In a huff, Kai stomped his feet down the corridor.
"Kai, wait up!" Rome hollered from behind him as he heard the rest of his friends marching along to catch up to his trail. Once they did, Kai vanished with them. Together they went to the hotel's bar. A few humans were within the premises, and a handful were at the bar, having a drink while they chatted amongst one another. The atmosphere was preferably cozy with a warm welcoming sense to it. Mr. Collin always intended for all his hotels to feel like a getaway for these humans and for their Kind, which were unknowingly hidden among them.
Placed in the center of the room was a rectangular-shaped bar, where Kai took a seat at a barstool. Behind the bar, was a vampire who was working with three human employees. The vampire was from his Coven, but he didn't have any rank status. Nevertheless, he was well-paid and cared for by the Collin Alphas, so he knew Kai Collin is the Headmaster's grandson. Before he was able to order a glass of fresh blood from the bartender vampire, Evan cut Rome off from taking a seat beside Kai. Instead, Evan took the seat next to Kai on the barstool.
"Give us some privacy," Evan told Kai's advisors. So they obliged by hanging out with his advisors, who knew each other anyway. Glenn's older brother chose to work under Evan for the Collin Coven, and Ivan's brother-in-law worked for him too. The large group backed away and chilled at a round table from behind their Clan Alphas.
"What do you want?" Kai rudely snorted.
"If you help me with something. I'll help you find Vlad." Evan got straight to the point with his offer.
"I'm not in the mood for any of your games." Kai lowered his voice into a hiss, and then he motioned his hand to the vampire bartender for what he needed. There was always a fresh bottle of blood stored for them from the unfortunate soul that had been recently slaughtered like a cow to contain it. Any hotel, restaurant, bar, or place which served food and drinks that are owned by a vampire always had fresh bottles of blood. To request their special drink, all the vampires or vampiresses had to do was use a word or hand motion to order it. Vampire-owned businesses were similar to H.H. Holmes's murder castle. Whichever the chosen victim would be between man or woman. Will always be unknowingly led to the hidden slaughter chamber. Murder was easy since Alpha vampires owned the highest authority in their worlds, earth included. Having a softer empathy, Mr. Collin chose people who had limited days to meet the death angel because his one gift can foresee their death before it was to happen. Of course, other Covens didn't always care who they slaughtered, so they'd pick whoever, including children, who would wander too far from their families.
After the vampire poured them each a glass of blood, Evan sighed as Kai took his first sip. "You're not going to hear me out first?"
"No!" Kai gruffed. "Enough has been heard for one day, and I do not wish to talk about it anymore."
"Would you at least—"
Again Evan tried to speak, but Kai cut him off short, and he said in a low-volume hush. "I am sick of this family. No one takes my words seriously about the Vampire Coven. Neither does anyone heed my warning about those Mills. You all claim you'll keep my wife safe, yet nobody listens to me, so please leave me be."
Not letting it go, Evan tried speaking again, this time in a quieter voice. "The family feels the only reason why you're acting like this toward those Mills is because Victoria loves Orlando, but that doesn't mean I am blind to what is going on."
Being unreasonable as he normally is whenever he's in this kinda mood, Kai whispered under his breath. "Leave me alone."
Once again Evan sighed, and he pulled out a business card from his pocket. "When you run out of options to find Vlad's resting place, or if you fail to find a haven to take Victoria, come to this address so we can talk," he said, sliding the card to him from on top of the bar table. Afterward, he chugged his glass of blood in one swig, and then he got up to leave Kai to sulk in his pitiful petulance. Evan already knew when his cousin was in these kinds of moods, he couldn't be reasoned with. He didn't take it to heart because he knew his cousin was in despair, and his mind wasn't always clear, which made him have a sour attitude toward others, but mostly with his family. Instead of wasting his time with Kai, he went over to his advisors and Kai's advisors, who were still sitting around the circular table.
"Good luck with him," Evan forewarned Kai's friends about his mood, which were also his friends too.
"He's had it rough lately. Not having Victoria's heart gets to him badly," Ivan justified Kai's behavior as they all peeked over to the bar, staring at Kai's back, which was facing them.
"I know." Evan sighed. "He should just tell her the truth. Then she can heal, and her heart can move on to him."
"He's convinced himself that it's safer for her not to know," Ace replied with a gloomy frown between Glenn and his brother.
After taking a second to think about it, Evan then spoke. "He might be right about that. Our Coven may want peace, but that isn't a reality. Kai is more right than the rest of our family is willing to acknowledge."
"Most of us can agree to that." Glenn replied, and Evan gave a head nod in agreement.
"After he's calmed down, try to talk with him," Evan told them as his advisors stood from their seats. "I gave him my address to my new beach house. Once he can be reasoned with, tell him I can keep his wife safe. I have a place."
"We will talk to him," Glenn guaranteed.
"Catch you guys later." Evan delivered his farewell before he left with his advisors.
