"This is where you wanted me to go with you guys?" Lester sighed heavily as he stared at the building in front of them. He could understand why Duan Cai would want to bring someone with him to such a place.
In front of them stood the ruins of what had once been the family home of the mortals that had raised his body's former owner. Duan Cai was not certain himself what he wanted in coming to this place, but for some reason a part of him had desired to visit the place at least once before he moved forward with his plans. A lump in his throat could be felt as he walked among the rubble of what had once been a small family home. The obvious feeling of eyes watching him could be felt at his back as Leon and Lester stood quietly on the street to wait for him.
"I wont lose her too." Duan Cai muttered under his breath as he looked around for clues towards the whereabouts of the mortal sister he now had.
Kneeling down slowly among the rubble of the building his body began to emit a faint golden light. His eyes slitting like that of a dragon as he put all his focus into his senses. There were many things he knew about the truth that still pained him to feel among the rubble. With his senses heightened he could even smell the heavy scent of blood, sweat, and tears from the parents that had once belonged to his new form. After a few moments of enduring the pain of sensing the truth from the rubble he caught the trail he had been looking for. Using all his capabilities to push further into it the golden light grew brighter until he caught on to the direction she had fled the house in.
"I'm coming," he said out loud as he glanced in the direction Iris had ran. "hold on."
When it came to leaving things in the hands of mortals to figure out for him it felt like they took too long. If he was going to find out where the girl had fled to he felt he was going to need to take things into his own hands a bit. It was not the first time he had seen mortals become utterly hopeless in their attempts to aid him. In his past life as a god he had seen many mortals who wished to aid him only to fail.
As he took a few steps in the direction the clues were leading him something caught his eye as the golden glow faded away as if it had never been there. Lester was beginning to walk towards him from where Leon and him had been standing. There was a slight pained expression on his face as if he felt sorry for Duan Cai to have to see such a sight of what had once been his family home. The sight itself might have pained Duan Cai but he had not accepted the family as his own, yet so he was not aware of the reason he had cried over them when Bullet had pushed him to the point of breaking down.
"Are you alright, Duan Cai?" Lester quietly asked as he stopped beside him.
"I'm just taking care of some things. You don't need to worry about me." Duan Cai said as he smiled calmly at the worried man.
"Right.." Lester did not buy into Duan Cai's smile in the slightest. He could see the hint of pain behind those golden eyes of his. Reacting on what felt like his own instinct at the sight of that pained look in Duan Cai's eyes he could not stop himself from grabbing hold of Duan Cai's arm and pulling him into him.
Silence enveloped the area as Duan Cai's head was firmly held against Lester's warm chest. He could hear the sound of that beating heart racing at how close they both were to each other. Something about how Lester's warm hand held his head close against him felt calm and soothing. A faint blush slipped onto Duan Cai's face as he tried to understand what was going on. It felt like everyone was seeing things that he could not see about himself.
"Release me." Duan Cai scolded as he realized he had been touched without permission. He could feel his own pulse racing as he thought quickly on how to escape the warmth he felt. It was not even the first time Lester had randomly tried to hug him and yet something about it felt entirely different at the moment. The fact that he enjoyed it made him want to refuse it all the more.
"Ah! Sorry!" Lester's own face flushed slightly as he quickly let go of Duan Cai. Embarrassed by his own actions he could not keep himself from looking away. His gaze connecting with the sight of Leon trying to ignore the whole situation. It was obvious the man was feeling a bit uncomfortable at the situation he had just witnessed but knew better then to speak up about it.
"Leon, read the car! We're heading off now." Duan Cai shouted to Leon in order to detour the topic away from Lester. He did not want to talk about the awkward situation the man had just caused and so he quickly fled to Leon's side.
Lifting his hands up silently where he stood Lester gazed down at them. He could still feel the hint of warmth from Duan Cai's body that lingered on his hands. The beating of his heart could not relax until he shook the memory from his mind. Pushing all his feelings down into the pit of his stomach for now the only thing he could do was ignore his own selfish desires for the man he chose to give his full loyalty to. Even if Duan Cai requested it Lester was certain he would cave and give everything from his Yang Sect to his very life for the man. They would never understand the depth of his loyalty to Duan Cai but Lester was certain of what he felt.
Oh, Duan Cai, will you ever realize my love for you? Lester thought to himself as he stood there for a while alone til the car was ready for them to leave.
