Chereads / The Immortal Duan Cai / Chapter 5 - Chapter 4

Chapter 5 - Chapter 4

"You sent her to look for HIM did you not?" A deep voice sounded in the air around Duan Cai. No one could be seen standing anywhere near Duan Cai, but the voice was deep and clear as though the person was speaking directly into his ear.

"So what if I had sent her to find that man?" He asked back to the voice.

Duan Cai was not unaware of who was speaking to him, in fact he knew the voice very well. It was someone who often followed him around and knew many secretes about himself. The voice was from a professional ninja that had been hired to kill Duan Cai a couple months ago. No matter how talented the ninja was the man had no success in his mission and just ended up on a continuous payment from his boss to follow Duan Cai around until he could find the opportunity to assassinate him.

"If I recall it's someone you said had crossed over from where ever it is you're from, right?" The voice asked him outright.

The man did not know exactly where it was Duan Cai was from, but he did have a vast idea that it was not somewhere simple. If Duan Cai had originated from somewhere where his level of power existed it only made him wonder what kind of person he could be searching for that was also from the same place. The idea made him wonder if it was a second power house.

Could there be another dragon level powerhouse hiding out there? He thought to himself.

"You curious, it has been two months of you following me awaiting a chance to kill me. If you give up your name I might tell you?" Duan Cai smiled.

"Hoh? Nice Try." The voice responded as a shadow quickly flashed across the ground.

Duan Cai could feel that the person had vanished after his question. He could understand why as his eyes glanced across towards the mansion gate and saw a car pulling in. As it came to a stop a man slowly climbed out of it and strode towards Duan Cai. A smile filled both of their faces as they glanced at each other. It was not as simple as it seemed, however because the smile on both side meant two completely different things. One was happy to see the other while Duan Cai was smiling simply for show to be polite towards the man that he wished at times that he had left in that alley because the attention could be overbearing at times.

"Lester! Good to see you." Duan Cai extended out his hand and Lester shook it excitedly while still smiling happily.

Lester's hair was blond with decent length to it that almost hung to his shoulders and his eyes were a blue that could make a person feel like he could gaze straight into the heart of their soul. He was wearing a white suit while his inner shirt was purple. While most men would go with a more natural color scheme Lester was not afraid to show off his more adventurous side in many ways down to the coloration of his style of clothes.

"It's been a while!" Lester laughed slightly as he took his hand back and placed it behind his head like he felt nervous. It made Duan Cai want to question the man's brain for a moment, but he tossed that aside.

"It's only been a few days since you last contacted me.. anyways, what matters did you need to discuss with me about?"

"Right! I'm not here to joke around with you. I have a serious matter to discuss. We should head inside for this though." Lester shook his head. The thought of talking outside was something he felt was too sensitive to what he wanted to tell Duan Cai about.

"It's that serious now is it? Nexus is pretty secure so you shouldn't worry about talking to me here, Lester." Duan Cai wanted to refute the idea of going indoors. He preferred the silence of the scenes of nature around him. He was not use to mortal living environments yet. The memories of the mortal boy he had taken over were combined with his own, but he still had over ten thousand years of memories living as a god without mortal binding him to such things. It made adapting to things a bit more complicated for him.

"I am serious, Duan Cai." Lester tried to refute the idea of staying outside to talk.

"Just spill it already, I do not have time to dawdle over you being childish and refusing to speak." Duan Cai sighed.

"Alright.. Alright.." Lester sighed and stared at Duan Cai for a moment as he tried to think of the words to say next carefully. "The Kaen Sect is trying to make a move against your Dragon Syndicate."

"What are you talking about?" Duan Cai glared at Lester as if to study whether or not he was sure about what he was saying.

"I'm serious! I heard some of the elders talking about it and they said that the Kaen Sect is paranoid about you and the power you hold so they have started doing underworld dealings with the Shadow Sect to find ways to act against you. If I were you I would be very careful how you move for a while."

"I'm not that worried a bout them, but I'll watch things carefully." Duan Cai gazed across the area as he tried to pin point where the ninja that follows him was hiding. He could feel the ninjas presence still in the area somewhere and knew they had to be aware of it as well since he was hired from Shadow Sect as well.

"If you need anything from us Yang Sect you know you can come to me any time in the future, brother Cai." Lester smiled after hearing Duan Cai would be careful.

"Yea, I know you're there for my Dragon Syndicate Sect, Lester. I do not need you reminding me."

"So cold!" Lester sighed making a face that almost looked like he was pretending to be heart broken at Duan Cai's words.

"La Mia Stella, go home!" Duan Cai placed his hand on Lester's shoulder as he spoke with a smile that looked both kind and yet cold at the same time.
