Chapter 1 - Whispering

Inside of a big hall was a rectangular table that extended almost to either side of the room's walls. Chairs in different colors were placed near the table. for people to sit.

Lanterns were flying around the room in a smooth manner without clashing with each other. Each of the chairs was painted in the respective colors as golden, red, orange, violet, white, black, and finally blue.

The room was painted in light golden color while the ceiling was white. The room's entrance door was vertically extensive and was painted light brown color including the huge circular handle.

Standing beside the door were two people who had blonde hair and were wearing the same colored robe as the room's walls and their eye colors were white as in completely white.

On the table were glasses with red wine in them. On the golden-colored chair sat an individual shirtless with golden eyes and black hair. He had few wrinkles over his face which made him look quite middle-aged but it made no damage to his handsome face.

Due to the table covering, it was unknown if he was wearing something down or not. After silence enshrouding the room for 7 hours, the golden-robed individuals shouted in unison showing some emotions on their faces.

"WE WELCOME THE XIN GODS TO THE PRESTIGIOUS TERRIAN OF THE GOLDEN GOD, SIR ALTRIUS!"

As their words ended, the mighty doors opened as five individuals stepped inside the golden-painted room and sat on the remaining chairs except for blue.

The shirtless golden-eyed guy smiled as he saw red, white, black, orange, and green-robed individuals sit graciously according to their respective colors painted on the chairs.

Silence shrouded the room again as no one talked. A sipping sound broke the silence as all eyes stopped on the violet-robed individual.

"I've been meaning to ask this but where did you get this quality wine, Altrius?" asked the violet-robed individual as he placed the glass gently on the table again. He had black eyes and long violet hair and had the face of a middle-aged man with some tiny wrinkles over his face.

"Ah... I got it when I was exploring the Gelhad region, Riltan," replied Altruis with a straight face.

"Do you think I'm a fool?," asked Riltan, the purple-robed man.

"15,000 years ago, you all came to my terrain to discuss blue's disappearance. This bastard right here," said Riltan and pointed his index finger towards Altrius, and continued, " He excused himself to use the restroom but he stole all the wine I had stored in the wine cellar! It was my best collection where the taste will be intact for eternities!" shouted Riltan as he banged the table which made the table shake but each individual holder their cups to not let them fall down.

Altrius was going to speak but was cut out by a voice.

"Aren't we hear to discuss passing powers? When did this include you and him fighting over some shitty wine," said a feminine voice as all eyes diverted to the green-robed individual. She had short green hair, green eyes, and a teenager's face as she had mesmerizingly beautiful curves but not so much as considering the fact that she was 60000 years old.

"That's some good shitty wine you have emptied, Lisa!" shouted both Riftan and Altrius as they pointed at her cup in unison. The cup in front of her was empty as if there was no trace of red wine poured in it.

"A-ny ways, just start the meeting," said Lisa as she waved her hand to dismiss the matter.

After a few mumble of curses between Riftan and Altrius, Altrius snapped his fingers as mountains of papers appeared in front of each of them in a neatly stacked manner.

"Those papers contain the profiles of individuals that have the potential to even surpass us. However, according to your preferences, we can't segregate the youths in the Avain world," said Altrius in a serious tone completely different from his behavior a few moments ago.

"So please take the look at everyone since we can't miss a gem," said Altrius as a paper appeared in front of him as so did everyone's eyes as they started to view their respective ones.

In a graveyard that was surrounded by a multitude of pine trees, a teen with black hair and black eyes cleaned the leaves that were surrounding the tombs. If someone was present hear, they wouldn't even notice him.

The only light accompanying him was the source of light originating from the time-worn church at the north of the graveyard. The church was painted in white yet the paint was slowly fading away. The stained glasses illuminated the shadows of statues placed inside the church.

The shadows had the figure of an angel whose wings were not complete as the original had its wings broken.

The teenager collected all the leaves inside a huge bucket that was half the size of him. After a 20-minute cleaning of the graveyard, the teen placed the bucket near one of the trees and wiped his sweat even though the night was cold.

He started walking towards the church and opened the big lightly brown-painted door. Greeted with yellow lights, the teen's dress code was seen. He was wearing a simple round-neck black t-shirt with white tracks that were slightly torn at the end.

The wooden long chairs people used to sit on were damaged and were cast aside. The podium where the priests used to stand had many storage materials such as rotten bouquets, many small crucifixes, and some cleaning materials.

A big crucifix could be seen if we entered the church but it was hung on the opposite side and many graffiti was made near it.

The teen walked and sat on the long horizontal wooden chair and took out his phone.

"It's already 2.34 am?" said the teen with a surprised tone. He kept the phone back in his pockets and stared at the ceiling.

The ceiling too had some graffiti but was painted in primary colors.

"How long, Scott? How long are you going to live this scripted life?" the teen asked himself as he got up.

He turned off the lights in the church and closed the big brown door. He walked towards the densely covered forest with pine trees covering it. There was a wooden hut in the distance but it was broken as it was green substances covered it.

A scooter was parked near it which Noah approached. He took out silver keys from his pockets and inserted them in the keyhole of the scooter. He was about to start the scooter when he heard a whispering sound.

"Scott..."

The whispering sound was soft yet soothing which made Scott shiver. He has been working in this graveyard for 2 years but never did he encounter any supernatural happenings. He tried to remain calm but his emotional state took the most of his calm state. This obviously made him scared as he looked around panicked.

After silently calming himself thinking that he had imagined it, he started the scooter as it gave a grumbling sound but soon turned off.

Again, Scott heard the whisper but closer to his ears.

"Scott..."

This time, it was playful. But it was of a man which made Scott even more afraid. He tried to start the scooter by clicking the power on button but it did not budge.

Scott took his phone and called his friend, Steve. The dialing sounds resonated in Scott's ears as he eagerly waited for him to pick up. The call was picked up and he started talking panicking.

"Steve, you have to come to hear this shit man, I think someone's playing a prank on me at the graveyard's outskirts. Please come here, man!" begged Scott as tears came out of his eyes.

But all he heard was just one thing from Steve. More accurate to call it a whisper.

"Scott..." It was the same man's whisper again.

He dropped his phone and it got cracked due to the rocks below him. Darkness was the only thing he could see as the light from the phone diminished. He trembled and grabbed his scooter to balance himself.

His scooter suddenly started and its headlights glowed brightly. He first got afraid but got relieved since he can escape from this place.

But...

He saw another hand holding his scooter. It was pale and had scars all over and had its nails missing. Scott lifted his head up to see what was holding it.

A terrifying scream resonated the whole Burkin woods where the graveyard was situated. It was only for 10 seconds and stopped. The whole woods were silent as if the scream had never happened.

**********************

In a bar full of gangsters, a teen with a white shirt and black pants could be soon. If someone was new to this bar, they would certainly spot this teen due to him standing out. He was lazily sitting in front of the bartender drinking whiskey.

The whole bar had a shade of slight red while a disco light red was going on giving it a mature vibe.

Round small tables were present and around them were people sitting in chairs playing cards.

Jingle!

The sound of bells jingling was heard throughout the bar as the door to the bar opened. There was a middle-aged man with blonde hair and black eyes with a high brownish trenchcoat.

He had some small scars on his forehead that if one would not observe closely, they would miss. His hair was scrambled and wet which gave a unique charm to that man.

He was wearing a hat, kind of the one you could see in cowboy movies. He was carrying a rectangular briefcase, but not that big.

He came and directly sat in front of the bartender just 1 seat away from the teen who was drinking.

"A glass of gin. No Ice.," said the man calmly as his voice was deep.

The bartender nodded and went to prepare the man's drink. Meanwhile, the teen was drinking his iced whiskey with lemon on the side.

The man casually started a conversation by...

"Rainy day, isn't it?"

"Indeed," replied the teen as took a sip off the glass.

After 2 minutes of silence, the bartender returned with 1 glass of gin and placed it before the man.

The man took a sip of his given gin and placed his briefcase on the teen's side.

"Never did I expect to meet you here, Young Master," said the man with a smile.

"Really? said the teen with a chuckle as he continued, "I expected a more authentic reason from you William," said the teen as he drank the whole whiskey in one go as only tiny ice cubes remained in the glass.

"You know I'm bad at lying," said William playfully as he took a sip from his glass.

"Yeah, yeah whatever. To be honest, it's nice to see my 2nd favorite knight in the whole capital after 4 years--no, no 5 years I think," said the teen as he scratched his head.

"4 years, 9 months, and 14 days," said William as he gestured to the bartender for another drink.

"Wah! Creepy!," said the teen making a scared face which made him look innocent.

The bartender who was having pink hair and brown eyes and looked fairly handsome poured whiskey and gin into their respective glasses and offered ice cubes in a small metal container which the teen gladly accepted.

"So, let's quit the small talk shall we. What made the great William Morringan travel continents to come to this small town? Just to meet me when political affairs are at a critical stake in the capital?,"

"I was about to tell you that. It's nothing, Young Master. I just want you to do a favor," said William smiling as he took the container from the teen's side and dropped ice cubes into his own drink.

"Your Brother is coming here," said William.

The teen had a surprised look on his face for a few seconds as he looked at William. Silent surrounded them for about half a minute and the teen started talking again...

"For a mission? At the age of 14? I thought my father would not send him to missions until he's 18," said the teen with a chuckle as he continued, "Even though rules state that children from noble houses should complete seven C ranked missions before they turn 18,

"You know about him. It's the lady. She ordered him to go get some experience at the world's filthiness which some people experienced at a young age," said William as he stared at the teen with pity.

Pretending not to notice his look, the teen spoke..."Well, mother isn't completely wrong. It's time for my brother to get some experience,"

"So, why does it concern Ruclin, the small town I'm currently staying in?" asked the teen as he took a sip of his glass full of whiskey.

"He's coming here to attend the Ruclin's high school. As for why I cannot tell. I can only ask for you to co-operate and give a place for the 3rd Young master to stay at your current residence." said William as he finished his glass of gin.

"Understandable," said the teen as he gulped his drink in one go.

William and the teen both got up as Arthur told...

"I can get the bill,"

"No need," said the teen raising his voice indicating that he is drunk as he stumbled and walked away from the place they were drinking and opened the entrance door halfway and said...

"I own the fucking place," said the teen turned back with a wink.
