Leonid stopped breathing.
Carlos said in extreme frustration, "If only I had an assistant, really, if I had an assistant, it wouldn't have come to this."
After putting down the surgical forceps, Carlos reached his blood-stained hand into the emergency kit and pulled out a pre-filled syringe, snapped off the protective cover with his hand, and with a click, plunged it into Leonid's chest.
After administering the injection, Carlos turned to Gao Guang and said, "Artificial respiration, we don't have a ventilator, so we'll have to do it manually."
Gao Guang was stunned, he looked at the eviscerated Leonid, and asked, "Now?"
"Quick!"
Gao Guang, in a daze, set down the flashlight. He swallowed, wiped his mouth, then pinched Leonid's nose with one hand and pried open his mouth with the other.
Artificial respiration, there was no other choice to save a life. But... but it really didn't feel good.
