Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Final Frontier ch5

Riz was walking down the empty streets. He had never felt so alone in his life. Back in the facility he was born in he always had mother with him and after going to this different world he was always surrounded by someone. Even if nobody was around he had Fiona speaking in his mind.

He took out the black cube and held it in his hand. It was a weird cube to say the least. Just holding it gave him a feeling of connection. Oddly enough he felt that this feeling was somewhat similar but he could not pinpoint it.

He still had 5 days of walking to do in order to reach the terminal. Yet what was waiting for him was unknown. If it was before he would be afraid of this unknown but now he felt this was more exciting than his current loneliness.

Even more, he was waiting to get back to the other side as soon as possible. He picked up his pace so he could cover his daily distance goal as soon as possible.

——-

BOOM

As soon as Trevor woke up he was flying of in air and landed harshly on the wall.

Sudden jump in adrenaline rush in Trevor's body was not the most pleasant feeling for Riz.

He looked around trying to understand what was happening when Fiona's voice inside his head said, "You sure are a deep sleeper." There was a hint of resentment in her voice as she said this.

"What is going on?"

"Someone is trying to kill you, we don't have much time run to the southwest exit I will give you the details along the way."

Trevor in his sudden hormone rush was already in enough dissarry to not think about it as he ran in towards the exit of the home his father had gotten from the mercenary guild.

He learned along the way that some unknown assailants had attacked the house and his father and mother were busy holding them off while this was happening Fiona tried waking up Trevor but was unable to do so and there was no resistance coming from his body she took over and ran in order to protect Trevor.

Even though Fiona can take over Trevor's body she cannot take over his magna core and hence she is limited by the physical strength of Trevor's body.

If Riz had enough time to cultivate dragon blood technique he learned from the dragon's legacy he maybe able to even hold on somewhat but in his current state Trevor's body status was bellow average at best.

Fiona at this moment was very surprised by a development. That even in this chaos Trevor was in complete control of his core, like it had already become a subconscious activity for him. It was like as soon as Trevor woke up his Aura signature became non existent.

Such a talent is terrifying even in 'that place' thought Fiona, this kid's potential is unbelievable. How has he been so underachieving until this point.

When Trevor was a bit further away from the home he looked back at the home and he could feel the bursts of aura coming from afar. He wanted to go back but in his current state he would only be a hindrance.

"Can you teach me how to fight using aura?"

"You will learn but let's not be impatient here, you need to find some place safe. There is a time for everything." How could Fiona not know how Trevor felt at this moment, She herself had been at such point in her life but she knew only strong can win and only survivors can become strong.

"You can feel it, can't you?" suddenly came a voice from behind. Trevor jumped back and looked at a man leaning on a tree covering his face with mask, "Can't you feel your powerlessness? You provoked the wrong people kid. Your father was a friend and It would be an honor if he was to join my team of mercenaries but in the end we are guns for hire."

Trevor could feel this man was not someone he could mess with. He felt like this person was as powerful as his father or even stronger. If he wanted him dead then it was only a matter of thought.

"Don't worry, killing you was not a part of my contract. But, you will not move past this radius. My contract says so and for a man with my job trust is of paramount importance, unreliable teams don't get paid reliably."

"Trust? Do you even qualify to talk about that word?"

"Heh" scoffed the man in mask, "If we are talking about qualification then you don't qualify for anything, out here only the strong qualify."

This was something Riz was hammer with in every moment he spent in this world. Only the strong are truly free. Rules are just an option if you are strong enough. At this point he was determined to get stronger. He was running no matter any world he chose to stay in. Only the strong have the rights to stand.

Trevor moved away from the man into the cover of trees.

The man in the mask at this point thought, He is brown 1 core and yet I am barely able to feel his aura, is this some kind of artifact? If so then it must be very powerful on to be able to hide his aura so perfectly from a yellow 3 core.

_____

"This is not the time to be learning anything, you need to find a way to get out of here or find a way to hide yourself."

"I can't keep hiding nor can I run away. I may not be able to face them head on but I can surely hit them in the back. You can call me coward if you want but if I am able to take away some pressure from my parents then perhaps there is a chance we can survive this. They are prepared for only two people to fight which will be their downfall."

Fiona thought about it and as much as she knew he made sense she also knew that risk in this plan was too much. She did not doubt that Trevor would be able to learn some basics, She had the first hand experience of this terrible talent but this was also why she was a bit more apprehensive, loosing such a talent would be a big loss for this world.

"I will teach you but you will not attack unless I say you are ready for it and if I feel like you are not ready at all till the morning then you will have to follow my orders and hide or find a way out of here. Do we have a deal?"

Trevor had no options, from what he had heard this night was the maximum his parents would be able to hold on in this situation. His father may be able to hold longer but his mother was not a fighter as far as he knew she was at the same core level as father but she was a healer and even an orange core three fighter would be able to win against a yellow core 1 healer and at present they were holding off multiple orange cores and two yellow cores.

_____

Ansell was huffing and puffing, blood was dripping from his mouth and down his hand from shoulder to his finger tips. Each drop falling was creating a crisp sound in the pin drop silence.

Elsa was healing a large cut on Ansell's back, standing in the pool of blood of her husband was one of the most painful experiences for her but still her worries were pivoted towards the son she was just relieved to meet. Even though Ansell was hurt he was still in front of her but her son wasn't around and she had no idea how he was doing at this moment.

The only good thing about this moment was that those small fish that trickled out had not returned with any news. It meant that he was most likely thriving for now, but looking at the current situation this would not stay so for long.

"As expected of the Lion heart Ansell, Even against six orange cores and two yellow core 2 you are able to hold your own. I am also honored to see the great healing powers of the merciful lady Elsa."

"Don't worry I will make sure you know how it feels to die by this Ansell's claw too Geffrai you old dog."

Geffrai smiled and gave a hard exhalation from his nose and said, "Now now, lets not take names here, we can save this grief and anger for when my men return with your dead son's head."

Geffrai looked at his subordinate Raaf who was another yellow core in their team and asked, "This is getting annoying, we need to finish this fast. We don't have much long before morning and I intend to keep my promise to house master."

Raaf who was a tad bit on the shorter side with black pointy teeth that shined like obsidian said, "Don't worry about the kid, last I heard he was a black core and all our men are brown cores and many of them at third level of brown core, the kid must be hiding but it is only a matter of finding him." Raaf looked at Elsa and licked his laps with his devilish tongue, "We need to get rid of that healer and Ansell should fall easily, she is the biggest reason for us wasting our time."

"You are right, let's finish this problem. With this we should be able to earn favor of not just the Garison family but we might even get a chance to be part of the royal guard."

Hearing this Raaf wasn't able to hold back from spreading out his black teeth in a disturbing smile, just the prestige of being a royal guard would be enough for them, even though it was a long shot, it was not out of the realm of possibility.

_____

Two men were roaming in the jungle and we suddenly jolted with a sudden blast of aura that came from far away.

"These people are monsters, especially that lion claw Ansell, I am just happy to be out of that house."

"Don't relax just yet, we need to find that Trevor or Geffrai won't hesitate to kill us in the most painful way possible."

The other person got shivers just from the thought of what his colleague had told him and it was dreadful because he knew this was by no means an overestimation, the had seen how cruel Geffrai can be.

He tried to change the topic to steer clear his mind of the horrifying thought and said, "How is it that so many of us aren't even able to find this kid even after spreading out and searching for him systematically for so long, You don't think he escaped, right? Not with those mercenaries covering the perimeter."

He waited for the answer but he got none, "Hey what ar…" He moved back in horror and tripped as he saw his colleague standing still with an expression like he had seen a ghost and a generous hole in his chest that pierced his heart clean.

He was only a few feet from him and he had failed to sense or hear anything that happened. How cloud this have happened? It's impossible for a black core Trevor to have done this. Even someone in orange core would not be able to fool his senses to such a degree. He would atleast have sensed when the person used aura to put such a gaping hole in his friend's chest.

Fearing this was the work of some hidden master he started running away from him, He couldn't even shout as it would mean announcing his position to this person but he had to warn other of this dreadful development.

For a moment he thought there is no way he can escape from this person if he is that powerful even if he didn't utter a word or breathed a single time his heart beat would be enough for this master to kill him. But he was someone who valued his life more than anything and he was not giving away his hope to live in order to shout and alert others.

In his caotic thoughts he slowed down as he saw nothing was following him and he tried to limit his noise. His eyes were constantly hooked to the back fearing his other sense may have failed him.

He just then hit something in his front. His eyes were left wide open from shock as it wasn't the master he was expecting but the prey he was hunting.

He could taste blood in his mouth as he looked down to find a hand piercing his chest. He was still stunned even with his approaching mortality as he was unable to sense the person in front of him. It was like he was a mortal devoid of magna core. But he could clearly feel that the hand that put him to death had aura on it. This was not the aura of black core though. This was clearly someone with a brown 2 core.

_____

Fiona was advising Trevor on how to strategically and kill his enemies one by one. At first he seemed very hesitant in killing but he steeled himself up very fast. It was clear that Trevor's mindset had a huge change since meeting that mercenary.

Yet just mindset is not enough to win, what was the most astonishing was that Trevor had managed to learn silent step of lizard and even manged to learn the first stage of dragon claw in record amount of time. This even made her feel inferior, she was by no means less talented when she was young but in front of Trevor she would be bellow average at best.

But this was also not the end of her shock as he had broken throw brown two core like it was stepping on the next step of ladder for him. Although she could feel it was a bit taxing on his body but then she wondered what if that was not the case? Did this kid have any bottleneck at all? What kind of monster was she looking at.

Trevor stopped in his tracks as Fiona was lost in her thoughts. This brought her back to reality. She could see Trevor was learning fast again as expected. He had perfectly positioned himself from the two people that were searching from him.

Although these were brown 3 cores she wasn't the least bit worried about Trevor, there was a clear difference in the mages with same core levels when it came to status. It was the difference in their levels of techniques. It was like comparing a musket with a modern rifle, although they were both rifle one was obviously superior.

Trevor used silent step to move closer to his victims. Fiona could see he was improving in his control and speed every time he used silent step.

He was behind these two fellows in no time and before they could even react aura started flowing though his aura lines and into muscles and bones, temporarily hardening them. He then used a simple burst of power to end the threat to the two poor fellows by ending their lives.

"You should change your approach now, they should be wary of you by now if they are even slightly competent."

Trevor gave no answer as he stared at the house that looked increasingly dilapidated with every passing moment.

There was another burst of Aura coming from the building that hit his senses. He closed his fists with determination, "We need to speed up."

"We don't, we just need to keep going steadily. Even if you manage to kill a dozen more of these small fires or even kill them all you will make no difference. The fear of unknown is a great stimulus, these people will spread your legend enough and unlike the weak the strong ones fear the unknown more. They have long since forgotten the feeling of uncertainty and that is the best help you can give with your current strength."

_____

Denise was a person of discipline and loyalty. She was ordered to pick up Trevor in the morning and morning come she was there. Garison Estate though powerful in the small province of Serf it was nothing in Denise's eye but an ant she could crush at any time.

The guards were made aware of her visit and they dared not stop her. But even before she could reach the door it was opened and Reimund himself came to welcome Denise with his wife and son around him along with important members of the family.

"Welcome high maiden, it is an honor to have you at our estate."

She moved past Reimund without giving him a smidgen of respect but Reimund wouldn't dare have any grievances. In fact he was even more excited and followed Denise with the enthusiasm of a child.

"I have long heard about the tales of Maiden Denise's beauty and how she chooses to wear golden mask to save the world from falling apart and as a man with experience in life I would say the mask fails miserably at doing so."

Denise wasn't a least bit flattered as she looked around spreading her senses throughout the estate in search of Trevor.

"You must be here for that traitor Trevor, I regret to say this but he left with his cuck of a father and slut of a mother."

Denise stopped in her tracks. She looked behind with increasing hostility.

Fearing that this hostility was directed to him because he let them go Reimund promptly added, "Don't worry my men must be on their way with their heads soon, Until then you can rest in…"

Reimund suddenly felt words unable to come out of his mouth as he could feel his windpipe getting narrower and legs leaving the clutches of the ground. Without touching Denise had dangled him like he was being held by a huge man with unparalleled strength. This was the horrifying strength of the silver core mages he had only heard of.

"Where is he?!" Said Denise, Reimund felt like he was standing against the devil himself as he heard these words with heart wretched malice. Even though he heard the words and he knew they came from Denise it felt like they were said by the sky itself to him.

He pointed towards the direction of the building mercenaries and his subordinates had informed him of.

He could only feel the gust of wind as he dropped to the ground gasping for air as his horrified wife and son came running to hold him up.

He gasped a few times and looked at other family members who were just as horrified as him. He cursed Geffrai as he thought the Denise was angry at their incompetence.

He said in a harsh voice point at the direction in which Denise left and the direction in which Trevor was, "let's follow her."
