"Tyson.." Chi muttered under his breath without thinking at the sounds of the explosions going on outside. He was not sure what was going on but it was making him worry for the sake of the others.
"Looks like I wont need your assistance after all.." Nova spoke while his head throbbed at the thought of his brother, Hide, acting recklessly. It was not like Hide to lose focus unless Nova was involved. Glancing over at Chi on the other side of the iron bars he considered his options. If he took the chance he could possibly take Chi down when his partners showed up.
A hint of something brown could be seen poking out from Chi's clothes that he had stuffed inside. It was not hard to realize what it was right away. Though it was something that you did not see very often within Numen's Garden unless you were from the higher areas where the ruins of cities could be found. Nobody wasted effort to carry such items around that gave no purpose to their survival.
"Why.. would you carry a book around? That dead weight.." Nova started talking but it did not take long for Chi to turn his gaze onto Nova.
"There is no such thing as dead weight to weigh someone down unless it is something that you allow yourself to be weighed down by of your own volition." Chi knew that the book might not be something most people would carry around. Tyson did not know that he even stole it from his room and carried it around, reading it almost daily when nobody was aware. Had it not been for the fact that he was still healing from the Black Widow's wound on his side the book would not be as complicated to keep from slipping out of his clothes. However, he could not find it in himself to part with it knowing who had written it; Tyson.
"Hmm?" Nova sat there in silence for a moment.
"Tyson wrote it himself.. It's not dead weight for me to hold on to it.. The portal that's at the temple of Kalen.. Where does it lead?" Chi quickly tossed out another question in Nova's direction.
"The portal at Kalen's Temple?. You really know nothing.." Nova sighed heavily. "You'll end up dying regardless of what I tell you anyways.. Wait.. does that book talk about the dimension?"
A book that carried information on the dimension itself was not something one would normally see in the slightest. To own something like that would be like having your own guide within Numen's Garden if you did not know about the place already. Even if you did know about the garden there were always areas where little or no knowledge was on hand. For someone who had spent as long as Tyson surviving in Numen's Garden each year and gaining his own knowledge to write about his own knowledge of the dimension meant the information's quality would not be little. If anything, Chi was carrying around a gold mine of knowledge without realizing it.
Nova did not care about the knowledge of the realm. Having his own intentions in mind his body shook slightly for a moment. Looking Nova straight in the eyes as he spoke.
"I'll make a deal with you.." Nova's voice came out quick and blunt. He was not trying to hide his intentions in the least. "Let me have a look at the book.. Just a look.. I want to see if something is in it that I'd like to know about if he wrote it down.. If you grant me that- I will tell you something I do know about Zeref and Tyson."
Chi grit his teeth slightly as he contemplated the idea highly. He wanted to learn what he could but at the same time he did not know if he could trust Nova with the book. Though it was only a book so he did not see what harm it could cause to allow the man to simple look at it.
Opening the cell and making his way inside he walked over to Nova with a nod he handed the book over to the man. Holding out the book to the man's trembling hand. The expression behind Nova's dark eyes was unreadable but it was like he was holding onto a faint spark of hope that he would find something he was looking for.
Nova flipped the pages carefully but quickly so that he could try and find what he was searching for before the others showed up for him.
Eventually he paused on a specific page that held interest to him. Knowing that Chi did not understand what he was looking for it was easy for him to search the book as he pleased but having found what he wanted to know his interest was already lost in it. He knew he had the chance to look further but he simply did not care to bother with it. As big a treasure as the book was it carried just as much weight that Chi failed to see for the one who truly carried it with them.
"I found what I wanted to know.. Thank you." Nova said as he surrendered the book back over to Chi. His eyes not even looking in Chi's direction as if what he had read felt heavy.
"What was it?" Chi asked curiously without thinking. Once the words had left his mouth he felt regretful for prying though he still wanted to know.
"I wanted to know about someone who ain't around anymore.. Moving on.. " Nova did not feel like talking about what he wanted to look at but he had already made a deal with Chi so he began to divert the man's attention and hurry their conversation along.
"You said you'll tell me something about the two of them. What is it?" Chi pushed for the information he wanted to know. He had no interest in prying into Nova's personal matters.
"Yea, I know. A deal is a deal.." Nova started. "Zeref doesn't personally have animosity with Tyson. Tyson has never liked Zeref due to how loyal the man is to enact in Numen's orders. Zeref eventually came to return the hatred that Tyson had for him because Tyson refused to work under Zeref and continued to do his own thing regardless of how many times Zeref tried to rope him in. It's what I heard from others.. I guess you could say I think Zeref thinks of Tyson as a stain to Numen's reputation or something.. I don't understand what is up with him. it's all just hearsay."
Chi was starting to feel a bit cheated on his side of the agreement they had with each other.
Knowing that he could not waste much more time standing around the cell with Nova he turned and left the cell. Pushing the door closed as he left it and rushing off down the hall so that he would not get caught.
