"Mom!" Hope came running inside. "Mom! Mom! Mom!"
She was shouting.
"Yes..sweetie!" Hayley asked her, "What happened?"
"Uncle Elijah says Zach is going to live with us!" She jumped up. "Isn't this amazing!"
Hayley tucked her hair behind her ear.
"He sure is!"
"Isn't this great?" She asked again.
"If you say." Hayley whispered.
"It is!" Hope jumped up softly, and clapped her hands together. "Can I get breakfast?"
She asked.
"Of course," Hayley told her. "Now, why do you wait here for Zach, and bring him down when he comes out?"
"Okay!" Hope Mikaelson sat down on the bed.
"And when will dad come home?"
She asked.
"Soon." Hayley told her. "Why?" She asked.
"It's Candy day of the week!" Hope smiled.
"Of course, it is!" Hayley told her.
Caroline Forbes was standing at Stefan Salvatore's house, it was all packed. She shook her head softly, tears dropped from her eyes.
"I can't believe he is dead." Caroline told Klaus, who was standing behind her. "You know...I feel as if he is alive…"
She opened a box that said,
"Official Documents." Caroline opened it up.
She looked inside.
"Look.." Klaus showed her an envelope. "Isn't this a will?"
Caroline took it out quickly, and ripped it out. It was just some scribbled down lines.
"In case anything happens to me and Katherine,
The house in the country should be given to my brother, Damon Salvatore.
All my belongings are to be returned to my brother.
Only my daylight ring should be given to my son, Zach Lorenzo Salvatore.
In case, something was to happen to me and Katherine. My son, Zachary Lorenzo Salvatore is to be given in the custody of Caroline Forbes-Mikaelson.
No matter what the circumstances may be, my son must be given in the custody of Ms. Forbes, who currently resides at the Mikaelson House, and is about to be married to Klaus Mikaelson in New Orleans."
Caroline smiled.
"Zach Salvatore…." She looked at Klaus. "Stefan trusted me with him."
"Caroline…" Klaus took her hands, "He has to stay Zach Mikaelson…."
"I can't do that, Klaus."
"You have to, Caroline." His eyes pierced into hers, "You have done it before, you have to do it again. For Zach."
"I can't steal his identity...Klaus!" She trembled, "He is a Salvatore, the last of the Salvatores."
"You are not stealing it, Caroline." he told her, "They know, the witches know…Change his name, protect him as long as possible."
"I hate it."
"I know, love." Klaus held her waist.
He kissed her forehead.
"Soon, everything will be okay."
"I don't know." Caroline looked at him. "Life without Stefan will be….."
She had no words, tears fell on his collar.
"When will I see mom and dad again??" Zach held Caroline's hand,
She was trying her best to keep herself normal for Stefan Salvatore's son.
"Soon, sweetie." She smiled.
"What is candy day of the week, Aunt Caroline?" He asked.
Caroline laughed softly.
"We are going there!" Caroline told him. "Then, you can see for yourself!"
Hope Mikaelson and Klaus Mikaelson were walking beside them.
"It's candy time!" Klaus picked him up from behind and threw him in the air.
Caroline laughed.
Klaus Mikaelson took the kids inside the sweet shop.
Caroline took out her phone,
"Hello, Elena." Caroline called Elena Gilbert.
"Hi, Caroline….!" She replied, "How are you?"
"Elena, I need a favor." Caroline bit her lip, she didn't know if she was doing the right thing. "Just….."
"Come on, Caroline!" Elena said, "Say something,"
"Come to New Orleans!" Caroline told Elena, "Pretend to be Katherine. And give Zach a proper goodbye."
She told her.
"Please…, Elena." Caroline whispered, "He has been talking about his parents since he came!"
She told Elena.
"What can I do?" Elena asked, she was a little confused, a little worried.
"Just give him a little closure." Caroline sat down on the bench outside, "Tell him you have to go somewhere...Tell him that he is a Mikaelson now."
She told Elena.
"Please…..I am...am," Caroline stuttered, "I am dying over here, Elena."
"We'll come." Damon Salvatore took the phone from Elena, "Tomorrow,"
"Thank you, Damon!" Caroline told him. "I love you guys!"
"I know, Blondie!" Damon smirked.
"See you tomorrow!"
Caroline looked at Klaus coming out of the shop with Hope and Zach.
"Would you like to be included in the candy time of the week, love?" He offered her the paperbag he was holding.
"Well, I am the one who made it up…" She took the pack from his hands.
She laughed, and she unwrapped it, and watched Hope telling Zach all the things she loved about the city. She was chirpy and cheery. Exactly what Zach needed right now.
"She is amazing!" Caroline told Klaus, "Amazing!"
Klaus smiled,
"Well, she is my daughter."
"Oh, really?" Caroline laughed, "I really don't know….Klaus."
He laughed. He broke a piece of the candy bar Caroline was holding.
"Stay close, princess!" Klaus told Hope, who was getting carried away with the presence of a same aged person.
She took a few steps back.
"I called Elena," Caroline told him, "She's coming here tomorrow!"
"Why?" He made a weird face.
"Zach has been asking questions about them." She told Klaus, "She can make him understand that he has to stay here now."
Klaus nodded,
"You have a heart of gold, love." Klaus told her. "You know that, don't you?"
"I don't, I still have my urges." Caroline accepted, "You know I want to eat her…."
She pointed to a couple walking by. Klaus laughed.
"Then do it."
"No…" Caroline replied. "I can't."
They were walking ahead, Klaus took her hand,
"Let's get them home, shall we?" Klaus smiled. "It's 9:02, Caroline...What happened to you? Where is the military schedule, love?"
He shook her,
"You are getting weak!"
She laughed,
"I can't have a military schedule for Hope." She told him, "That's not my place to take."
"You can, Caroline." Klaus stopped her, he looked at her straight, "From me, if not from Hayley….I don't think she'll object."
She smiled.
"Hope adores you, and I can't see why anyone won't." He took her hands, "We became a family, Caroline."
"Aunt Caroline?" Zach Salvatore came towards her, "Can I see my dad now?"
He asked.
"Sweetie, I promise, your mom will come to see tomorrow." Caroline sat down to level with him. "Till then, we can get home and get comfy in Hope's spare bed, can't we?"
Zach nodded,
"That's like my sweet nephew." She smiled. "Now, let's get you both home, and into bed. It's 9:14 already!"
Klaus smiled, as Caroline advanced towards Hope. Caroline had returned to her regular self. No matter how annoying it could get, this was Klaus's favorite part.
