Chereads / REBORN: A STRIKER'S DREAM / Chapter 17 - Prologue

Chapter 17 - Prologue

In this second life which was familiar yet foreign to him, he lived.

What surprised Akin the most was how fast it seemed to be moving, unlike when he was young in his first life.

He felt that back then that he had all the time in the world; instead this time he found himself with a constant sense of urgency.

Having long realised that this new world was different from the one he originally came from.

Yet despite these differences both worlds shared similarities.

In 2003 a young genius named Christiano Ronaldo, an 18-years old football genius winger took over the number 7 of the red devils. Ronaldo now referred to as the Little Prince of Old Trafford came from Sporting CP.

Known for his dribbling skills and artistic flair, the genius winger can be said to be one of the up-and-coming giants in football, especially after helping Portugal get the runners-up in the 2004 EUROs.

Meanwhile, in the Spanish giants, FC Barcelona, a young prodigy arose from their youth academy in La Messia, Leonardo Messi, a diminutive Argentinian who was born and raised in the city of Rosario.

His family conditions were poor, but his talent showed early, so scouts from Barcelona approached his mother who had been working as a maid at that time.

He debuted in the Galacticos Barca in 2004 and showed his talent using his short stature.

He became famous for his ability to run with the ball and is often affectionately called the pride of Rosario by his countrymen.

Meanwhile, Akin himself has made a name for himself; he is now fifteen, about to turn sixteen, and his talent has long since shown through from his time in Hale's end.

He has grown up with plenty of exercises and a healthy diet which has benefited his growth; standing at 6ft, with a healthy athletic body, his warm mocha skin tone, which helped his eyes to stand out due to genetic mutation were hazel with flecks of green, his hair was cornrowed with a fade.

However, from Akin's point of view, this was never in question as his technical level has long since surpassed the level of youth academies, as has his strength.

He gained some honours after helping the England U-19 reach the finals of the 2005 UEFA European cup.

And is being reported to be considered for the 2006 world cup.

With the help of his agent, Jerome, he has even received attention from the British Media.

This helped increase his popularity as his aesthetics were able to net him a fair amount of female fans who had a casual interest in football.

He will also soon be eligible for his professional contract and play in the premier league.

So now the question that all his fans are all wondering is "what Arsenal will do next?"

The question is even being debated by football pundits because right now, Arsenal has proven to be a truly unbeatable team.

Led by iconic striker French striker Thierry Henry, there is still the german prince of football, Dennis Bergkamp, and the greatest striker in Nigeria's history Nwaku Kanu, with these three giants up front as well as the recent addition of the young genius from the Netherlands Robert Van Persie.

It was unsure with such a lineup how much playing time he could secure, this has them wondering if Akin will have a place on the team.

It is for this reason he was currently talking to his agent,

"Akin, I know how much you want to play for the main squad. However, it will not be in your best interest if you are stuck on the bench with minimal playing time."

Hearing this made him feel a bit unhappy in his heart as he stared down at the older man,

"Are you saying that you don't believe that I can earn the manager's trust to play on the big stage?"

Jerome noticed that he was annoyed but didn't panic and continued to speak his peace,

"That is not the problem, and you know it. I just think that to reach your full potential, you will need to take other things into consideration.

Right now, the team has a lot of great talent, and the chemistry is strong; entering the squad now will not guarantee you a strong position in the club, especially with the unbeaten season Arsenal has proven its strength.

Instead, take a year loan for the 05/06 season to hone your skill against older, stronger men in the lower leagues, then come back in the next season a more mature player who can contribute more and win the Old professor's trust."

However, Akin was not convinced and raised the question,

"Even if that is the case, it doesn't matter, I only care about one thing, and that is becoming the best player I can be. If I go to the lower league can I really gain anything? what I really need is pressure and staying in this team means competing with some of the top players in the world."

Akin was sure that this was the best decision for him, to grow up and show everyone, including himself, that he was ready to play in the big leagues.

…..Wait for me, Premier League. This time around, it will be impossible for you to forget me.
