"This is all my fault," Cecilia pounded her chest repeatedly with her fist. "She must hate me," Cecilia said painfully. Tears poured down her face like a waterfall.
Edward couldn't see his wife crying and blaming herself, thus he hugged Cecilia, burying her face in his chest.
Cecilia kept repeating, blaming herself.
Ethan, who was oblivious to the things that happened before, coaxed Cecilia.
"It's not your fault, mom. It was never your fault. Someone took her from us. It was never your fault," he said, rubbing his mother's back.
Cecilia pulled herself from Edward's embrace and faced her son, "No. This is my fault. I was saying hurtful things to her today before I found who she was," Cecilia said.
"What did you say to her?" Ethan asked with a furrowed brow.
With difficulty, Cecilia said, "I was belittling her, calling her an orphan and questioning her kids' origin," Cecilia admitted her wrongdoing to Ethan.
