"What kind of decision does the commander make?" Hastings asked after seeing Eidos Luther coming back from the commander's tent. The worrisome expression on his face only made the situation less positive.
"Five hundred." Eidos Luther simply replied to Hasting's question using a numerical figure.
"What? The messenger said the number of enemies is between one to two thousand! How can a mere five hundred soldiers be enough to control the situation?" Hastings raised his voice. There's an obvious tone of disappointment and anger in his words.
"Our troops are not fully trained and battle-ready yet. Furthermore, if even Lieutenant Delais had a problem with them, won't sending more troops to rescue would wound us much more?" Eidos Luther repeated what he was told by the commander.
He was disappointed by the decision as well. But unfortunately, as a soldier, his primary obligation is to follow his superior's command, even if the order was meant to send him to his death.
