Chapter 8 - Arrow Bounce might be OP

'Time to test 'Arrow Bounce...' Basmon thought, ideas on how to use it forming in his head.

He summoned spectral body and 1 arrow. He waited for a couple of Mana to regenerate, then set up his plan.

The moment he released the arrow, he summoned a shield in the air, bouncing the arrow back at Basmon. Basmon immediately used clone x2, and another bounce, causing the arrows to bounce in a completely opposite direction of the way Basmon had fired them.

'Wonderful... I can think of a ton of ways to use this...' Basmon said, smiling to himself. His mind had already thought of wonderful ways to use this.

After a bit of regenerating mana, Basmon moved on to the next thing to try. Defense.

It took a bit of convincing to get Clarke to attack Basmon, but in the end, he relented.

Basmon walked about 5 meters from Clarke and told Clarke to attack him. Clarke jumped towards Basmon with a super-man style punch. Basmon immediately summoned a shield in the exact place Clarkes Fist would land.

The moment Clarke's fist hit the shield, from his hand to his legs, his entire body jolted. His body was flung backward into a tree with almost the same moment as when he was jumping at Basmon.

'Holy... That's so much stronger than I expected!!!' Basmon thought to himself, shocked. It could defend against not only projectiles but also physical attacks!!!

Basmon quickly made sure Clarke was alright, and after making sure he was just sore and shocked, he went to test the final thing. The biggest problem with the teleport skill was that it would keep its direction, so if he teleported an arrow that was facing west to X it would stay facing west. But maybe that would change...

Once his mana had regenerated, he went to try the new combination.

He summoned an arrow and released it. The moment it was close to his target, a small pine tree, he used Arrow Bounce behind the tree, then teleported the arrow so it would run into the Shield in the air, and bounce back at the tree.

Sure enough, it worked like a charm. The most interesting thing basmon discovered about the shield, however, was that it would actually flip the arrow while making sure it kept its momentum. This denied all laws of physics... This could only be explained by magic.

Basmon finished up testing, then decided to go try and finish the quest 'Basic Release and follow-through, as apparently he had not practiced it enough to complete it earlier.'

He went to the training room and trained for about 3 hours before the quest finished.

Basmon was surprised he did not get a follow-up quest for that, but was more interested in his new skill, Enhance.

'Information On Enhance' Basmon commanded the system.

'What... The frick.' Basmon thought to himself, confused. How was he supposed to use a skill with a 500 Mana cost. That was simply insane. After a bit of contemplating, he decided to just wait until he got 500 Mana.

Basmon looked at the notification screen, shock on his face. He never expected to get a title for 12 skills. 'Information on Mana Control' He commanded.

Basmon looked at the screen in shock. That doubled his mana regeneration rate, and this title was only Rare rank! How strong were Titles of higher ranks?

After doing this, he decided to learn more about spectral body. He had only used it for the obvious purpose, of shooting a bow. However, from what he understood, he could use it to travel dimensions at higher levels and teleport, and even at this level he could pass through objects should he want and evade most senses.

After a bit of experimenting with the phasing thing, he learned 2 things: 1: He could go through anything: 2: The only objection to that is magic. He could go through living objects, but not magic.

He then tried to evade senses. He went close to a pack of wolves, even so close as in the bush they were passing, but none of them even flinched. He could have easily killed some of them. He also learned that, while in this stage, should he actively try not to let it, most physical attacks would not hurt him, unless they had mana in them.

After doing that for a bit, and messing with the wolves, he decided to go back to Clarke so they could do some practice fighting.

Basmon had Clarke attack him, and he tried to defend and defeat Clarke. After a bit of doing this, they decided to try and work on their teamwork. For instance, Basmon could use bow control in the middle of a fight to surprise an opponent with that or use an Ice arrow then fire arrow on an object. To be honest, neither of them knew what would happen if they did that, so they decided to try it.

They found a large tree, then released a fire arrow, and bounced it back while shooting an Ice arrow so they collided perfectly. To their surprise, when the arrows hit, they caused a small explosion and a lot of light. They had expected them to cancel each other out, not explode!.

After doing a bit more testing, they figured out they could use this explosion as 1 of 3 things: A flash grenade, a distraction, and finally an actual explosion. The last one would be much harder to pull off, however, as the explosion radius was not that big.
