I woke up in the morning, said few words to the goddess and started preparing for the day.
I cleaned my equipment and sterilized them laying them neatly to be air dried. Of course after a long year of being a Physician I have learnt never to over look even the tiniest bit of dirt especially not on the surgical tools.
While doing that I remembered the good old days, when the facility was buzzing with happy patients, in the care of warm and caring doctors. Oh Jake! ,
Jake was one of the best physician we ever had. He was indeed good at his job, very jovial, open hearted and also a good listener.
His sense of humor cannot be compared to that of Chris rock, Jake sees to it that all the patients are happy until the tragedy struck and the hospital gradually became deserted except only I decided to stay back and watch over it. "One day, it shall rise back to glory" I always thought.
I went behind the glass door to unlock it and hang the "OPENED" sign, I then noticed from afar clusters of people in circle looking down on something as if they are worshiping and saying things I could not decipher.
What more could an old wolf do with his abilities. I opened the door and started approaching the cluster, soon I realized it was a young wolf on the floor and unconscious, I parted my way through the cluster until I got full access to her, it was a female young wolf, pale and lifeless.
I went down on my knees, called unto her YOUNG LADY! YOUNG LADY! Continuously, after that I placed the palm and heel of my hand in the center of her chest for compression.
I tried and continued trying while I called unto her, "she has to come back, she just has to come back" I kept repeating to myself. There was something overly familiar with her.
I needed to see her eyes to confirm.
The CPR was a success as she let out a deep sigh and opened her eyes, looking faintly at the crowd standing before her like she was scanning them one by one.
"HER EYES!" those pair of beautiful green eyes , "could she really be the then pup of Jake and Olivia?, I looked at her intently searching for answers, her long blonde hair, oval face ,Romanesque nose and heart shaped face were all Olivia"s.
She is a photo copy of her mother, the last time I saw her was a pup, now a full grown wolf? In order to quench my curiosity I waited till we were all alone, I prayed I was right, I have to be right. "Steph is that you?
The thousands of questions she rained on me gave me my answer. Oh thank goodness you are alive my dear.
*Stephanie*
I looked at the old man leaning in from of me, I had thousand questions I want to ask. Where are my? What day is it? Who are you? Can I get some food? He stood up and offered me a hand, I stood up and he dragged my bag along as he guided me to his home.
It was more of a workplace a moderate size hospital with zero patient and zero doctor, surprisingly the hospital was well kept tidied and also well arranged, the sparkles for the equipment was enough shut down the retina.
Unable to hold in my curiosity I spilled out the question. Do you live here or work here? .he came closer to me, sat me down and started his diagnosis.
He checked my heart beat, pulse and every other thing he needed to check. I was sure he heard my question but ignored it anyway.
He left me and went out through an opposite door and came back few minutes later with a tray of food and a glass of water, the worms in belly screamed for joy, food at last.
He placed the tray before me and sat beside me. "You are really weak and dehydrated, your pulse is slow as well. I know you have loads of questions to ask, eat up and rest and when you are back again I shall tell you all I know" he said and left.
I devoured the grilled chicken angrily, breaking the bones and sucking the juice, I ate that I almost choked and I ended it with a chilled glass of water, I let out a huge burp and leaned on the wall.
I noticed a blurry picture handing on the wall. Could not see the face but for some reason it was fascinating, the more I looked at it the more fascinating it becomes.
I stared at till if felt as if it was saying "steph relax" of course I should, but I couldn't, I let myself up and looked around, i looked through the several pictures hung on the wall, without being told , I fathomed how filled and happy the hospital used to be.
What could have happened in here? Was it war?, We're they banished? I wondered and continued walking. I got to a shelf , opened it and found a very catchy pearl pendant, i took it, observed it for while and came to a conclusion that I must have seen it before. "Why does this look very familiar.
I joggled my memories but couldn't find any connection. Derick's voice called me back. "Steph are you asleep?" I quickly returned the pendant inside the shelf and continued my exploration until I found a body suiting couch.
I let my body sink into it, I stretched my right leg on the couch and the other on the stool.
I raised both my hands above head staring at the roof. Who could this old man be? When I asked him earlier he had only said I'm Derick, how much does he know about me? I can't wait to know.
Gradually, I drifted and slept off.
