"So he's that sort of soldier…" Bil gulped down some beer. "Hath, what brought you two to Frantoch? Really?"
"... Don't tell anyone this…" Hath chuckled, motioning for Bil to lean over the table, as if the entire place wasn't already covered in silence seals. "... We're here on Falix's orders."
Playing along, Bil gasped, "Really? Why's that?"
Chugging the rest of his beer, Hathon nodded. "Cause… Falix always likes to be one step ahead."
"One step ahead of who?"
"Nah! I think the general's stuck in his dreams!" Golbert chuckled, chugging more and more beer.
"Slow down, Golby, or you'll pass out too soon," Hathon laughed, slapping Golbert's back and getting him to spit a mouthful of beer.
"One step ahead of who, Hath?" Bil repeated his question, filling Hathon's mug while he asked.
Hathon accepted the beer and nodded slowly, again motioning for Bil to lean in close. "You know… that legend about the Conqueror? The one where he faked his death?"
