Suddenly, a barrage of thick blue lightning crashed into the stone floor between Chowan and Zac. A couple of bolts even flew toward Chowan, forcing the chief of staff to react against the surprise attack, which had come from the nearby stairway to the barricade battle below.
Defending against the lightning wasn't a hassle for Chowan. But that second bought enough time for a new arrival to step in, throwing Chowan's proud, imminent victory back into question.
"All barricades are holding strong! So I'm finally here as requested."
Through his heavy panting, Zac smiled and finally wiped the blood from his lips.
Jash was both startled and ecstatic to see the new arrival. If Jash wasn't busy evading and countering the most recent barrage of lightning, Jash would've shouted in praise.
