Chapter 47 - Anne, Lisa and Carol's past (15)

Lisa, still under the watchful eyes of the medical team, was hurried into a patient van reminiscent of the one that had whisked her away to the airport on the other side of the country. A sense of urgency hung in the air as the doors closed behind her.

Outside, two cars with different models, size and color, were ready for their respective roles. One car was prepared to accompany the van carrying Lisa to the hospital, while another was designated to escort both Nina and Abel back to the family house.

Despite his desire to accompany Lisa to the hospital, Abel's father had other plans. Strict instructions were laid out – once the private jet touched down, Abel was to head straight home. This arrangement was quite unsettling to Abel such that the moment he got into the car that was escorting them home he was no longer feeling comfortable.

Nina, with a hint of worry, inquired, "What's bothering you, Abel? Your nerves are showing. Did you notice how much you were fidgeting?"

Abel met her gaze but stayed silent, the weight of his actions sinking in.

Nina's tone turned sarcastic, "Ah, realisation kicking in, huh? Now that you understand the mess you've made, are you scared to face the music? Going home seems a bit daunting now, doesn't it?" She chuckled, emphasising the irony of the situation. Abel didn't say a word, he just silently averted his gaze from her, stared at the window and let his mind wander.

Abel had carved a formidable reputation for himself, known for his fearlessness, ruthlessness, and the swift elimination of anyone he deemed necessary. Despite his prominence, he had a loving father who granted him leadership but despised the fact that Abel rarely heeded his advice or guidance.

In the dynamic world of their business, Abel's father aspired to shape a leader who blended toughness with compassion. However, Abel's path unfolded quite differently. Despite earnest attempts for heartfelt conversations, a meaningful connection remained elusive. The endeavor to steer Abel towards a more conventional life, away from the organization's complexities, proved fruitless. As the realization sank in, a sense of fear crept into Abel's father, witnessing the unraveling of his child's path with growing concern.

In his role as a father, he displayed remarkable patience, holding onto the hope that his child would eventually see the light. Yet, despite his unwavering efforts, the situation continued to worsen, adding to his growing concern. In fact, Abel became rebellious such that, at one point in the midst of a covert mission, he ruthlessly executed individuals, leaving a trail of blood that displeased his father. Trying to rein him in, Abel's father used connections to arrange a one-year jail sentence for him. Little did he know, that time frame would prove overly optimistic.

As the prison doors clanged shut, Abel wasted no time making his mark. The first month saw calculated violence, earning him respect from fellow inmates. But Abel's craving for freedom persisted.

In the second month, he tried a daring escape, causing chaos and leaving the prison in shock.Undeterred, Abel kept stirring trouble.

The third month brought a major disturbance as Abel's rebellion challenged the prison's core.

The fourth month saw him starting a fire, casting eerie shadows in the confined space.Abel's spirit remained unbroken in the fifth month, attempting yet another escape.

The authorities struggled to contain a prisoner seemingly immune to confinement. As the sixth month approached, Abel's story reached a peak. He orchestrated a serious case of food poisoning, affecting inmates and even the prison staff. The controlled environment spiraled into chaos, reflecting the turmoil within Abel himself.

No matter the punishment looming in jail, Abel welcomed it as if it were just another part of his training. The one thing he couldn't stomach was a hit to his face, prompting him to take drastic measures, eliminating both inmates and staff. Even in isolation, he showcased a talent for transforming seemingly pointless situations into both useful and potentially harmful outcomes.

Within the prison's cold walls, Abel's tale unfolded like a gripping novel, each chapter marked by defiance, rebellion, and an unwavering determination that defied the very idea of being confined.

Abel's dad got wind of all the trouble and decided to teach him a lesson. Instead of keeping him in jail, he chose a different punishment. Abel was brought back home, but it wasn't a warm welcome. The ever smiling and nice father, became cold and strict.

His dad grounded him in a rundown house in the woods. It wasn't a cozy place; it was old, dirty, infested with rats, bugs and surrounded by nature. Forget about modern stuff – there was no internet, no phone signal, not even a single book to pass the time. Plus, no electricity.

Abel found himself stuck in a quiet and isolated place with little food and water that he was occasionally given just to sustain his life. The usual noise of the world was replaced by the sounds of the woods, and the movement of his father's top notch security guards and dogs who were moving outside. Without gadgets or distractions, he had to face what he'd done. His father had given him a strict warning not to play any more funny tricks otherwise he will face more dire consequences.

He was confined for six months and this time alone made Abel think about his actions. The woods, once a place of escape, became a place for him to figure things out. No fancy stuff, just him and the consequences of what he did. The lessons he learned in that lonely house would stick with him for a long time. The worst part was that the place he was confined in wasn't suitable for a clean freak like him. Somehow, this punishment got him scared of his father, because after he was released, he couldn't stop thinking about what other worst things would his father do to him if he kept on not listening to him. But it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks, his father's punishment had instilled fear and shook his relationship a bit with him but it couldn't change who he was. A few months later he was still the same, stubborn, ruthless and unreasonable what just changed was that he would make sure word of his actions wouldn't get to his father or it would reach him once it's too late to ammend.

In just an hour and a half, Abel felt rushed to get ready to talk to his dad. Their car pulled up outside their big family home before he was ready. This home had double tight security that consisted of top notch technology. Abel's dad had always wanted to live a very quiet, low key and simple life so outside their gate there were no security guards only inside was a patrolling team, that would make sure that no intruder would get in or pry on the family's privacy. Abel took five minutes to calm down and step out of the car, and so did Nina.

The house, where family stories unfolded, felt heavy with the past as Abel walked in. The door, an entry to warmth once, now stood between Abel and the talk he couldn't avoid. Every squeak of the floor seemed to remind him of unsaid things.

Inside, the room was lit softly, setting the scene for the meeting. Abel's dad, a mix of strictness and hidden feelings, was there, sitting in the lounge, on one of his favourite seats, which was a black leather couch that faced the entrance door. Their eyes met, and the quiet spoke louder than words, carrying the weight of untold stories.

Abel stepped into the room with a sense of apprehension, half-expecting a swift reprimand from his dad in the form of a slap or a punch. To his surprise, his father withheld any immediate reaction, maintaining a heavy silence. The room seemed to hold its breath as Abel and Nina settled on a double couch, their presence punctuating the tension.

Rather than engaging in customary greetings, Abel's dad began a stern lecture. His voice carried a weighty seriousness as he delved into a discourse, addressing Abel's actions that had led to this moment. The lecture unfolded like a script from a dramatic movie, each word contributing to the building intensity in the room.

Abel's father, his frustration evident, continues, "I've emphasized this before, and here we are again. Your impulsive decisions have consequences, and now Luiza is in the hospital, battling for her life and the life of her child. Your lack of patience and consideration has put them in this situation. Have you even considered the gravity of what might happen? What's your plan if you lose both mother and child, or either of them? How old are you, why do you keep making trouble as if you are a kid?"

Abel's father awaited a response, but Abel, seemingly unmoved, remained silent. Nina shot him a glance, her eyes echoing the warnings she had given earlier. Despite his fear of his father, Abel stood firm, convinced that his actions were justified. The tension in the room lingered as his father patiently waited for an explanation.

However, before Abel could speak, a sudden interruption came in the form of a ringing phone. The hospital's call about Lisa's condition disrupted the tense atmosphere, prompting all attention to shift from the impending confrontation to the urgent news from the other end of the line.
