Chapter 19 - Chapter 19, Exodus

After securing Ammo and Food for Natalia and her people, Jan followed them back to their Camp.

The people were happy to have more food to eat and more means to protect themselves. Jan smiled to the people as they begin to celebrate.

Natalia put down a box which she stood on "Everyone listen up! today we celebrate as for tomorrow we begin our Exodus to find a home safe from the war free from the Bolsheviks! free from Anarchists! free from War! as long as we stay together we will survive!" Natalia said as the group cheered.

Delicious food was created and Jan ate some of it, it's been awhile since he had such a delicious meal ever since the war began.

Natalia sat next to him while he ate, "Again thank you for your help Comrade" "Of course it's the least I could do when you didn't try to kill me"

She felt embarrassed after that moment, "Sorry about that Comrade" "Just call me Jan" He smiles.

After the feast everyone went to sleep while a few Guards stay awake drinking coffee to watch out for wild animals or enemy attacks.

Jan lay down on a bed made of hay as he closed his eyes sleeping then he moved to his side to sleep more comfortable.

Before the sun even risen, Jan was awaken by someone moving him he looked up to see Natalia.

From Jan's view she's extremely beautiful like a Angel. "Come on Jan we need to get moving" She says as Jan got up and followed.

Civilians were put in the back of a wagon truck, Soldiers and other Armed Groups either joined into the stolen Bolshevik Tank or Armored Car.

Jan climbed onto his horse as they followed the group. The Heavy Tank lead the group with Armored Cars followed the sides with the other vehicles filled with the people followed behind.

Jan ate a biscuit and held a rifle looking around in case of any attack. Natalia was also on horseback riding next to Jan.

"Do you know were there's a safe place for them?" Jan asked, "Beyond the Red Line there's a Railroad Tunnel which leads to Finland, Finland was able to beat the Reds back and before the war declared Neutrality" She says.

The sound of Artillery being fired stopped the group, Jan went to see what it was while Natalia stayed with her people.

Jan climbed down from his horse and went on foot carefully holding his rifle. He walked into the trees and looked around for Soviet Patrols.

He came across a group of Soviets firing Artillery over the trees. There was at least thirty of them all armed.

One Soviet was a Heavy Trooper with a Lewis Gun, among them was a Officer ordering them to keep up the pressure so they can advance.

Jan knew he couldn't take them on so he needs to go back and tell Natalia and her group to avoid this area.

Jan went back quickly luckily the sound of Artillery being fired masked his boots hitting the ground. Once he got back he climb back onto his horse.

"Red Army Artillery group we should go around them" He says, Natalia nodded then marked it on her map.

They resume their movement as they went down an abandoned road. Natalia was making sure everyone was fine as they stopped to refuel their vehicles.

Jan brushed his horse's mane while the people ate and drink, some of the kids were playing while Soldiers guarded the area.

"Hey Mister" Jan turned to face some children, "Are you a soldier?" One of them asked.

"In a way you can call it that, I'm a Runner I deliver messages" He says smiling, "You must of seen battles!"

Jan smiled sadly as he nodded "I have..." "Was is scary?" He was asked.

"Actually it was, seeing Mechs marching with Tanks while Planes danced in the air it's very scary but I've seen bravery among Soldiers and Civilians regardless the side they came from" He says. "They can be waving the Imperial Eagle of Germany or the Red Flag of the Bolsheviks fighting for what they believe in" Jan finished then handed the Kids some chocolate.

Jan thought back then he was young when the Great War raged then he was brought into Service when the Civil War began. He was only in the Legion for two years now with The Soviets focusing on the Allies, he feels like a Soldier fighting without a cause or purpose.

One of the Soldiers in Natalia's group was scouting til they saw marching Soviet Iron Bears and plenty of Troops coming. They ran back to warn the group.

"Reds are coming! Reds are coming!" Everyone got back into the Vehicles. The Soldiers and Militia grabbed their guns and followed the ground.

Jan and Natalia spurred their horses galloping.

The Reds Iron Bears noticed their group and begin to purse them. Jan looked behind them to see the Iron Bears chasing them.

"Hovno! their gaining on us!" Jan said, one of the armored cars turned it's turret around and fired at Iron Bears causing them break off.

The chase continued as they had to cross a bridge but the Reds continue their chase. The Armored Cars stopped with the Tank blocking the Bridge while the trucks drove past.

Jan stepped from his horse and fired his rifle as the Reds arrived. Former Imperial Soldiers and Militia begin to battle the Red Army.

The Armored Cars fired their guns to keep the Reds from advancing any further while the Tank fired it's cannon sending a Iron Bear into the river below. Jan fired his rifle scoring a Headshot while Natalia was operating an SMG.

The group kept up their defence til the Trucks safely passed through the bridge. The Reds were more aggressive on their attack.

"We need to destroy the bridge!" Natalia said as she ordered some of her men to set explosives to the supports.

The Tank they were using became damaged that the crew had to leave it before it gotten anymore damaged.

Natalia patted Jan's back as he and Natalia jumped onto their horses and rode off the bridge. Once they cleared it the bridge was destroyed separating them from the Reds.

As they reached the Unground Railroad to Finland, Jan stopped his horse as they prepare to leave.

"Jan?" Natalia looked at him, He nodded and said "Goodbye Natalia" "Goodbye Jan" They saluted each other as Jan rode his horse away from the group as he still had a job to do.

Natalia watched him leave then she went back to leaving her people to Finland.
