Benjamin walked out of the greenhouse and back into the classroom. He had ash in his hair and was trying to shake it out, with the help of Velena. Isaiah was between Evan and Corey, apologizing profusely.
Charles had saved some of the ash and used it to practice his skills, he made a dragon of ash. "Charles, what the heck are you doing?" Xavier asked, stopping at his desk. "I don't know, I'm bored," Charles replied, not looking up.
"Looks to me like your just making a mess," Lennox said from across the room. Charles looked at Lennox like he wanted to say something but then put his head back down. Isaiah finally escaped Corey and Evan, only to come face-to-face with Coach Haynes. "I'd appreciate it if you don't start any more fires in the greenhouse," he said sternly. "It was an accident, I swear," Isaiah said. Coach Haynes shook his head. "You're still going to install that sprinkler system right?" Coach Haynes asked. "You can count on it," Isaiah replied.
Benjamin watched all of this without really paying attention. He was too busy thinking about all of the internship opportunities he had been given. Benjamin pulled out the list and slid it over to Velena. "Which one of these do you think I should choose?" Benjamin asked. Velena slowly looked up and down the list. "I don't know what these companies do," he finally replied, "You'll have to research them on your own." Benjamin took the list back from him and put it into his backpack.
The bell rang and he got up to exit the classroom. "I asked Mr. Martin if we could use the second gym today rather than going to class," Isaiah said, putting his hand on his chest as if he were referring to himself, "He said yes." "Nice," Benjamin said, thrusting his fist into the air, "Who's going?" "It's only the people who are ahead on their work," Isaiah replied, "That's just our group, Ja'quan, and Ashley." "Miles should be there too, right?" Benjamin asked. "Yeah," Isaiah replied cheerfully, "I also have a new invention to show you."
Everyone groaned, Isaiah's inventions were straight-up deadly sometimes, even if they served their intended purpose.
Hopefully, this one goes better than the last one did, Benjamin thought. He led Velena and Jackie out, following Isaiah and Lennox who had walked out in front. They found Miles at the second gym entrance, waiting for them.
"What took you so long?" Miles asked when they reached him. "We were too busy talking," Benjamin replied. Jackie went off to change into her gym clothes, while everyone else headed to the boy's locker room. "Gym twice in one day," Isaiah said. "Yeah, I might have to take a shower tonight as well as in the morning tomorrow," Velena responded.
Benjamin closed his locker and grabbed broken war. "Try not to destroy the gym this time," Velena told Benjamin. "We'll see," he replied, smirking. Benjamin walked into the gym, with Velena by his side.
Jackie was standing on the side of the court, stretching. Isaiah, Lennox, Xavier, Corey, Evan, Miles, and Charles walked out of the locker room joking around. Benjamin, Jackie, and Velena turned to face them. "What do you say we do a team battle?" Benjamin asked.
"I'm in," Isaiah responded immediately. "Let's go," Corey said. "I'll join," Evan replied as well. The boys all responded yes to Benjamin's proposal, prompting him to pick team captains.
Evan and Lennox ended up as the captains. They looked up and down the line of people. "Rock, Paper, Scissors for the first pick," Evan said. Lennox turned to Evan and the two of them tapped their hands three times. On the fourth time, Lennox shot out a rock and Evan shot out scissors. "Nice," Lennox said, "I'll take Benjamin." "Of course, you would," said Evan, "I'll take Corey." "Velena," Lennox said. "Isaiah," Evan retorted.
This continued for some time until the teams were set. Lennox's team consisted of Benjamin, Velena, Jackie, and Miles. Evan's team consisted of Corey, Isaiah, Xavier, and Charles.
The two teams stood across from each other on opposite sides of the center court. "What was that invention you had?" Evan asked Isaiah, "You were hyping it up quite a bit." "I wasn't going to use it," Isaiah replied, "But since they have two boosters on their team, it's only fair that I can use this."
Isaiah pulled a device out of his bag. It was a black device with straps on it. He strapped it to his chest and it instantly glowed to life. Red energy snaked up through wires in the straps, running around his body until they reached the device in the middle. Several runic symbols appeared on the device before the front panel went black. "I call it my amplification matrix," Isaiah said proudly, "I'm sure you can guess what it does." Isaiah tapped the device and the runic symbol for speed appeared.
After a second the symbol disappeared and a stream of energy flowed around Isaiah. The stream spread to his other teammates bathing them in a red aura. Lennox smiled.
He snapped his fingers and a yellow aura appeared around his team. As the yellow aura appeared around Benjamin, he felt his power double. "Let's get started shall we," Lennox said. "After you," replied Evan.
