Chapter 1 - Prolouge

A young boy sat in the dark corners of his room, clutching his body in fear. The shouting of his parents at his door made him both sad and disappointed. It was all his fault that they were mad. It was all his fault that he was bullied. It was all his fault that he was powerless.

His parents, his siblings, and even his cousins and classmates, all of them had superpowers. Yet, why didn't he have any? It was because he was scum. He was simply born to live a life of despair.

Ever since he was born, the expectations piled upon him. For Rhys, it was heavy, and it only got heavier and heavier as time passed. Slowly, his parents realized that their child was useless.

Bullies picked on him, his classmates looked down on him, and his parents hit him for his misdeeds as a Powered.

Even the sturdiest building is bound to fall. And his tower of self eventually collapsed.

After the demons left, Rhys was left alone inside his room, in a pool of his own misery. Nearby, a light shone on his nightstand, and onto a razor knife. It was as if it was his only hope to get out now.

He took the knife, readying it towards his chest. Tears flowed out of his eyes.

He wanted to die, but why wouldn't his body commit to it?

What was the point of suffering meaninglessly?

Being alive meant suffering, but being dead meant none.

Everyone would rejoice in his disappearance from the world.

The knife got closer and closer to his heart. His hands trembled from fear.

Fear for what death was like.

The 'courage' in his heart burned through the fear.

The knife was right above his chest...

But then, right before he was about to taste death...

A sudden blue light appeared before Rhys's eyes.
