"Squad leader!" a recruit raised his voice to ensure he was heard. In response to his effort, the leader seemed to be intensely stopping from his track and glaring at this recruit.
"What?" said the leader calmly.
"I feel there's something following us. Should we take a look?" the recruit reported. The recruit's attention is then directed to where the group passed earlier.
"No need. With our numbers here, how problematic it could be? It's likely just some of the monsters living in this wilderness." said the leader as he easily swept this matter aside.
With no confidence that there's really something following them, the recruit can only submit to the leader's decision and continue further.
The leader had no idea that his negligence would later cost him his life.
(Gii...)
The hobgoblin continued to follow the squad after feeling that the line of their focus was no longer pointing in its direction. This monster seemed happy because the humans had lost their chance to kill it.
