"Who is the father of the child?"
This question stunned Camille as she blinked her wide eyes in a daze while staring at the man who she now knew was this body's older brother.
Earlier, she had been able to assimilate the memories of this body into her mind which helped her treat him just as the former Camille would.
Therefore, this elder brother did not doubt that she was someone else as her demeanor and personality were also quite similar to the real Camille who was no longer here.
She had been an orphan in her previous life which ended in a plane crash so she wondered if she could experience the joy of having a family in this second chance at life that she had been granted for some mysterious reason.
The allergic reaction which had brought the former Camille to the hospital was too strenuous on her body and she seemed to have died which had allowed her soul to attach itself to this empty vessel.
It was without a doubt that she was sad for the former Camille who had died on the way to the hospital, but at the same time, she yearned to use this second chance to the best of her abilities and live a better life.
'Am I a bad person to think this way?' She questioned herself as she truly did not know why she had been brought to this world.
However, what she did know was that the former Camille was no longer here and it was she who had taken her place through a bizarre streak of fate.
Now that she was Camille, she wished to live a good life for both of their sakes.
The thoughts in her mind were traveling along this route when she heard that stern query coming from the man who had now become her elder brother.
'Huh?' She blinked innocently as she had not straightened her thoughts out entirely by then.
Unfortunately, her lack of response only made the older brother leer at her with his fury rising within him for each second she remained silent.
"Why do you have to think so hard!? Who is that bastard?" He repeated his question but this time, his choice of words was harsher than before.
He had taken his sister out for an early dinner this evening but due to the restaurant's negligence, they had brought her a dish that contained an allergen.
Just one bite out of her plate was enough to cause her throat to swell up and she turned pale right before his eyes.
This sight was enough to send his mind into panic mode and he had rushed her to the nearest hospital he could find.
Thankfully, this place was one of the best hospitals in their city and was known to have a large number of talented doctors working around the clock here.
While it was more expensive than the regular hospitals, he did not mind as long as his sister was alright.
Therefore, he had rushed her here and urged the first doctor he could find to treat her as her heartbeat had already dropped low and he could not sense her breathing when he had carried her inside.
Sensing the urgency of the situation, the doctors in the emergency room had taken her away with haste and let him visit her only when she was out of immediate danger.
Since she was still weak and unconscious, they had shifted her to a private ward upstairs and he had been here, guarding her room ever since.
They had arrived at the hospital at seven and right now, it was close to midnight which implied that she had been unconscious for the past five hours while he waited for her without moving an inch.
However, how was he to know that his unconscious sister was still capable of giving him the biggest surprise of his life?
The doctor who had treated her for her severe allergy had asked the nurse to run some tests on her and two hours later, the reports had been sent to this room.
Imagine the shock he had received when he discovered that his single and workaholic baby sister was said to be pregnant.
Not just pregnant, she was twelve weeks pregnant so his shock was understandable.
She was close to reaching her third month of pregnancy but no one at home had any clue about this.
They were each dealing with their individual tasks but no one was so busy as to not have the time to care for her health.
She was the apple of their eyes after all, so how could she keep such a major event in her life a secret from them!?
This thought had been circulating and ruminating in his head for the past three hours as he watched her resting on the bed.
Various explanations for her bizarre actions filled his mind but he had no way of learning which one was true.
A few minutes earlier, he had heard the groan that echoed in the room and had realized that she was finally awake.
However, the first thing she did was to lovingly caress her stomach which revealed that she had been aware of her pregnancy.
Moments earlier, he had been coaxing himself that she too was ignorant of the fact that she had somehow gotten pregnant and thus had failed to inform them about it.
Unfortunately, when he saw that gentle action, those false hopes he was giving himself crashed and burned.
'So she knew but kept it a secret?' He gritted his teeth as he stared at her caressing her stomach.
For her to keep this matter concealed could only imply one of two conclusions.
Either she was scared to inform them of this matter or she was ashamed to reveal it to them.
Whichever one it could have been, he was not pleased with either.
However, soon a newer and bigger question appeared in his mind.
'Which bastard dared to impregnate my sister!?' He was seething on the inside as he knew that she was not dating anyone right now.
He would have known if there was a man in her life which further increased his fury upon realizing that some unknown man had gotten her pregnant.
Therefore, he was anxious and hasty when he interrogated the identity of the man who had done so.
However, to his dismay, his little sister stared at him with a blank look on her face.
'Father of my child…' Camille was startled and speechless when those words left her new elder brother's mouth.
She was just about to refute, declaring that she was still a virgin and had not slept with anyone when she accidentally glanced at her hand which was still caressing her stomach even now.
This sight induced another series of memories to appear in her mind, making her grimace at how full she felt.
However, these memories helped her gain a better understanding of the situation she was currently in so she could only bear the pain in silence.
With her head lowered and her eyes glued to her stomach, she bit her lip when she grasped why her brother had questioned her about this matter.
'I did not just transmigrate…' She frowned when the memories of the current body clashed with her past memories, coinciding at a single point.
'I transmigrated into a book!?' She gulped her saliva to swallow the lump that had formed in her throat when she realized where she truly was and how she had reached this place.
