"Duan Cai!" Lester shouted the moment he saw him come into view after walking in the mansion gateway.
Duan Cai was walking towards them at first when he noticed Lester shouting his name and paused in place. That troublesome man calling his name out gave him goosebumps for a moment. He found it hard to get use to the way he always had to shout his name whenever he came to visit. It was nothing new to him due to the past six months Lester had made it a habit to start coming and going from the Inferno Nexus to bring information for him any time he came across something he felt would come in use to Duan Cai.
"Lester, you're here today as well?" Duan Cai spoke with a questioning manner to try and avoid any unwanted attention from Lester.
"That's right!" Lester smirked as he grabbed Duan Cai's hand as if to shake it, but simply held it there in his hands with a smile on his face.
Duan Cai's brow twitched slightly for moment as he yanked his hand back from Lester and turned to check on Leon. He could see the man hauling the body of one of the spies from outside the mansion towards the mansion. There was no reason for him to worry about the situation because his abilities were beyond that of a mortal and he could easily sense that the unconscious man was still clinging to his life. From the corner of his eye he could see the bright expression on Lester's face while watching Duan Cai from the side.
There was no complaint that he had brushed Lester off, but Lester was aware of how Duan Cai was not that fond of physical contact with anyone. It was something that everyone who knew Duan Cai well enough had grown accustomed to over the months. Many people had wondered about it from the start as they came to presume that he simply had a phobia of being touched or something a normal mortal could easily use to make up a reason for such reactions from him. Their assumptions could be considered close, but also far from the truth however. It was not that Duan Cai disliked contact with others. The fact was that since Duan Cai had been born in his other world he had simply grown to distaste physical contact of any kind; especially when it was with a creature of lower standing than himself. He could easily tolerate the actions, but he was not accustomed to them so it was not easy for him to accept it. The strange human emotions they caused his new body to feel was still uncomfortable for him.
"What did you bring for me today?" Duan Cai turned his head to glance at Lester while he spoke.
"Hm? Ah, I don't really know much right now at this point. My sect as practically refrained from getting involved so you know how frustrating it is to get information at this point?" Lester grit his teeth in frustration as the fact that his sect was refraining from further involvement. He was not willing to sit back himself and not get involved so he found his own ways to get what he sought for by pushing himself to get involved in the underworld of society. His own sect already looked down on him so he felt no reason to hold back as long as it got his job done right.
"So you're useless today?" Duan Cai pretended to make a disappointed face at Lester causing him to take a step forward and raise his hand in mid air as if he was panicking.
"No! I did find information about one thing I just have no general proof of it to be exact."
"Oh?"
"From what I could gather from people it seems like the phoenix, Juniper, was taken under the wing of someone else. It is hard to believe considering that guy hates working with anyone, but that's what some of the word going around is saying."
Duan Cai thought over his words for a moment. Juniper was not the type of person who would serve just any man. The elders and patriarch above him in the Kaen sect even had to fight to keep him under their control. For someone to put the Kaen's Phoenix on their own leash would have to someone of high capability in cultivation. Someone at least at the patriarch's level or beyond it would have to be the man behind Juniper. When that thought came to mind Duan Cai instantly raised his own suspicion at the idea of it. There was one man who came to mind and that was the one person he was still trying to find since his fall to earth.
"It might not just be hearsay so keep your attention to the whispers involving that. I highly suggest taking caution and not pushing for information. If my guess is correct you're nowhere near prepared for taking on the man behind him."
Duan Cai was simply trying to avoid Lester doing anything stupid and antagonizing Saigai, but naturally Lester found joy in the fact that it sounded like Duan Cai would worry about him. Lester scratched the back of his head as he blushed like an idiot while smiling at Duan Cai. He could only sigh as his brow twitched slightly at the image of Lester standing there like that.
Are all mortals this stupid or is it my godly aura? Duan Cai thought to himself as he turned to walk away and find Leon with the captive. Lester was following quickly at his heels from behind. The two of them headed straight for the mansion while they could hear slight grunts of pain as Duan Cai used his aura to fling the mansion doors open to refrain from wasting his time by physically reaching out to open it. The task of physically opening the door felt like a waste of time at the moment for him. Watching the doors fling open with Duan Cai's golden light had left Lester speechless even though he had already seen it time and time again. Even among cultivators people who could use their aura to such an extent were like rare gems and hard to find; killing a person with an aura was simple, but using them for tasks like opening doors was something beyond simply ending someone's life.
