"The Singer-songwriter program will have 10 competitions. One episode will be recorded every week, for a total of 2months and a half"
"If before each of you only need to sing and write a song base on the theme provided by the program group, Now you will be assigned an amateur partner every week fulfilling their dream to create a new original song for them." Producer Kim Jihyun paused reading to see the reaction of the participants. There's already a slight commotion happening in the room.
"A week later, all seven of you will perform these seven original songs together, and the 1000 public judges will vote with their real names to determine the ranking order." Producer Kim Jihyun continues to disregard the voices in the crowd.
"Every round is a competition. The guest who ranks last in the overall ranking will be eliminated and there will be a new guest in the next round. At the same time, after the broadcast of the program, an online voting session will also be opened. Before the tenth recording begins, among the eliminated guests, the one with the most online vote will be ressurected and become the last one to participate in the finals and compete for the championship." Producer kim ended while closing the notebook she's reading. She looked up and assessed everyone in the room, smiling lightly.
"Lastly the finals will be broadcast live and the final ranking will be decided by the votes from all the viewers watching the live broadcast. That is to say, if you can go from the first round to the finals, you need to create maximum of 10 original songs."
"Okay, the condition is a bit harsh, tailor fitting a song to someone"
"Why are you only telling us about this now.?"
"Its going to be a big challenge"
Each participant voiced their concerns. Someone even stood up and paced around the room. There is also some confident one who's lazily slouching on the sofa, and some acting like it's no big deal. Each had their own way of expressing. Only Agwa was confused and still munching. She looked in the direction of the producer and saw someone at the back with a camera. She didn't notice since all her attention was with the producer.
'Oh it already started' Agwa thought while hurriedly stuffing away the snack and sitting straight, from time to time, nodding her head. She's also a little bit concerned about the mechanics since it's about tailor-fitting songs. For her, who relies on luck to draw songs, it'll be a challenge.
'Guess I have to diligently mine some coins, after all the guests participating in the competition are all excellent original singers.' Agwa thought depressingly. She looked at everyone in the room. You can't tell if they're really worried or just acting in front of the camera. Those who looked confident were probably told in advance, or just plainly confident with themselves.
'I absolutely need to win all the way, can't really depend on votes outside once im eliminated, each of these monsters has millions of fans, so there's zero chance to be resurrected by popularity.' After Agwa thought of this, she continued to stuff herself with snacks, she couldn't be bothered to pretend, since she didn't even know if she'd survive the first round.
" Okay time for everyone to introduced yourselves, As you might have notice we're already recording. I know everyone is already well known but for appearance purposes please introduce yourselves again to our audience"
Their attention was called again by Producer Kim and motioned for the cameras at the back to enter. Suddenly, a surge of people with cameras and equipment enters and hurriedly set up. The temporary assistant or music partner also came in and stood on the side.
"Okay who want to go first? say hello to the main camera and briefly say something about yourselves." Producer kim said.
Agwa suddenly raised her hand, but producer kim looked at her strangely.
"Agwa you want to go first?" Producer kim asked without much enthusiasm.
"No" Agwa said calmly.
"Then why are you raising your hand?" Producer kim asked, looking at Agwa intently.
"Which camera is the main camera?" Agwa asked, a little embarrassed. Sorry, it's her first time recording a variety show and she really didn't understand.
Everyone. "....."
Gaeul faced palm at herself, while everyone in the room looked at her dumbfounded. Then suddenly a young man burst out laughing, seems like the same person who kept laughing at her all this time.
Producer Kim glanced at Agwa speechlessly but still explained:
"The largest one in the middle is the main camera. You don't need to pay attention about the other rocker arms and follow-up cameras. They will adjust the angle themselves to shoot you."
"Okay, thank you" Agwa scratched her head and thanked embarrassedly. Producer Kim is waiting for Agwa to then continue to introduce herself and everyone also looked at her, but Agwa ignored them and pretended to do something. Of course she won't go first. She's not that stupid to be ahead of the big names.
"..."
Producer kim then speechlessly looked away, then glanced at one of the veteran singers with the most seniority and politely motioned for him to go first.
'EHEM!'
The veteran singer cleared his thoat to ease the awkward atmosphere, then stood up and smiled warmly at the camera.
"Hello, Everyone I'm Byung-ho, Im happy to be able to participate in this show, hopefully I'd be able to meet expectation and bring you some nice songs." Singer-songwriter Byung-ho introduced himself humbly and shortly, then nodded at everyone in the room and sat down. After 20 years of debut, Byung-ho won 6 Daesang awards and four times the Korean Golden Bell Award for best song of the year.
Right after Byung-ho, Lee Bora gracefully stood up and smiled slightly at the camera, then proceeded with her introduction.
"Hi! Long time no see everyone. I'm Lee Bora and just like what oppa byung-ho said I'll try my best to present you a beautiful stage and songs."
Lee Bora, just like Byung-ho, is a veteran singer in South Korea. She is dubbed as "Nation's Fairy and one of the few successful soloist in korea. She had won several "Artist of the Year" awards and also 5 Daesang awards. She's been on hiatus, though, for 4 years and is making a comeback through the show Singer-songwriter.
Another guest stood up to introduce himself. His name is Baek-hyun; A known genius of new generation famous singer-songwriter. His a champion of the famous talent show 'I am a Singer' and has a lot of female fans.
"Hey Bubbles, I hope you're watching this show, as always this oppa will brought you my best songs so keep a look out." Baek-hyun said while winking at the camera. Agwa also realizes this is the same person that keeps laughing at her earlier.
'Must stay away from this person, tsk, tsk such a f**ck boy' Agwa thought while lowering her eyes.
After Baek-hyun is Dae-jung. One of the most famous rappers in the country. He was also labeled as the originator of Korean R&B and one of the few who contributed to the growth of Korean rap and hip hop music. His a little bit talkative as shown on how he introduces himself.
Next to stand up was Naeun who had a little interaction with Agwa. This shy young girl is dubbed as 'Nation's little sister' and her group CHANTY was one of the famous Idol groups in Korea. The group also won a lot of prestigious awards and Naeun herself won her own personal awards. If she wanted, she could get away from her group and debut as a soloist.
Naeun first bowed to the camera, then introduced herself a little restrainedly, probably due to the fact it's her first time without her other group members.
"Hello! I'm Naeun of Chanty. I'd promised to do my best and bring you a song you all will love. please continue to support me. Thank you" Naeun bowed down again and sat down.
Next was Dong-hyun, a quite young man with a straight face. He actually glanced at Agwa meaning for her to go first, but Agwa just looked away. He had no choice but to stand up.
"I'm Dong-hyun. Thank you"
"..."
That's it. Dong-hyun's introduction was short without a care. Everyone stares at him, but he just ignores them all. If Baek-hyun was called a rising genius of songwriting, then Dong-hyun already proved himself a lot of times with all the prestigious awards he took home. The only thing unknown is if he has a voice to pair with his talent in songwriting.
After everyone stood up and introduced themselves, Agwa felt more and more pressured. With such a heavy line up, the program team probably bled a lot and spent a huge amount of effort convincing each of these bigwigs.
No point in dilly-dallying. Agwa gracefully stood up, waved her hand and looked intently at the camera.
"Hi! It's me Agwa, hope y'all are ready." She ended her introduction briefly with a bright smile. No need to take time introducing herself since she doesn't know if it'll be edited out.
That concludes the short introduction of each participant. The first seven guests basically cover different age groups and different musical styles. After the introduction and greetings, they all took their seats and looked at the direction of the program group. Producer Kim didn't speak, but he stretched out his hand to signal everyone to look at a big screen hanging directly above the conference room.
