Chapter 18 - A Real Monster

Tochi sneeked across the castle grounds after nightfall appearing nothing more than a shadow among the darkness of night. A raged cloak thrown about his sholders as he wisked past the guards making his way into the city." Not a copper to my name, What does that wretched old man expect me to do with nothing" with a hark he spat upon the ground mingling with the commonfok under the dim lights of nighttime. the royal capital seemed to slow its pace for no one not even day or night as pepole left from their jobs to mill through the pubs and brothels." aye what a sad sight look at them all unaware of their lives so quickly being wasted away. I guess that's my job," a sour look crept across his face as he put the thought out of mind" I'll get home even if I've a need to destroy the whole continent, but first time to level up." Cackling under his breath he firmly planted his back against the bulwark wall tracing around the outskirts of the city till he spotted a faint torchlight in the distance." Bingo" he practically exclaimed in a soft wisper as he crept near just outside of the torchlight sitting in wait.

" dam this job nothing ever happens here! we sit here day and night for meager pay to what gard pepole chained to the floor it doesn't make sense!"

"relax man at least it's peaceful. it's not like the street rats trapped in there can get out and who would want anything to do with the prisoner's huh? at least you're not placed on the front no one comes back from there in one peice."

" you've got a point i'ma take a nap first wake me in a while and I'll take second shift."

"whatever ya say"

The guards made small talk till he decided it was time to move, it wasn't glamorous nor a great treasure trove but when hunting quick exp without pennies to your name it was his best shot. Tochi pulled his mask up his face and drew a dagger from his belt, finally when the gaurd turned his head he sprung forth like a muskets hammer. The blade drew across the man's throat as his other hand grasped quick around his mouth deafening his screech as the light faded from his eyes. A soft ding rang in his skull ,but he paid it no mind as he struck the sleeping guard through the heart.Swiping the dead man's keys he fiddled with the lock as the door gave way to a long corridor lined from front to back in decrepit cells filled with walking corpses. The mad smile across his face was cut short by the stench filling the hall." by god they may be lambs ripe for the slaughter but even a farmer should have standards!" his voice roused the pepole from their light sleep who looked like a savior ready to free them from their cells.

"HELP US"

"SAVE ME"

"LET US OUT OF HERE"

Countless cries called out for him as they thought their prayers had been awnsered, when he opened the first cell an old decrepit old man dropped to his knees muttering some incomprehensible thanks. When he looked up to see his 'savior' he was met with a cackling smile and eyes crazed with madness as he drove his dagger straight through the man's eye. his brain flayed he fell limply to the ground as the man turned back around to see to the next cell. Immediately their cries changed from joy to one of terror like the angel of death come to reap their souls. Behind him he left a trail of corpses slashed to peices cleanly as if the hand of a surgeon had taken their lives. countless dings of notifications rang about in his skull as the last prisoner was cut down he simply strides out of the building. the bloodstains on the walls fresh and still driving as he left as if he was never there, like they had all been killed by a ghost he vanished back into the night. A snickering smile thrashed upon his face as his heels clacked together in joy. He tumbled to the ground in a fit of laughter struggling to get back to his feet." khakakakkakakakaka, he heh he hahh just the look on their faces!" Staring up at the dim moonlight piercing through the clouds drew a silvery light to the bright smile across his face."ahh my I feel light" Tochi reached up to the sky grasping the moonlight as he sat and basked in the revel of fresh power that began pumping through his veins. A rush of euphoria ran hot through his blood, with heavy breath he cautiously pulled forth his status to calm the storm of notifications that rang in his head. Glancing it over it stole away his breath

" Oh my oh my so much for so little work you spoil me system!" he was giddy with excitement as he began dumping his fresh Stat points before standing up feeling a rush of power rippling through his muscles. he tossed out a casual punch upon a tree sat beside him. The blow splintered the bark and caved in its face about 4 inches in a explosion of woodchips and sawdust.shaking off his hand he felt light on his feet weaving through the trees as he broke out into a frenzyed dash boxing and weaving through everything in his path." If I didn't know any better I'd say this is the growth of a monster." He let out a light chuckle as he came to a screeching halt." I'd go 'hunting' again but I can't think of a good place, just mucking about in the city is a recipe for disaster.hmmm what to do?" Scratching his chin he waked softly against the grass covered ground as he made his way back towards the city center away from the small forest near the outskirts of the wall. Like a snake through the crowd he weaved seamlessly through the bustling streets of the night city. Stars glittered down the limelight as he crawled back inside the castle, his footsteps wispers upon the windowsill as he dropped back to the hardwoods of his lavish accommodations. The beading simple enough though its frame was ornately carved in some semblance of value. Laying down his head he reveled in his small victory, sleeping soundly as if a baby, the souls of the damed a soft lullaby that drifted him off to peacefully slumber.
