Chapter 41 - End of the First Arc

Looking at Draven slaughtering the Clown, the entire kingdom felt shivers down their spines. Silence fell over them. Until the light of life left his eyes, the Clown kept laughing. Others would have screamed in agony by getting repeatedly stabbed but not the Clown. He just laughed until he died. Draven didn't even spare the Clown's body. He submerged the body into the acid and waited till he saw the bones float above.

The brutes shut their mouths tight. Not a single one dared to make a sound. The youngster not only defeated the unbeatable Black Knight but also startled them by killing their boss. Within a week of time, he had killed two of their bosses. The brutes no longer hadn't the spark of valor. Instead, they shivered. Luckily their fear was short-lived.

"Draven, the soldiers outside are getting ready to break through the door," Sarah's voice sounded in Draven's head. Draven remained calm. His eyes had no fear. Slowly, he glanced at the brutes behind the metal fence.

"ARGH!" The Black Knight began to punch the metal container with all his strength. The thick glass formed a tiny crack. Noticing the Black Knight trying to get out, Draven hastened the next phase of his plan. Not that Draven feared the Black Knight, he just didn't want another rematch with The Black Knight. As the Black Knight was punching the glass, Draven raised his arms towards the brutes. He closed his eyes for a moment, slowly feeling the metal nuts keeping the platform on which the brutes were standing in place.

He loosened the nuts. The platform creaked.

"That's my boy. Drown them in their own acid," Margoth shouted excitedly inside Draven's head. On one side, The Black Knight was breaking the glass container. On another side, the knights were trying to break through the front door to catch him. Still, Draven focused on solely killing the brutes. Each of them had killed and ravaged innocent people under the Clown and Scarface. If he let them escape today, they would all scatter away into various holes like cockroaches. Thus, Draven wanted to kill them here and now. Otherwise, he might not get an opportunity like this ever again.

With intense killing lust in his eyes, Draven loosened the nuts and bolts holding the platform together. He completely ignored the blood drizzling down his nostrils due to excessive use of etherian energy in his body. Despite everything, Draven completely focused on killing the brutes. Meanwhile, the cracks forming on the Black Knight's container grew bigger and wider. The platform began to tremble. When Draven felt like the platform was about to collapse, he dashed at the glass wall between him and the hostages, shattering the glass with a single punch. Broken glass pieces flew chaotically. Some pieces cut Draven's cheek. Draven used teleportation to push every hostage with enough force to move them far enough from the acid below. As Draven pushed out the last hostage, The Black Knight finally broke out of his cage. He was about to dash at Draven when Draven pulled out all the nuts and bolts holding the platform together. The brutes dropped into the acid bath like flies. Screams and shouts reverberated throughout the hall. One by one, the brutes slid down into the green bubbling acid. Seeing all the death and destruction, the Black Knight's body went rigid. Ever since he put on the suit of the Black Knight, this was the first time he had seen such destruction caused by a single man. The Black Knight couldn't even save one.

Boom!

At the same time, the knights finally broke into the hall by destroying the metal door. The soldiers rushed into the hall led by General Barton. They quickly surrounded the Black Knight and Draven. But every single soldier shivered to even look at Draven. The young man mercilessly killed the Clown as well as his brutes. The agonizing screams of the brutes were still ringing in their ears. Every time they saw a piece of bone float on the acid, their fear of Draven reached a new height.

"Stand down, both of you," General Barton stepped toward them, a long sword dangling on his waist. Every step he took produced a heavy metal boot sound. He was the only man with no signs of fear on his face.

"You are surrounded," General Barton said to Draven.

"Our soldiers are breaking into your warship as we speak. So it would be wise for you to stand down,"

To everyone's surprise, the Black Knight remained speechless. He seemed to be in utter shock at what just happened. His failure to stop Draven hit him pretty hard.

"Is that so? Take the sword out of here," Draven simply ordered Sarah through the Khal. Outside the warehouse, the warship of Draven trembled, letting out a high-pitched whistling sound. The soldiers who were banging at the door quickly leaped back.

"Protect his majesty!" the royal guard, who was armed to the teeth surrounded King Richard, willing to die for him. A red beam shot out of the sword and fell on the king himself.

"If you don't want to see your king blown to pieces, it would be wise for you to stand down," Draven repeated the words General Barton said to him just a second ago. Since General Barton didn't see what was happening outside, he creased his brows. Soon, he began to hear the commotion outside. His soldiers were screaming along with the citizens.

"I don't kill innocent people. But is King Richard innocent?" Draven slightly tilted his head.

Under their shocked gazes, a soldier rushed into the hall. He reached General Barton and whispered everything that was happening outside into Barton's ears. Shock and anger glimmered in previously calm eyes of Barton. Soon, the shock turned into fear. He might be able to take down the youngster, but he doubted he could save the king once the warship fired its cannons.

When Draven commandeered the ship, the sword didn't have any real ammunition. It changed soon when Draven took a detour.

Now the sword had cannon balls loaded into the cannons. Once Draven issues an order, Sarah could fire them at the king. Not that Sarah expected Draven to kill the king, but she aimed the ship's cannons at his majesty so General Barton and the soldiers would stand down.

"Now I will walk out of here and get into my ship. If any of you decides to stand in my way, you can say goodbye to your beloved king," said Draven.

General Barton looked at the Black Knight, hoping he would do something. However, he just remained still. Step by step, Draven moved toward them. Every fiber in General Barton's body screamed at him to take down the murderer. He could hardly contain his anger at seeing him walk away after everything he had done. In a few days, the youngster turned the kingdom into a battlefield.

Still, he managed to walk away unscathed. Even their guardian, The Black Knight failed to stop this killer. General Barton knew letting him walk away would only result in more terror in the kingdom, but he had no choice. Protecting the king always took higher priority. Without a gifted superhero, it had become clear they could not stop this new threat.

However, many who suffered at the hands of the Clown, the brutes, and Scarface cheered in joy. They finally felt like someone had avenged them and their loved ones, including Timothy, who lost his wife. At this moment, Draven was the hero they wanted. They felt safe.

When Draven stepped outside, the crowd took a step back in fear. He looked up at the moonless sky.

"The path I am walking, I don't know whether it's the right one or the wrong one. Guide me," Draven said in his mind, imagining his family was looking at him from heaven.

The soldiers around him hesitated to raise their swords against Draven. As he walked toward the airship, more and more people murmured. Many gasped after seeing the blood-soaked face of Draven. When he was directly below the sword, he opened his wings. Throwing one final glance at King Richard and everyone, he took off.
