Kai sucked in a cold breath of air, 'Damn! Just what level was the Fire Cat?! A new skill and a spell tome! But what is a spell tome?'
When he got a chance, Kai would look into it, but now wasn't the right time.
'Actually, why didn't I see Lorgug use any skills?'
Whenever he would use a warrior skill, it involved his Will power and some part of him having a shiny white glow, yet he didn't see that on Lorgug.
'Maybe I shouldn't ask; it may bring up something troublesome.'
"{Status}"
{Name: Kai Venator}
{Tier:1 Level 28}
He only wanted to see his level and was delighted to see it increase. He was now only 22 levels off his next evolution. Then he could potentially get a hybrid race; just the thought makes him grin.
Turning to Rathal, Kai sheepishly asked, "What level was that Fire Cat?"
Rathal shook his head, "Haha, rookie mistake! It was Tier:1 Level 30."
"Ah, thanks. Anyway, we should go check up on Edea and the villagers."
Kai quickly changed the topic because he knew it was stupid not to check its level. He swore he would never make that mistake again. If he were to run into a fight without checking the enemy's level, it would be like going in blind. What if the enemy was 20 levels higher, but he didn't know because he didn't check?
'The Fire Cat would have been useless to them all anyway.'
Rathal was at the highest level in Dream Walkers at level 40, while Lorgug was at level 39. Hycis is level 38, and so is Ramon. Edea was the lowest at level 35, but it made sense to Kai. After all, she was the healer. It would be harder for her to level up without any damaging abilities or skills.
The rest of the Dream Walkers had put away their weapons and headed over to Edea, and the man faced that was injured. Kai was going to run over, too, until he looked back at the Fire Cat's corpse that had now fallen to the ground.
Putting his bow away, he thought. 'I can't help them anyway.' Kai reasoned, walking toward the corpse.
Bending down and looking at the corpse, he noticed many scars that it had accumulated over its many battles.
"[Collect]"
{Obtained, Tier:1 Fire Magic Stone}
'Oh? Another thing I need to look at.'
"Kai, come here!"
Before he had a chance to look into his spell tome and magic stone, Rathal shouted for him to come.
'Guess I'll have to wait.'
When he got to where Rathal and others were, he saw the man's claw mark wounds had shrunken, not to the point they were gone but to the point where they weren't lethal. The wound was now sealed, stopping any blood from escaping. He noticed the man's chest rise slightly and fall, indicating he was breathing.
The boy was by the man's side, holding onto him, crying.
"He was the only one injured, at least this time," Ramon told Kai, but he knew what Ramon meant.
This time, the man was the only injured one, but what about the other attacks from Fire Cat? How many others were injured or, worse, killed by the Fire Cat?
Walking next to Rathal, he wondered what he wanted, but before he could speak, Rathal spoke, "Look, the villagers are coming."
The others lined up shoulder to shoulder, with Rathal and Kai in the middle, awaiting the villagers.
In the lead was an old lady with black feathers hanging out of her hair. She had a tan cloth that covered her entire body, similar to a robe. Behind her were what Kai assumed were the remaining villagers.
"Thank you, travelers! You've saved our village head and his son! We offer you our thanks." The lady said as she and the villagers bowed their heads.
'So he's the village head, and that's his son, huh?'
Looking at the pair, it made sense, but why didn't they help out their village head when he was in need?
"There's no need! We saw someone in need and helped them, that's all!" Rathal responded with a smile.
"We would be honored if you joined us for a feast tonight!"
"Of course we accept!"
The villagers cheered, hearing they would get to feast with their saviors.
"May we know your names? Humbles one." The lady asked without giving her own.
Going from left to right, they gave their names.
"Lorgug" "Edea" "Kai" "Rathal" "Ramon" "Hycis"
The villagers kept giving their thanks, and soon the village head awoke.
"Are you the ones who saved mine and my son's life?"
Without waiting for a response, the village head got on his knees and bowed his head, "Thank you for saving my son!"
The village head had a deep voice, but it was filled with gratitude.
'It seems he cares for his son's life more than his own.'
"We, the Tulbuc tribe, are in your debt!"
"No, no. There's no need; this lady already planned a feast tonight; that is more than enough." This time Edea spoke, pointing toward the old lady.
The village head looked over and smiled, "I see; if there is anything else you need, come seek me, and I'll do my best to help you."
Nodding, Kai decided to risk it and ask Lorgug about not using any skills. He just couldn't shake his feeling.
"Hey, Lorgug, how come you didn't use any skills?"
Lorgug just looked at him before laughing, "Hahaha, I did! Watch!"
Lorgug pulled out his sword and sliced the air.
".."
"What am I looking at?"
"Haha, you didn't see anything, right? That's because you can only see your own Will power. That's why it seemed like I was just swinging my sword around, haha."
Lorgug enjoyed laughing at Kai's ignorance.
"Don't sweat it, Kai; when I first met Lorgug, I thought he was swinging his sword around too." Hycis said, comforting him.
"There are many things only certain classes can see, take me, for example, I can see green lines around wounds, showing me where to heal first or how to treat different injuries." Edea said, surprising Kai.
'I wonder what Roman can see that others can't, as an assassin.'
Apparently, it was obvious what he was thinking because Roman coughed, "I can't see anything special like them."
"Haha!" Rathal laughed at Roman's awkward cough.
The village head thanked them again before taking his son and walking over to the villagers.
'So do we get the reward? Or..'
Kai didn't want to ask, and judging by their clothes; they wouldn't even have the 10 gold coins.
"That was quick." A quiet, cold voice brought him out of his thoughts.
"Eeck"
Atar appeared behind the group, startling Edea.
Taken aback by her reaction, Atar was quick to apologize, "Sorry for scaring you; I was just checking up on you all."
"Haha, hehe" The others playfully laughed at Edea, while her face turned red from embarrassment, "No, no, it's fine, I shouldn't be scared so easily anyway."
Atar was slightly amused but didn't let it show, "Did you guys notice anything about the Tulbuc tribe?"
The group pondered for a minute before Hycis said, "They all wear some form of cloth that wraps around them." As she spoke, her voice got slightly higher, hoping it was what the Vampire wanted to hear.
Atar nodded, "They wear that because of their culture and ancestors. The Tulbuc tribe doesn't like change and chooses to stick with what their ancestors wore. That is also why they wield wooden spears; they find other advanced weapons displeasing."
Rathal nodded in understanding, "Is that why they have houses made of stone and clay?"
"Precisely! Now it may seem like they are poor and lack resources, but the truth is, they want to live like this."
Although Kai understands why they live like this, he wouldn't choose it. Living primitively won't help him grow stronger.
"I wonder? Can you feel it?" Atar's question confused the group, as they didn't feel anything unusual.
Judging by their reaction, Atar wasn't disappointed as he expected; they wouldn't be able to detect it, "There's a dungeon nearby."
Although all of them were shocked, Ramon showed it the most, "Where?"
"Ramon was it? You're an assassin, correct?"
Ramon's eyes widened, "How did you know?"
"Haha." Atar chuckled, "Did you forget what I am? When you told Kai about this quest and your classes, I could hear it!"
Without waiting for a response, Atar continued, "I know assassins take pride in their ability to sense things others can't and their stealth but don't worry. Once you reach Tier:3, you'll be able to sense the disturbances that dungeon portals cause, but you'll only be able to sense those of your level and below. I only asked to mess with you, haha."
The group, besides Rathal, looked at the laughing Vampire with a blank face. Rathal joined in on the laughing, yet Kai couldn't tell what was funny.
"What kind of dungeon is it?"
"Oh, it's just some tier:0 one; it's how the Tulbuc tribe gets food and resources. Occasionally, merchants will come, and the Tulbuc tribe will buy and sell many things."
Nodding, Kai now knows how they get their resources.
"Where're the others?" He asked.
"They're back at the carriage; they didn't want to come out until it was safe."
"I'll go first then."
Kai quickly excused himself, wanting to take a look at the spell tome and fire magic stone.
Clicking on the spell tome for [Fire Claw], it read {Upon consumption, learn the Tier:1 Fire spell [Fire Claw]-Imbuing fire mana into a claw-like shape, the user can slash through metal.}
'So the fire will stay in the claw shape until the spell is dispersed. Unfortunately, I don't have fire magic, considering it's a tier:1 spell! The Fire Cat could probably have sliced through my ice with this.'
Continuing on, Kai read about the fire magic core.
{Tier:1 Fire Magic Stone- A magic stone from a Tier:1 monster holds leftover fire mana.}
"Oh, maybe I can get fire magic, haha!"
