Chapter 1 - The beginning

It was a bright sunny day or so it appeared. I was out having fun with my family. My cousins and I were out playing tag in the yard. It was fun and non-stressful. Who would think that just a few seconds later it'd be different? My seemingly easy life was about to turn upside down. Continuing to run around when that bright sky turned dark. The ground began to rumble. Everyone began to panic and run around. The plants rapidly decade. The earth's crust began to crack and the ground shook. Lava began to spray from the ground. I was in shock until an object flew and knocked me unconscious. Many years have gone by. The earth was nothing like it used to be and neither was I. When I started to regain my consciousness I was hit with a very unpleasant smell. It burned my nose so badly and I felt tears building in my eyes. As I slowly opened my eyes and looked around I realized what was the cause of the smell. I tried to get up but my body was extremely weak. I crawled away as fast as I could. The corpses of my dead family members were across the floor. Their bodies are just bones with a few pieces of rotted flesh here and there. The thought of it made me cringe and puke. I could not get the image out of my head. I wanted to cry over the loss of my loved ones but I could barely catch my breath. There was a shattered mirror across the yard and I could see myself. I looked badly starved. My ribcage was bulging and my stomach caved in. My legs were skinny which explained why I couldn't walk. Then after all of that, it just hit me. The huge pain from starving. I don't know if it was pure luck or something but what looked to be a berry bush had grown just a bit away from me. I used all the strength left in my body to get to the bush. I picked a berry and a little of the juice splashed. The smell of the fruit was amazing. After eating one berry it was like I lost myself. I kept eating until all the berries were gone. After I was full I just lay there processing what had happened. Something had happened and did a lot of damage. Somehow I survived without eating for years. When I glanced back at the mirror it didn't look like I had aged at all. I Still looked seventeen. I tried once again to stand and now that I had eaten it was a little easier. I stood up high enough to look over the overgrowth. It was like a whole new world. The trees were so green and had so many colorful flowers. Some of the flowers were the same size as mine. There was a huge rushing river in the distance. I didn't see any wildlife so I had assumed they did not survive, I was then hit by a sudden wave of tiredness. I sat down against a falling tree that was in the yard. I quickly dozed up. Roughly two hours had gone by. When I opened my eyes I was shocked. My body was back to normal. I should say it was more of I looked jacked. I hadn't moved in ages but my body was built like an athlete. I stood up and walked around. I felt super light. I paid no attention. Looking at the bush I had eaten the berries left me shocked. All the berries were back. Thinking logically, I needed to find shelter. I didn't know what the world had in store for me.I walked into a small forest and came across a huge tree. On one side of the tree, there was a door. The door was barely 5 ft tall. I tried knocking hoping it was from a survivor but no one had answered. I then tried to open the door but it would not budge. I then continued walking deeper into the forest. In the center, there was a huge tree towering over everything else. I used it as my reference point. I found a small empty field and decided to make it my temporary home. I had no clue what to do. I have watched a lot of survival shows but it's different when you have to do it yourself. I thought of something I could do. Using tips I remembered, I began constructing a simple home. There were a lot of fallen branches. I used some of the larger branches as support. I use smaller ones to weave bigger ones together. After maybe a house of work I made just one wall. I took a rock and threw it at the wall to see if the wall was weak or not. The wall didn't budge. The wall was rigid but also flexible enough to be made rounded. I made 4 more and weaved them together. After I finish I realized I made a dumb mistake. I never made a hole for a door. After 6 hours the wall was complete. To make a door I just removed enough branches to the point I could fit through. For the roof, I used some of the giant leaves the trees produced. The leaves were about 16 inches long. I layered them for protection and extra weight and durability. I did not know if it still rained or not but just to be safe and put leaves on the floor as well with a mix of thin sticks so it wasn't to lose when the ground became muddy. After I had finished the day was used up. I was beginning to feel hungry again so I wanted to look for more of the berry bushes hoping there were more around. I weaved together a small basket to carry some berries back. It took me 30 or so minutes but I found a field of bushes. I thought to myself that I should start a farm of them. I had zero experience in farming though but wouldn't hurt to try. I picked enough berries to fill the whole basket. While I was getting ready to head back I noticed a green and red fruit hanging from the tree. Curiosity got the best of me and I went to pick it. The fruit was huge. It was nearly the size of my head. The fruit aroma caught me off guard. It was bitter but sweet. My mouth began to water. I quickly made my way back to my small home. I dug four holes and put a berry in each. I assumed the berry was like potatoes and carrots and were the seeds. After I covered the berries I got back to the huge fruit.I was cautious at first and poked a hole in it with my finger. It was very juicy and the sweet smell greatly increased. I assumed the skin was producing the bitter smell so I wasn't going to bother touching it yet. I licked my finger and the flavor that caressed my tongue was heavenly. It was like nothing I ever tasted before. I then took a bite of the fruit and the juices began to roll down my face. Before I knew it the fruit was gone. The flavor was worth it though. I then realized that there was only one of the fruit. It would be ages before I could have another one. Then out of nowhere, a sharp pain hit. It was unbearable. I twisted and turned while holding my stomach. The pain was so bad I nearly started crying. The pain spread from my stomach to my entire body. It was driving me insane. It got so bad I passed out from the shock. When I came to, my eyes were blurry. My stomach had never felt worse in my life. I immediately panicked. This was not a good sign. Something else was wrong too. I was cold and hungry. I couldn't shake the daze in my eyes. My stomach ache was getting worse, but not as bad as the rest of my body. All of a sudden the pain hit. It was unbearable. All I could think of was water. I knew I needed water. I reached out for the same tree I had the fruit from. I started to feel the rush. It was very mild at first. It felt as if I was falling. I saw nothing but darkness. No doors, no trees, no sky, just blackness. Then I saw it. A narrow gap leads to a small stream. I felt as if I would die if I didn't get water. I slowly stumbled toward the stream, holding myself up on a fallen tree. I could barely get to the water because of the pain I was in. It took me a few minutes to finally get there. I put the water in a bottle, managing to hold myself up to drink the water as I stumbled back to my home. It was as cold as ice and tasted like dirt but it was better than going through so much pain... I drank the rest of the water and threw the bottle away. The pain started to fade slowly. I then laid down to sleep. When I woke again it was not to sunlight or strange wind but the sound of a wolf howling. I got up and looked at a random tree in the distance. There was a sight I would never forget. A huge wolf three times my size and two others by its side. I froze and I couldn't move my body. I was paralyzed with fear. This is my first time seeing something so terrifying in the new world. When I finally dared to run I ran in the opposite direction of the Hell Hounds hoping they would not see me. Well, guessing from the fact they started chasing after me I guess I was spotted. I ran faster and faster and it didn't dawn on me until now. I was incredibly fast. I ran so the would become a blur but I also realized something else. I didn't know how to control myself at these speeds. I ran face-first into a tree. To my surprise, I plowed right through it. You would think that is a good thing but right after was a giant canyon and I fell right in. There was nothing to break my fall as a plummeted down the hole. All I could do is watch as the ground got closer and closer to me. Right before I hit the ground I blacked out.
