The shout was so loud that they did not think a human could scream that loud. The fight that was happening was stopped because of that shout. All of them looked at the direction where the scream was coming from. And the result was making them surprised and shocked.
Enjar wanted to give up himself? For what? For who? What is going on here?
And the villagers were the ones who were shocked the most by this revelation. Especially the people under Lumberis' order. They were speechless when they saw Enjar was the one who shouted those words. Lumberis was baffled more than when he heard that Raph wanted to surrender.
And among those under Lumberis, Timan was the one who had the most shocked expression drawn on his face. He could not believe it! This man who looked fearless and confident, a man that looked offering himself up to the enemies?! The fight was still not over yet, so why was he giving up so soon? Weren't you supposed to be the-
Wait a minute…
Did he…
Did he want to sacrifice himself?
These kinds of thoughts ran through not only in Timan's mind, but also the other villagers. Their eyes were wide like saucers when they realized this. They could help but bite their lips, grit their teeth, and clench their fists. The emotions that were residing in their hearts were enormous, as if they could not contain it just by using their hearts alone.
They saw how much Enjar's body was trembling right now. There were many wounds on his body, either from bruises or wounds that exuded blood just like his shoulders. He looked tired, with how he had been fighting against these people all alone after so long. And what they needed to do was to help him!
He did not put them into the front line, he literally took all the damage for themselves and made them help him by fending off Clind and his men, who kept on harassing him every time he fought against the experts. He had somehow predicted it to be like that, and the previous fights showed just how much Enjar was disturbed by their long range weapons.
Not only that, Enjar also did this for them! He wanted them to be free from the oppressions of Alvred and his men! Enjar had explained to them why they were not a government, but instead they were just a group of gangsters that somehow landed in this village and extorted them in the name of protection. If they indeed tried to protect them, then why were they even fighting against them like this still? Alfred might reason that it was to control the masses but Enjar wanted to point this out through this battle.
Their previous taxes were not even worth in their eyes because they took it as a granted. And when you went off their agenda, your past good deeds went to the drain. And this was what Enjar was trying to tell them. This fight truly broadened their minds.
And after the battle was somehow stopped, they then thought back a few moments before on how Clind and his men were so vicious when the villagers were trying to not hurt each other badly. It could not be more clear on what kind of people Alvred and his men were.
But, they were just a group mostly composed of peasants. Their power could not be compared to Alvred and his men. They were sure that they might be massacred if they did not obey their orders and laws. So it really was a dilemma for them to resist. And Enjar's arrival was like a ray of hope for them to realize what was going on and what kind of situation they were put in.
But alas, the momentum was not there anymore. The heated moment somehow had died down as they now focused to look at Enjar. Especially with the complex emotions that were brewing in the minds of the villagers. Momentum was a trigger that could bring a big movement and revolution. It could not be underestimated, the arrival was subtle but the impact was tremendous.
And just like this situation, somehow the villagers lost the lead on how to proceed things forward. The men under Raph felt like they did not want to fight anymore, while the men under Lumberis wanted to hear what kind of explanation Enjar was going to say. They felt like Enjar's lead was the lead that they needed to follow. And because the other people also stopped their attacks, they changed their priority to focus on Enjar.
While for Clind and his men, they also stopped the attacks. Firstly, they were surprised that Enjar was trying to give himself up. They were naturally happy about it, and they felt like the situation could not get any better. They wanted to keep on attacking these villagers, but because the villagers also stopped their attacks, they needed to stop their attacks too. If they continued to attack them while the villagers were off guard, they might incite a unification of the villagers.
They did not want that to happen. So they were forced to see how things were going to unfold. The momentum was no more for now, and they too focused their gazes on Enjar.
Enjar looked at the situation and sighed. He looked at the direction of Alvred as he rose up his two hands into the air. Alvred proceeded to get closer toward Enjar, when suddenly he heard Enjar's voice.
"You are just a pawn, who is not even worth your attention. Do you know why I'm so strong? Because I was backed by a Marquess. I don't know what kind of backing you have, but your plans are done now. That treasure truly is a blessing in disguise for me, heh." Enjar said in a very low voice that it could only be heard by Alvred among the other humans here.
"Ohh? I actually was just playing with you. I just wanted to have some *Sniiiifff* drama, you see. And it tasted awesome. Heh.
And honestly, I will go after this and report this incident to my boss. The best thing was that you did not even dare to put a hand on me right now after realizing my background. Heh, just a dog that licked their masters shoes like a good dog you are. And like what I said, you did not even dare to hurt me. Try me if you dare." Enjar looked Alvred into the eyes. His provocation was so apparent and clear. The mocking in his voice was so infuriating for Alvred as he could not wait to rip apart Enjar's mouth.
"A pussi is a pussi. A pussi will always be a pussi. You can't even touch me even after the fight that we have been having, eh?" Enjar grinned like a maniac before he ended his little speech with a spat. He did not even direct it on Alvred's, as if he was disgusted even by being near with him.
A truly righteous normal man was naturally offended when they were mocked like this. The word 'pussi' might mean two things, and either way was an insult to him. A man needed to be strong, galiant, and brave. In this age where the birth of a baby boy had a more joyous atmosphere than the birth of a baby girl, he could not take that insult no matter what. Many modern people might dislike this but they truly needed to see history before they became a keyboard warrior.
Alfred's eyes became bloodshot as he looked at the back of Enjar who kept on walking. The beating heart inside of his chest was so fast that some people might think that he was going to have a heart attack or something if they heard it. The two hands of his were clenching like they were trying to stab his own flesh with the nails attached on his fingers.
Is what Enjar said true? That he was just a pussi, a coward that did not dare to retaliate against the man in front of him? Even after the humiliation and insult being said toward him?
No! Of course it's not true! How could I be a coward?! I was just being smart so as to not attack him because the retaliation of his background might be worse to him!
….Wait a second, isn't this what a coward usually uses as an excuse? Then isn't he too a coward then!?
No way! Do you think I am afraid of you, because of your backing!?
Alvred proceeded to brandish his sword toward the departing Enjar's back in a very quick motion, witnessed by the shocked spectators in this forest.
