The rest of the party quickly realized the same thing, apart from Kriff.
Kriff's full attention was on the greater elemental. It had been a couple months since he had last wielded a shield, and that was only during some training exercises. However, Kriff was determined to use it and prove to Bil that he could follow in his new master's footsteps.
Bil may have been casually watching, but he was paying close attention to everything. He was only able to relax because the challenge wasn't too difficult. "... Hurry, Jash, or you'll get flanked."
"Huh?!" Startled to hear that, Jash glanced around him but found nothing unordinary. So he quickly refocused on the elemental in front of him. His fire and wind finally blended together on his third attempt, cleaving through the elemental in one chop. But the core still needed to be found, so Jash chopped again and again.
