Chereads / The Pride of Pandora / Chapter 5 - Five

Chapter 5 - Five

WHEN I WAS ALREADY DRESSED IN a simple grey dress that marked all of my curves, with my grey high kneeled-socks and sleepers on, and my hair in a small ponytail, I went back to my living room. And there he was, with a glass full of wine and sitting on the couch. As if he was home.

"It seems like you forgot who's the house you're in, Adam!" He turned to me and his eyes traveled from my head to my toes, then he bit his lip.

What a lustful guy. "You're beautiful."

"I'm always beautiful. Stop being so lustful, when you're under Pride jurisdiction, dumbass."

"Oh, now I see why you are here. You are full of pride," no joke? Did he realize that alone? "I thought demons couldn't drink anything!" Adam exclaimed staring at the glass with my precious wine in his hands.

He thought wrong. "That's not the case. We don't need food, drinks, or oxygen to live. But we still can eat and drink. And I, personally, love alcohol," I took the glass of wine from his hand and drank all of it in one go, sitting next to him. "And I didn't allow you to get my wine, did I? It's hard to get my hand on those, you know?"

I've been utilizing my free pass on the four seasons and the two human holidays, to stock alcohol, books, and chocolate. So I can utilize the eternity of my dead life in a good way. Something I couldn't do back when I was alive.

"I see that you like books!" He pointed to my bookshelves on the wall. "How did you get your hands on them here? I don't believe there's a delivery from the Human Realm who brings those to you, right?" So he knows how to joke?

Giggling, I rolled my eyes. "Yes, I do love books. One of the rooms in this house is a library, by the way, so I can spend forever here reading. And I got them on the Human Realm, of course! Although the writers who come to Hell, keep writing new books to fight their boredom, and we do have some book stores here, but it's different from the books of the living." That caught his attention.

"Can we go there?" Better not to let him get his hope high about that.

"Almost all the demons can spend 24 hours on the Human Realm on Halloween and the Dia de Los Muertos!"

"Only then?"

"Normally, yes. But it's different for the Generals, all the seven of them can go there once per season. On the solstice and equinox of each of them," a privilege I happen to have.

"What about the King?" Why does he ask?

"Well, we only know that he can go there once per month. But it might be more and he's hiding from us," I rolled my eyes annoyed.

"Do you have something against him?"

"Yes," he's the worst of all demons, the King, the one who rulers over the others, and he's a monster.

A monster that above all, hides in the shadows. I don't trust him even though I serve him. He's scary as fuck, and he uses the fear he causes in people to have them all around his leash.

Not to say about the fact that he has contact with the people in the Light Realm. He doesn't fight against them unless some of them come after him. And that makes me hate him even more.

"What did he do?" Annoying question.

"That's classified. Now, stop questioning me about everything. You are annoying me, and believe me, you don't want to see me losing my cool here," no one does, not even I.

He kept staring at me, not letting me change the subject. "Did you and the King have some intimate relationship?" Between General and King, yes, but not the type he's referring to.

"That's disgusting. Absolutely no!" Adam didn't seem to appreciate my reaction, but it's not like I care. "You should go and ask that for any demon under Lust jurisdiction, stop asking that to me. I've already said I'm not that type of demon, Adam!" I took the wine and filled the glass again.

Rolling his eyes, he said, "You were once a human, Pandora," obvious. "Your main sin may be Pride, but that does not mean you do not have the others inside of you," well, that's true, but still.

"Bullshit, Adam. That's not how it works," when I was about to drink the wine, he stole the glass from my hand and drank it before I could stop it. "What the fuck?"

"You know what I think of you?" What's up with that question?

"I do not. But neither do I want to know! I couldn't care less about that," and when I tried to take the glass back, he lifted his hand in the air, just because he's taller than me, pissing me off. "I'm not the type to torture the new demons, but you are making me regret that," he smirked.

"You aren't a normal demon, are you?"

"Pardon?"

"You are not a normal demon, are you, Pandora?" I stared at him with my poker face and said nothing. "You live alone and far from anyone in those creepy Woods, and you seem to be a very rich demon at that. You are full of expensive wines and all types of alcohol, a whole lot of books, your house is big and just for yourself. And you don't seem to be scared of anyone, rather, you seem intimidating and extremely powerful, unworldly gorgeous and dangerous as well."

"It seems like you are sharper than I gave you credit for. And so what?"

"Shouldn't you be living in a big-ass castle instead of this place?" What?

"I'm not following," he doesn't mean what I think he means, right?

"What I'm trying to say, is that you are the General of Pride, aren't you, Pandora?" I was too stunned to say anything and he took that as a chance to keep talking. "But if you are the General, and I think you are, as representative of Pride in Hell, why don't you live in that big Castle downtown, if we could call it downtown," well, I call it that.

I giggled. "You are very imaginative, aren't you?"

"Don't lie, Pandora," he came a little closer, his eyes on my mine, making me feel things I don't appreciate. "I just want to know the truth. I promise I'll keep you home in this creepy woods a secret," and when he smirked, my eyes were drawn to his lips.

After what seemed like a century, I abruptly got up from the couch, taking some steps away from him. I hate this. I hate this guy. He knows what he's doing, and doesn't stop.

"Get out of my house," I yelled, but he giggled. "Get out of my house, Adam! I don't a disgusting lustful demon like you here."

But he didn't even move. Worse, he seemed even more comfortable on my couch.

"That's not happening!"

"Pardon? Are you out of your mind?" He's really getting on my nerves.

"I need a place to stay, and I like it here," no way. "Besides, now that I'm quite sure of who you are even though you don't want to say it, I have the upper hand!"

"Say what you want, Adam!" I hissed. "Name your price."

"And seeing how you aren't denying either, I believe I was indeed right. I just want to live here and get your help to train," my jaw dropped.

"That's not going to happen, son of a bitch!"

"I feared you were going to say that," he got up and walked towards me, and I found myself stepping away from him until my back hit the wall. Towering me, he gazed down at my eyes, "If you don't want to let me stay here willingly, I'll have to try another way. So, Pandora," he tilted his head to the right, and I clenched my teeth. "Allow me to stay here with you and to train me, or I'll tell everyone that the General of Pride doesn't live on the Castle, but alone in a fancy cabin on the Woods!"
