'Our intention creates our reality', it's a quote from Wayne Dyer.
The intention we set today influenced the life we live tomorrow.
It was supposed to have a positive meaning, encouraging people to thrive for the future.
But what happened when we have a bad intention?
This was what happened to Katie and Lola. Their reality now was the result of their bad intentions.
At this moment, Lola was scrubbing her body for the nth time, while crying in the bathtub. She was feeling dirty all over her body, even if she had scrubbed till her skin bleeds she still felt like it was not clean enough.
If she could turn back time, and change things, she would. But she didn't know at which point in time that she was supposed to change. Was it when she befriended Katie? Was it when they decided to get close to Mia? or was it the night that they plot to harm Mia? What was done, was done? Now, she had received the consequences of her action.
She couldn't really get mad at anybody but herself for her situation right now, as what she received was the same as what she had done to Mia. Katie and her, had drugged Mia, and in return, they were also given the same thing.
But after they were drugged, they were left at the Red-Light District without their belongings. So no purse, no phone, no money. What happened next was up to your imagination.
Their fate wasn't as lucky as Mia. They didn't have anybody come to their aid, and that was how Lola realised what she had done to Mia was not something that should be taken lightly, and she honestly felt remorse for it.
But that was not the case for Katie. She didn't feel sorry at all for what she had done, even when she was shown the reality of what her action might cause Mia, she didn't feel she had done anything wrong.
When she was subjected to the same thing, she felt humiliated, and her hatred towards Mia soared.
Katie hated Mia because she was jealous of Mia. She was jealous that Mia was friendly and beloved by many. She was jealous that Mia had beauty and wealth. Katie was jealous that Mia had a loving family and doting brothers. And all this jealousy was so intense it turned into hatred.
Right now, Katie was lying on her bed in her apartment that she shared with Lola. Her body was still sore even though two days had passed since it happened.
Katie looked at the phone in her hand. A text was opened, and she scoffed at the text.
"Tsk, how pretentious of you. To ask about my well being, even though you know what your brother had made me go through. How can nobody see how fake you are? I'm going to tear that face off!!"
The subject of Katie's hatred right now was in her room, trying to reach her two friends who she hadn't seen since the night that they invited her to a party.
Mia was clueless about her friend's involvement that night. She honestly thought that she was just a random target by some sick psycho. Her two brothers never told her anything as they wanted to protect her from the evil of the world.
"Where are Katie and Lola? Are they okay? I'm so worried about them. Why can't I reach them? Please let them be okay. Were they also drugged like I was? They didn't pick up my calls and reply to any of my texts."
Mia paced back and forth in her room, thinking about her friends. She was feeling guilty for temporarily forgetting about her friends since the night of the party.
"I should've checked on them before."
She smacked on her own forehead, "Oh you dumb Mia! Why are you panicking here, you should just go to their apartment and check!"
Mia sprinted out of her room to go to her friend's apartment to check on them. She was feeling silly for a moment when she was only worrying about her friends in her bedroom; it was not that it can solve anything. She should go check on them with her own eyes.
Getting inside her car, she soon drove towards her friend's apartment. She had been to Katie's and Lola's apartment a few times to hang out with them, therefore she did not have trouble finding her way there.
Inside the apartment, Lola was currently in a heated argument with Katie.
When Lola was in her bathroom feeling remorseful about her wrongdoing, she decided to go back to her hometown in the countryside. She wanted to take her time and repent. She felt that being in the countryside with clean fresh air and away from the worldly temptations was going to cleanse her mind and soul from the things that she had experienced in this city.
So she packed her luggage, bringing only her clothes and important documents, and pulled the luggage out of her bedroom.
Katie was in the living room staring at the wall in front of her while brewing plans to ruin Mia.
When she saw Lola come out of the room with her luggage, Katie was alarmed. Katie and Lola hadn't spoken to each other since they were thrown into the Red-Light District, they didn't know exactly what each other had experienced, but they have a general idea about it.
They were separated when they were in the district and were with different people. They didn't see each other, and they came back separately and locked themselves in their room for two days.
"Where are you going with the luggage, Lola?" asked Katie.
"I'm going back home to the countryside," replied Lola.
"How long will you be gone?"
Lola looked at Katie with complicated eyes, "I'm not coming back, Katie."
"Why not? What do you want to do in the countryside? What about your dream to change your life, to live a better life?"
"What life Katie? My life was already ruined," Lola said angrily.
"That's why you shouldn't go. Let's make Mia pay–, "
"No! Please stop Katie." Lola cuts Katie, not wanting to hear more.
"I shouldn't have listened to you! I should have stopped you!" Screamed Lola angrily.
"Oh, please! You know why we became her friend. Only with befriended Mia can we get into the upper class, marry a rich man and live a better life. Wasn't that what you wished for after coming from the countryside?"
"I know, I did have that thought when befriended Mia. But Mia had been a genuine friend to us, Katie. I'm too late to realize that. I don't want to get involved anymore. I should've never followed you blindly. Mia never did anything to harm us," Lola said exasperatedly.
Gnashing her teeth, Katie said, " Mia is a pretentious bitch, Lola! Can't you see that? She acts all friendly with us, but can't you see how she just loves to parade her beauty and money in front of us? Gifting us luxury things and pretending to be bashful when men look her way. She invited us to her high-class events to mock how poor we are. She promised to introduce her brother, but did her brother even look at us? Those are just her empty words!!"
She sighed and shook her head, even if she wanted to refute Katie's words, she felt like it would be useless. Katie was already way beyond help.
"I'm going. Take care, Katie."
Lola walked out the door, walking out from a friend that she made since the first day at the University of City M years ago with tears in her eyes.
Leaving from friendship and memories that she made is not easy for her, but staying wasn't an option she wanted anymore. She had lost too many things, and she didn't want to lose more. She was afraid that she would lose herself if she didn't get a grip on her life now.
She wanted to meet Mia for the last time to say goodbye, to thank her for her warm friendship for all this year, and to ask for forgiveness, but she didn't have the guts to face Mia right now.
'Goodbye Mia. Thank you for everything and…. I'm sorry.'
Standing at the sidewalk, closing her eyes and facing the sky, Lola silently said, not noticing the car that passed her, driven by the person she was sorry for.
