Chapter 282 - **Ch 297: Rebecca's Risking It

After my mind recovered from what I had witnessed, Kai took me back to the party. By the time we arrived at the party again, I found Rome was now making out with Gabby. Tonight he was irritating me worse than he usually does. All I could do was look past it.

I held onto Kai's bent forearm as we walked toward his cousin Ava and John, her husband. It wasn't until we approached them that I discovered Samantha and Rebecca were talking to them. Officially it is awkward to see Rebecca was best friends with Kai's ex and with his cousin.

Once we stood with them, I saw Rebecca ogling my husband's body up and down. She was practically drooling over him, which was more irritating compared to witnessing her making out with Rome. To my better fortune, Kai didn't care to notice her while he was busy talking to John, which was best because I know he'll kill Rebecca without needing to question it myself. Sure, we didn't get along, but that does not mean I'd wish for her to die. Unlike my husband, my heart wasn't unethical.

"How was trick or treating?" Ava asked me with a rejuvenated smile. There was such an invigoration about her spirit that shone within her ever since she's been pregnant.

"It was a lot of fun. Right, Kai?" I answered in delight when getting my husband involved in this conversation.

"Oh, Kai went too?" Ava noted, nearly biting her lip to prevent herself from giggling aloud. I could tell she knew her cousin way too well.

"Unfortunately, I was kidnapped and dragged against my will." Kai jokes.

I think Ava and I laughed the loudest over everybody else.

Next to his wife, Ava. "I feel your pain." John teasingly sympathized with him.

"It will be good practice for you guys whenever we go with our kids someday, right, Victoria?" Ava chuckled cutely as she hinted for me to back her up.

I giggled happily at my husband to my right. "That's what I told him," I express, full-heartedly.

Toward my left, I saw Rebecca and Samantha roll their eyes. Since I joined the conversation, their gleeful smile had turned upside down into a scoffed frown. Same with their fun exuberance, which had perished into a dead state.

"I didn't realize you knew, Victoria." Rebecca brought up as her eyes waved between Samantha and Ava beside her.

"As of recently," Samantha retorted in a snarky way next to me. Kai was quick to dart her a baleful warning with his dark gaze. I'm sure most of us caught that rudeness in her voice.

"How did you guys meet?" Rebecca questioned them suspiciously.

"Once Kai brought her around," Ava replied all too merrily. Kai, however, started to narrow his deadly eyes at Rebecca.

"Where did you two meet each other?" Rebecca pried whenever she moved her pointer finger at me and my husband.

"E-Egypt!" I was quick to answer with a noticeable stammer. It wasn't a lie because I did meet him there. Only I didn't realize he was disguised as an ancient dead pharaoh.

"But weren't you in jail?" Rebecca still pressed her interrogation, and I knew this wasn't going to end well for her if she kept it up.

"It was before that happened." I clarified, yet my tone came out vulnerable to me.

"So let me get this straight. You leave for Egypt only to cheat on Orlando to be with Kai?" Rebecca giggles at the irony.

Kai narrowed an uglier menaced sight as he spoke between his gritted teeth. "She found out I am far better than that slime!"

Rebecca seemed setback by his icy demeanor. For a second, her tongue was tied in a knot. Unfortunately, it didn't stay that way whenever she cracked up. "Wow, Victoria! You really are a go-getter kinda girl!" she howled in laughter.

Apparently, Kai's snarl wasn't enough to get her to stop. Samantha even laughed with her, but the rest of us, didn't find it funny. More than anything, Ava and John seemed concerned. Kai seemed like he was ready to rip her throat out at any given moment. It came so suddenly that Rebecca stopped laughing. Those cocky eyes of hers became glossy, and she stared into a loss haze. Her whole body straightened before she stood dead still without a twitch. If it wasn't for her exposed stomach to show she was breathing, I'd believe she was dead.

"If you don't get her out of here, I will gladly remove her head from her neck." Kai lowered his tone with a snarl, and it was then I knew he had Rebecca under his trance. Over a hundred people were in the gallery, yet none noticed Rebecca's life was at risk.

"Gently release her, and she will." Ava was the one who spoke, trying to reason with him. On the other hand, Samantha glared at Kai. She didn't seem alarmed enough to care for his warning.

"She's only making a joke," Samantha growled. "There is no reason to get all huffy about it."

Kai snarled meanly. "She's asking too many questions, and I don't like the tone she has towards my wife."

"Ok, I'll remove her if you would kindly release her from your gift," Samantha said in a sweeter voice. Finally, she got the hint that Kai wasn't messing around.

I guess she knew he was right about her asking too many questions. Although, I'm certain Samantha didn't care about Rebecca being rude to me. Nevertheless, Kai gave in and released her mind. At first, Rebecca appeared dazed whenever she asked. "What was I talking about? I sorta blacked out for a second."

"We were about to get some drinks and flirt with those hunks over at the barstools." Samantha played it real smoothly whenever she made a gesture for her to look up at a few guys over at the bar that were quite fetching to the eyes.

"Ohh, right, I knew that!" Rebecca coolly replies.

Of course, she was far more shallow than I thought whenever she acted as if she knew what Samantha was referring to. Despite this fact, she was perplexed barely a second ago. Nonetheless, they took off to socialize elsewhere, which lessened my nerves.

Kai wrapped his arm around my waist as he leaned me toward him to kiss my temple to soothe me. A warm sensation fluttered within my heart. It was just what I needed. Aside from the stress Rebecca caused, I was very grateful that he was here right now to stop her. I only hope he doesn't go behind my back to murder her.
