-Back to the Present-
After remembering the third day, he couldn't help but shiver at the memory of being backstabbed that quickly and suddenly and ever since, he has been experiencing the same dream, for each and every night ever since. Even though his mind has been hardened and remembering it now wasn't much of a problem, having to constantly wake up from getting stabbed in his dreams has been slowly taking a toll on his mental health.
It hasn't reached the point of not being able to communicate or even think straight, but he becomes extremely jumpy, whenever he senses someone behind him and that led to quite a few situations of either giving a quick scare on anyone behind him, inconveniencing them with constant stares and there has even been a time where he had caught someone and pinned them on the wall or the ground.
In the end, he decided to not reminisce about the past couple of weeks, since he wanted to keep himself as calm and focused as possible for tomorrow's first class in spellcasting. Before long, he quickly drifted into a deep sleep and it wasn't long before his accursed dream had started once again. He knew he would probably get backstabbed, but he would make sure to last for as long as possible, since the feeling of being stabbed was still extremely painful, despite the fact that he had grown kind of numb towards it.
In a few seconds, he felt a cold chill on his neck and quickly rolled forward and while he did so, a thin sword flew slightly over him and barely grazing him. After the roll, whenever he would feel either a chill, or see something come, he would dodge as much as he could, but as he was doing so, the swords were slowly coming more frequently. It wasn't before long that a sword had created a deep cut on his body, cutting off his concentration and leading into his head being pierced through his temple, just three seconds after, and leading into an immediate darkness.
Once daybreak came out, it was then that his body flinched in a similar motion of experiencing the killing blow that ended his dream.
"Owww... Thank god it was instantaneous death. Just when will these end?" Kai exclaimed with a painful expression, as he was caressing the spot that had a deep cut in his dream. That was the situation for him, every time he fell asleep. Fall asleep, dodge as much as possible and wake up at dawn, while still experiencing the pain at the end of the dream and he wasn't sure if it was going to end anytime soon, but he know for sure that he had go through the usual training, whether he liked it or not.
After cleaning himself up and changing into a fresh pair of clothes, he puts on his mask once again and starts his day with his usual breakfast, some bread, a bit of cheese and fruits. As he was eating, he noticed that Jason had come as well and it didn't take long for him to sit on his table, while also greeting him:
"Morning Kai. Slept well?"
"About as well as I could. Can't exactly help it when my body feels like sh*t, first thing in the morning." Kai answered with an uncaring expression, as he stared at his own food. He hadn't said anything to anyone for the his own situation for two reasons, those being one, that he wasn't expecting anyone to be able to help him and two, even if there was anyone who would be able to help, he wanted to avoid alerting the slaver or anyone behind him, so he kept silent to himself and if he looked tired, he would use the excuse of being overworked, even though he knew that he was more than capable of handling this level of training intensity.
"Anyways, how about or the others? Mei won't even attempt to answer me and I haven't been able to talk much with Valt lately." Kai asked, after he had finished his response.
"You haven't been able to talk with him, even though your rooms are next to each other?" Jason asked slightly curious.
*sigh* "It's more like that I have to leave my room at daybreak, if I want to able to talk to him." Kai answered with a tired expression, as his head landed on the table.
"I guess you aren't an early bird, are you?" Jason asked casually, as he drank from his cup.
"I'm not exactly a night owl, but I'm no morning rooster as well. So? Will you answer or not?"
"Vale doing pretty well, from what I've seen. Has the look of a young man, straight out of college, full ambition and energy, while Mei pretty much struggling, even with her easier training regime." Jason answered with a calm expression, as he was eating his sandwich.
"Well, I guess she won't be struggling so much, once today's classes begin." Kai commented with an uncaring expression, as he put his plate away at the pile of dishes and sat down once again.
"Right. Today's the day we learn to cast magic. I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't interested, but it's not as if the previous classes were useless. Especially the linguistics class, since we won't be able to even read, if we don't know the alphabet for starters." Jason explained calmly, as he put his tray away as well.
"Thank god this country's alphabet is pretty much the same as our English alphabet, with different symbols, otherwise this would have been a much bigger struggle." Kai exclaimed with a tired expression, as he was slowly making his way towards the training field.
"I'm of the same mind as well. Anyways, good luck with today's training, kid." Jason answered asked followed him as well. As the two of them were walking in silence, Jason couldn't help but ask with a worried expression:
"About your body... Any changes?"
"Nothing... Nothing at all, at least, in terms of violent and inhuman body changes." Kai answered calmly, as he remembered about his nose transformation. Although he isn't affected from the fact that his nose is different now, he can't help but wish for it to go back to how it was before, every once in a while, but he still worries about the fact that his nose might not be the only thing that may change on him. In the end, he decided to end this topic immediately, wished him luck on today's training and went ahead of him into the field.
As he was doing so, Jason couldn't help but shake his head and comment with a helpless expression:
"It's natural to be afraid of the unknown, especially if it concerns your own race, but you should know better than anyone else that you will need every little advantage that you can get, if you intend to stay alive, since to go back to our world, we need to be alive for starters, but if possible, I'd rather you and Mei weren't a part of this mess."
