He saw them, talking to each other for a really long time, so long that it felt like ages to him. He couldn't make out any of the words either of them spoke, as he was far away from where they were. But his eyes didn't miss the sobbing Rick, and Yvette patting his head affectionately. And when it felt like they were talking to each other, while the whole time Yvette had a sweet smile on her face, Irvyn thought his every assumption was proving itself wrong one by one. He thought she would be stunned, upset, confused, and in the end, reject him. But a smiling Yvette showering Rick with affection wasn't something he expected to witness.
