When he came to this world, he decided he wanted to be a hunter. That's what he liked so much about the story of Hunter X Hunter: the adventure.
But coming to this world made him realize he was still far from being able to be a hunter.
Hunters are at the head of whatever field they pursue. It is a lucrative profession as well.
He doesn't know how long it will be and what steps to take to achieve that goal.
He knows that this will be what he wants to be doing in his life.
"We are not hunters anymore," Kara said and held his husband's hand with affection. "We retired from that and lived together on this island."
"Yeah," Minato also puts his hand on hers, "I would say that an ordinary life is better than when I was out hunting."
Koji wondered whether he would also choose to settle down like the couple.
That night in his bedroom, he was reading a book that he found about cooking in the library room.
There was a quiet to the night, and there was the sound of the crickets from the outside.
He finds the book fascinating, and there are a lot of new ingredients from the book that he had never heard about.
Knock Knock
Koji looked over to the window from his bedroom to the left of this bed and noticed Marina outside.
She was waving at him through the transparent window.
"Why is she up so late?" Koji asked himself as he went over to open the window.
He finds Marina seems to have an endless supply of energy. She never sits still for even one second. She is always up for some play day or night.
"What are you doing up so late?" Koji asked, as he could feel her tiny hand grabbing his wrist with urgency.
"Something fun!" Marina said, "Come!"
He stepped outside the window and put his foot with caution on the black rooftop tile.
He followed behind as they walked to a step on top of the roof where they could see the entire ocean.
From that height, they could see the entire ocean brimming with life. Like flashing dots on the dark blue ocean water, some stars sparkled with light.
"Do you like it?" Marina asked.
"Wow, it is beautiful," Koji commented.
They both sat down on the rooftop while enjoying the peace of the night together.
"Here, I got you some more food," Marina said, and handed him a potful of skewered meat.
The smell of the food already made him feel hungry as his body begged to have a taste.
"I knew you would be hungry soon after the dinner," Marina said. Her smile seems cute with those two small dimples.
"You know me best," Koji smiles as he enjoys the skewered beast meat and finishes a bite with a mouthful.
"This is one of my favorite spots on the island," Marina said to him. "I wanted to share this with you."
"Thanks, I like this view," Koji said as he could feel her wiping away some of the oil from his cheeks with a napkin.
There was the sound of the waves crashing on the beach.
The wind would blow the grass.
The stars would sparkle on the moving surface of the ocean.
The next day, Koji went to the restaurant with Minato early in the morning. Minato decided he would give Koji cooking lessons every morning.
Today Minato is giving him a lesson on the effect of combining different spices and how to best pair them.
The lesson was easy for Koji to learn, since he could detect the minor details from the smell.
The minor subtle change in the process was also easy to smell with his nose.
Later in the day, he was better than before at serving the customers. His body could move faster than expected, and he wasn't as tired after the exercise.
Marina came over to check in with Koji in the afternoon, "Are you ready, Koji?"
She was wearing shorts and a black t-shirt with a skull head on the front. She seems like a tomboy with the blue cap covering her hair—revealing a ponytail that came from the back.
"Alright, we should get going then," Koji put down the dishes that he was washing. "I'm all done with cleaning up the kitchen, Uncle Minato!"
"Make sure to go have a lot of fun out there, kid," Minato said as he stopped talking to a sailor drinking a beer.
"We will, Dad/Uncle Minato," the two said as they left the restaurant, competing against each other in a race of speed.
"Kids these days," the old sailor said as he breathed a smoke ring into the ring. "Those two will one day be good seeds. Seems to have potential."
"What drives you here? Aren't you busy tracking down criminals?" Minato asked as he put a dish of appetizer in front of the sailor.
"Even a hunter needs a vacation once in a while," the sailor said. He is looking toward where Koji and Marina left. "Meanwhile, I'm beginning to want to retire like you and Kara."
"You're welcome to anytime," Minato said, filling his cup with more bear. "This town has a lot of lands to build a home."
Meanwhile, Koji and Marina have arrived in the forest. There were the birds that went into the air.
"Are we going to be hunting a bear?" Koji asked as he followed Marina. "I'm not sure I'll be of much help."
"Don't worry, Koji. It is only a small bear," she said as she brushed the branches away. "The bigger animals are all the way deep into the forest."
"I will have trouble even with a small bear," Koji said. She was walking deeper into the forest before Marina put her arm across for him to stop walking.
In front of him, he could see three bears of the same height as a human being eating some fish by the streams.
