.
Hye-jin was trying to stave off hunger with her little ice cream while quietly looking at the photos Mark had sent.
Jun-seo really looked like he cried at night.
"Weren't you dating, Mark?"
Hye-jin didn't know much about Mark's life, but small talk was not a sin.
She always found it amusing asking him these things; his reaction was always shy and awkward.
Well, if she wasn't a killer and he wasn't a hacker, maybe they would be good friends who would drink every weekend after work.
Mark, upon hearing the question, began to have a coughing fit; he had choked on the water he was drinking. It was really hilarious.
Hye-jin laughed uncontrollably; he really was cute.
"Me? Who said? I just splashed water all over my computer. Hye-jin, you owe me a new keyboard."
Young Jeon laughed compulsively. Of course, she wouldn't give him a new keyboard; let him clean up all the water he'd spilled.
"Of course not. Who told you to be so shy?!"
He had a sullen tone in his voice. "Is it my fault now?"
"Since you made me wear this hideous disguise... Yeah, it's all your fault."
Jeon didn't have a problem with disguises; she had a problem with horrible disguises! The wig she was wearing was most certainly an attack on fashion.
Mark coughed a few more times and spoke softly. "How does someone date while spying on other people's lives at night?"
Hye-jin shrugged.
She also didn't know how to make time for a relationship.
As she was talking to Mark, another child came towards her.
The little girl had thick glasses and her nose was red. Her swollen face betrayed that she had just been crying.
"I don't know, you get all sorts of things. I thought I'd get a boyfriend... Hi kid."
Jeon didn't like children, but she needed to smile and pretend that she sold them something. "Lady, I want a pineapple ice cream."
She glanced briefly at the menu, and there wasn't even that flavor available. "We don't have pineapple…"
"But I just want pineapple."
Hye-jin frowned. What was she supposed to do? "Well, we don't have…"
What happened next was a taste of hell. The child began to cry and scream hysterically.
Mark was chuckling frantically in her ear, and there was already a strange movement of the park rangers around the truck.
Hye-jin waved her arms in desperation; she had learned to kill, not change diapers. She rummaged through the freezer for something that vaguely resembled pineapple, and well, there was lemon.
It should do, right?
"How about some lemon ice cream?"
"Lemon?"
"Lemon!"
Hye-jin followed the child's growing excitement, and the two smiled at each other.
Lemon was also good.
The tear-filled face gave way to a smiling child eager for ice cream.
"I want it."
Hye-jin smiled, satisfied. She had tamed the beast. "Great, an extra scoop for being such a cute kid."
The child picked up her little ice cream pot and ate a big spoonful. Hye-jin smiled, satisfied. So sweet and tasty.
"Thanks, aunt."
The older woman watched the child walk away and breathed a sigh of relief.
Mark, who had followed everything that happened, smiled, satisfied. "You say you're not good with children, but in reality, you understand them very well."
She just ignored her friend's speech and finished eating her ice cream, which by that time had completely melted.
Mark wouldn't miss the joke; he knew the pompous wig was really hideous and the glasses frame could be even worse.
"Do you look old enough to be called an aunt?"
Hye-jin mentally thanked the killing gods for not having Mark in front of her at that moment. She would definitely kill him. "That hideous wig must make me 500 years old."
Mark laughed contemptuously. "They say that lesbian vampires are in."
Jeon laughed in agreement; women were always welcome.
Hye-jin never defined her sexuality; in fact, she never had time for it.
She started killing relatively young. Well, she was now 25 years old. It's not like she was really old. But since she was a teenager, she had some financial difficulties. They say we do everything to save the ones we love, right? She would kill for it.
When her mother found out that she was sick and urgently needed surgery, Hye-jin went to live with her aunt and uncle.
She was very well received and treated like a daughter, but her mother was there in that hospital with no sign that she would survive; she had to do something.
Because she always had a mature and older appearance, she managed to fool some people and even got a part-time job at a nightclub… Not that they cared much about whether she was of legal age or not.
Of course, she also did some petty shoplifting and sold some hallucinogens to some rich kids.
Until one day, someone asked if she would kill for money, and Hye-jin, without thinking much, accepted.
Of course, she regretted doing it, but it was a path of no return. After all, it wasn't like she could walk into the church and confess her sins, and then everything would be fine.
Someone had been killed by her.
After that, some customers came, and she started killing more people. It became routine.
It was nothing personal; she didn't even know much about her victims and she only understood enough to be able to kill without leaving a trace.
The story didn't end with her hoarding all the money for her mother's surgery and finally saving her. She died just before Hye-jin got the whole amount.
In the end, she just saved the money and started thinking about what she would do with her life. As a result, she continued killing and opened a few small businesses to launder the money she received for killings.
Entrepreneurship is important, right?
Well, Hye-jin has some businesses, money to live well, and despite not being able to help her mother, she helps her uncles, so it's okay.
She never really dealt with her personal affairs, and it always came down to luring the targets and executing them.
But women were beautiful and soft; why not like them? Hye-jin definitely liked them.
Hye-jin smiled at the thought of lesbian vampires; maybe she should bite some necks out there.
"Perhaps, is there anything sexier than a female neck?"
Mark gave a perverted laugh. "Do I really have to say it?"
