After Smith picked up the call, Gao Guang went straight to the point, "Mr. Smith, there's something I need to clarify. I'm not trying to undermine your relationship with Danny, but I must know if you trust him."
It was so direct, he even skipped the pleasantries.
Smith paused for a moment before asking, "What's going on? Did something happen?"
There must be something, or Gao Guang wouldn't have asked this.
Gao Guang didn't answer directly.
"Yes, I've received some intelligence suggesting that your assassination attempt by Shadowless might be connected to Danny. I have no evidence, I haven't investigated, but in our line of work, suspicion alone is enough. So, before I look into it, I want to know if you harbor the same doubts about Danny, if you trust him completely!"
After a long silence, Smith suddenly asked, "Can you find out?"
