The heroes were preparing to leave earth, per Kane's recommendation. They packed all their things and valuables. Kane felt excited and nostalgic since he hasn't been in the colony for a while, but the others were scared and worried that this might be their last journey.
"When will they arrive?" Leila asked.
"They'll be here soon. Just be patient." Kane said.
"So, I guess this is it...our last day on earth..."
"Oh, don't feel so sad. When things calm down we'll come right back here. I promise. Besides, our leader is very nice, and the colony is just as good as your homes, maybe even better."
"I can't believe I'm really doing this."
"Everyone, just relax. We are going to be perfectly safe once we get to the Mascus Colony. The leader, Jerrell, and I are good friends. He will take care of you. You will be living comfortably."
Piper: "That's not the main issue. We've never left the country, let alone our planet."
"There's a first time for everything." Kane replied.
Finally, the spaceship from the colony arrived. The ship stabilized, and the door opened. Margarita and Kyle walked out.
"Kane!" she yelled.
"Margarita? It's you! I didn't expect you to come all the way here to pick us up!"
"Well, I couldn't wait to see you and meet your friends."
"Hey Kyle, you're here too!"
"I'm just helping out."
Kane: "Oh yeah, these are my friends...this is Piper...Zelfire…Leila…"
Margarita shook their hands as Kane introduced them.
"And this is Zorton..."
She shook his hand. "Pleased to meet you. What's with the mask? Are you people shy or something?"
"Umm..."
"Okay, I won't force you. If you want to hide yourself, that's none of my business."
Then she looked at Mason. "Let me guess, this is the great Mason that you've been talking about."
"Yeah, that's me."
"It's an honor to meet you." She offered her hand, and he shook it with his good hand. Then she squeezed it really tight, and Mason not knowing why she was doing this, struggled to get free. She finally let go. "C'mon, we have no time to waste. Let's go."
When nobody was looking, Mason looked at his crushed hand and shrieked. "Youch that hurts!" Damn, he thought, is every girl from that colony so aggressive?
Without wasting time, everyone got into the ship. Margarita and Kyle went to the pilot's cockpit, and the rest went into the passenger room. The inside was much like an airplane, only more compact.
Starburst was still in his healing chamber, and his ship, the Battalion, detected Margarita's ship leaving the earth.
"What, they're escaping?! They won't get away that easily. Computer, go after them and destroy them!"
"Affirmative sir! ... Changing into attack mode...ready..." the computer voice announced.
As Margarita's ship left the atmosphere, the Battalion fired.
Luckily for them, Margarita was not only a fighter, but a skilled pilot as well. She managed to avoid all the missiles, but Starburst won't give up that easily. The Battalion chased after them, but it ran out of fuel.
"Blast it! You got away this time, but its not over yet Mason! We will meet again..."
"Phew, that a close one." Leila said.
"Yeah, I thought we were goners!" Zelfire said.
Kane: "Dont sweat it, everybody. Margrit and Kyle are the best pilots we have.
We'll be ok. Just relax."
They might have escaped the Battalion, but luck won't help them this time.
Margarita checked the scanner. "Oh no! More fighter ships straight ahead!"
"What's the matter, are you scared?" Kyle asked.
"Scared? Of who? Lets blow them up!"
"That's the spirit."
Flying in their direction were three Star Fighters, one of the deadliest of all war ships.
Leila looked out the window and spotted the attackers. "Look guys, there!"
"We're under attack!"
"They're heading straight for us!" Terry yelled.
"We're doomed." Zell said.
Margarita's voice rang in from the speaker. "Hang on everybody, this is going to be one bumpy ride, so put on your seatbelts!"
"I hope they're as good as you say they are, Kane." Piper said.
"I know they're the best we've got."
It was an explosive battle in space. The attackers were chasing right after them and shooting them. Their ship was hit a few times but not seriously damaged.
Pilot#1: "We've damaged their lasers, they can't attack us!"
Commander: "Good. Destroy them at all costs!"
Pilot#2: "Yes sir!"
Pilot#1: "Yes sir!"
The chase continued, until they entered an asteroid field.
"There's an asteroid field ahead!" Kyle exclaimed.
"I know." Margarita said.
"You're not...you're not gonna..."
"This is the only way we can lose them."
"Are you completely out of your mind?! We'll crash! It's dangerous!"
"Hey, it's not impossible to go through that alive, right?"
"Yeah, but..." Kyle said.
"I know our chances are low, but it's either that or they blow us up to pieces! Let's go for it."
"God help me!"
Pilot#1: "Those fools! They're heading into the field!"
Commander: "Go after them! Don't stop!"
Pilot#1: "But..."
Commander: "This is an order! We'll make sure they don't survive, even if we have to die too!"
So the four ships entered the asteroid field. There's a rock in the way on every turn. If they make one wrong move, it could be their last. Mason and the others prayed that they come out of there in one piece. Luckily for them, Margarita was able to fly out of there without a scratch, but for the enemy, they weren't so lucky. All of them crashed into a rock and died.
Hours later, everybody was asleep, except for Mason and Margarita. They were in the conference room, sitting across each other from a round table. Mason told his heroic stories of how he beat his enemies, especially the one involving Starburst. Margarita was all ears. She listened to his story with great interest and admiration.
Mason finished his story, "...And then I got really angry, I just couldn't take it anymore! I made one final move and bam! It hit him right in the guts, and that's when I knew I had won."
Margarita: "Wow, that was the most exciting story I've ever heard."
"Oh, well, gee, thanks."
"So, your injuries..."
"This? They're the result of the fight with Starburst.
"It must be a bummer for you, huh?"
"Yeah, I can't do anything anymore."
"Well, don't sweat it. You'll be healed faster than you think, as all sayans do."
"I know. Zorton told me."
Margarita: "Speaking of which, I've been wondering about Zorton. Why does he hide his face all the time?"
Mason: "I don't know...I've never seen his face before. None of us has, but I think he has his reasons to hide his face. Ummm, about today, earlier...you..."
Margarita: "What?"
"Never mind." He really wanted to ask her about the devastating hand shake, but he backed out.
That turned out to be a useful conversation. These two sayans found out much about each other after talking only for a few hours.
Two weeks later, at a certain time, everybody was in bed except for the pilot.Mason was mostly healed and ready for action. Zelfire tossed and turned in bed, not able to sleep. He had too much worry in his mind. What is going to happen to them? What kind of people are they going to meet? One thing is for sure…this is going to be the journey of a life time.
A large reddish-green planet appeared in the view.
Margarita: "Look, we're here!"
Kyle: "Finally. I was getting tired of sleeping on this ship."
Margarita announced the good news to them. They were woken up by her voice. "Hey rise and shine everybody! We are now at the Mascus Colony."
Mason (yawning): "We made it!"
Leila: "We're finally here!"
Kane: "Yes, I'm back home!"
The ship landed right in front of the colony buildings. When they got out of the ship, they were mesmerized by it. The colony was huge, and all the buildings were connected to another by a bridge. They saw it as Kane's home, as well as Margarita's and Kyle's. But what they didn't see is that this colony is the last hope for the rebels. It's the only thing standing between the Empire and total domination of the universe.
