Chapter 32 - Ch 47: Duck Pond Park

"That will be sixty-seven," The pretty brown-haired cashier girl said, flirting with her eyes at Kai. Nonetheless, I was fairly amazed to watch as Ka took out his wallet. He had cash and some credit cards neatly arranged in the slit pockets. He insisted the card for the chip to be read. Surprisingly, he knew how to use it without any help.

"Thank you, I hope I see you again handsome," The young lady said, handing him the receipt. I couldn't believe she was flirting with him with me standing here. Kai took the receipt and ignored her, looking at me.

"Are you ready, my love?" He asked me in such a smooth-talking way. I heard the woman huff with jealousy. I giggled, if only this young girl knew what I was dealing with. I could only imagine the look on her face if I told her I was kidnapped by this man and he has bound me to marry him without any choice. Yeah, she'd probably think I was crazy.

When we walked outside I saw Rome in his sports car. It looked like he was counting pieces of torn paper but I could be wrong.

Kai and I both unloaded the groceries then we got in the car. Undoubtedly, Rome was counting paper that looked like written down phone numbers.

"How many did you get?" Kai chuckled asking him.

"Twenty-six numbers from some hotties," Rome replied çhuckling with Kai. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at how ridiculous this sounds. Then I saw a number in the back seat with me.

"Don't you mean twenty-seven?" I asked, holding it out.

Rome chuckled, taking it off me. He balled it up, tossing it somewhere by Kai's shoes. "I don't count her, she has baggage."

"Baggage?" I repeat.

"Yeah, she has two kids," Rome replied.

I rolled my eyes asking. "Then why would you flirt with her?"

"Because she was a hot mama," Rome and Kai both cracked up laughing.

"Well, you certainly kept yourself busy," I said, rolling my eyes. We were hardly in there for forty-five minutes. And we come back to find out he surely wasn't bored.

"I always do, princess," Rome said gloating. "I always do."

I growled. "Stop calling me that!"

"Never!" Rome said like a child and then started his boisterous roaring car. He revved it up and took off speeding down the roadway.

"Would you slow down!" I screamed when hinting into my door side.

"Speed up!" Rome taunted, "okay, if you say so, princess!"

Rome hit the gas pedal to the floor laughing.

"Rome!" I screamed seeing he was reaching 223mph as he flew around other cars. People were beeping at us like crazy!

"Kai!" I gave up on Rome and hoped Kai would stop him.

"Alright, Rome, slow down," Kai told him çhuckling and Rome slowed down laughing.

"You're no fun, princess," Rome poked fun at me.

"Yeah because unlike you I care about my life!" I yelled at him.

Rome and Kai laughed at me for the moment and I really hate them both right about now.

"Where too?" Rome asked Kai.

"Back home," Kai replied.

Rome laughed suggesting. "You know what you need Kai, a good walk at the duck pond park."

"What!" Kai's reaction was seemingly priceless and I couldn't help but laugh and wonder what Rome was up too now.

"Yup, I think the duck pond will do," Rome teased. "What do you say, princess?"

"Honestly, I love the duck pond," I replied, ignoring the fact that he called me princess again.

"Oh, what are the odds so does Kai." Rome said like this chirpy boy. I could tell he was so mocking Kai.

Rome took this sharp turn and pulled into the duck pond park. "I'll unload the groceries and be back to get you guys," Rome said as he leaned over opening up Kai's door for him since he refused to budge. It looked so wrong but it was so hilarious to watch from my point of view. Kai's body posture was stiffer than a broad in his seat.

"Rome I am going to kill you later tonight," Kai threatened and he sounded quite serious when he said it. But Rome didn't take his threat seriously and laughed like crazy.

"You'll thank me!" Rome told Kai and shoved his shoulder making Kai get out. "Don't forget to buy some duck food!"

I couldn't help but laugh as I stood up and got out with Kai. Getting mad, Kai slammed Rome's door and then he took off speeding. I heard Kai groan in annoyance and he took a huge exhale.

Then he looked at me asking, "what would you like to do while I plot how I am going to murder my best friend."

I laughed at him as his grumpy face finally broke a smile. "Let's go buy some duck food and take a walk around the pond."

Kai kept his light smile and we walked away to find a stand selling duck food. He paid for a bucket in cash. Then we walked around the pond that was filled with ducks, swans, and even koi fish. I giggled to see Kai scoff his lips at the ducks flocking to me for a treat. I even had koi fish swimming up. When I looked at Kai, he smiled at me. Then he sat down with me in the grass.

"Why don't you like animals?" I asked him.

Kai kinda chuckles, "I'm not an animal lover."

"Is there a reason why?" I further asked, trying to figure out this grumpy young man.

"I just think they're a nuisance," he answered quite seriously but I giggled.

A few ducklings came out of the water peeping at us. One tried climbing on Kai's lap but he stood up before that would ever happen. He had such a disgusted expression plastered on his face. I laughed hysterically and fed the cute ducklings. I got to play with them and even held them.

Meanwhile, Kai looked at them like they were tiny plagues. Once the peeps were satisfied they swam back in and I washed my hands at this outside sanitizing station the park had.

"Let's head to the bridge," Kai said, gazing at me. I saw up ahead was the bridge with some beautiful swans swimming around it. So I grabbed the buck of feed and we went to it. I sprinkled some feed into the water and watched as swans and larger size koi fish swam up to eat it. The mood was seemingly romantic and Kai just watched me enjoying myself.
