I knew this question would come, but her determined look threw me off guard.
Annie looked like she had already decided, but her question stung. I asked her to leave everything she knew with barely a moment's notice.
"Yes," I said quietly, and Annie nodded to me.
"I understand what this means now. After talking to Elenna, I know that this is the only way that I am going to be able to reach my full potential. I don't know if I will be able to look them in the face after this is all done if what my reflection says is true," Annie explained, and I nodded in understanding.
Elenna must have told her that she was destined to specialize in taking people's lives. Her ability to calm her emotions so soundly with so little experience proved that something had changed in her.
The girl looking back at me was now different from the girl I had met a couple of days ago. Annie would become one of the most deadly shadows this world has ever seen.
