"I am sorry, Rick. But I can't return your feelings."
Rick expected this response from her, but when he heard it directly from her mouth, it hurt him more than he expected. He thought he was ready for anything that would come his way. Seems like reality often exceeds the expectations to a great extent.
"It's… fine," Rick spoke up in between his sobs. At this point, he wasn't sure if he was crying out of the rejection he got just now, or the way she showed understanding to his feelings. "It's totally understandable if you don't accept my feelings."
"Who said I am not accepting your feelings?" Yvette talked back at him, making him look up surprised at once, with his tear-filled eyes, and messy face. He didn't care how his face looked for a second, as he was shocked by what he had heard.
"What… do you mean?"
