Chapter 2 - 02: Secret of the Sayans. Terry's Past.

As Spade, Zelfire, and Piper were walking down the street, they were thinking about what happened the other day in the lab. It was so shocking that they get the jitters just thinking about it. They've fought people before, but not aliens. They couldn't help feeling scared.

As they walked into an alley, Kane dropped from the sky, landing in front of them. They stared at each other for a moment.

"You're the bald guy from the lab!" Piper exclaimed.

"Yes, I am. I think you three deserve an explanation about everything that happened."

"We're listening" Spade said, crossing his arms.

Kane began to explain as clearly as he could. "You see, the person who owns the space pod…his name is Renegade. He is a Sayan from the planet Arlia. Sayans are a warrior race, built for war, and they live for war. They are cold-blooded, blood-thirsty animals who fight to live and live to fight. Some say they are the master race of the universe. Sayans are born naturally strong, and not only that, but they grow stronger exponentially!"

Spade: "Sayans, huh? This guy Renegade, he just wants his ship back, right?"

Kane: "Yes. But the reason that he came to earth is…well, firstly, what is their purpose? Sayans want to conquer other planets to expand their power. Many races have already fallen victim to them. They're already expanding their military power throughout the galaxy. And they've set their sights on this planet, earth. Sayans are not to be underestimated. A handful of them can conquer a planet."

They all listened, in disbelief and yet amazement.

"And who are you?" asked Piper.

"I apologize. I didn't even introduce myself. My name is Kane, of planet Mascus."

"Are you a sayan?" Zelfire asked with scrutiny.

"Yes, I am. Most sayans dress alike. We all wear our soldier uniform."

"You said sayans are evil! Are you one of those cruel monsters who destroy planets?"

"No, I'm nothing like them. You see, not all sayans are bad. Decades ago, some of us questioned whether killing is right or wrong. We didn't want to kill just for power. We thought that power wasn't everything. They saw us as traitors, and labeled us rebels. So a colony was created for those dedicated to stop the tyranny and evil of sayans! And thus, we have entered the Great War." Then Kane continued. "I am determined to stop those sayans from causing any more harm. I have fought Renegade before, and this time I will stop him. But, he's not alone. There are four others like him that are on this planet."

"Why are you telling this to us?" Zell asked, still untrusting.

"Because I need your help. I can't fight all of them by myself. Their leader, Destructo, is very powerful, even though he's not a sayan."

"We want to help, but what can we do? We're not strong enough to fight them!" Piper said.

"No, but Spade is. He is very skilled." Kane said.

"I am?" Terry sounded surprised.

"Yes, let me see." Kane pressed a button on his eye device, and some words in an alien language came out. "Yes, I was right."

"What is that thing on your eye?" asked Spade.

"This 'thing' is called a scouter, and it's very useful. It tells me where sources of energy are, and can determine a person's fighting abilities. And this thing can do much more...and it tells me that you have the fighting power of a sayan. Which means…you are a sayan."

"Say what?" Terry Spade asked.

"Hmmm, I knew it from the first time I saw you. You are a sayan!"

"What?!" screamed Zelfire and Piper.

"No way! That can't be!....You're lying! " Spade shouted, who is perfectly, positively, absolutely sure that he's a 100% human being.

"I know it's hard to swallow, but it is true. Sayans can tell one if another is a sayan. I am sure you are."

"Stop this non-sense." Terry said, getting a little irritated. "I don't know what you're babbling about."

Zelfire and Piper just listened like they had no idea what's happening.

Kane: "You are a sayan, there's no doubt about it. There have been rumors about a sayan from Arlia being sent here as a child…"

Suddenly, Terry thought about something Master Lang told him. Something about his origins. "I've been on earth my whole life! I'm not an alien, or a sayan! I'm not one of them! One of you!!!" Spade ran away, in disbelief, and fear that he is was a sayan.

"Wait!" shouted Piper. "Where are you going?"

Meanwhile, Ren planned to killed Kane and get his ship back. As he was doing so, Lance, Goldark, and Aria reported to Destructo. They kneeled down before him, as a person kneeled to a king. He had the height of an average human, except that he was not human. His skin was wrinkled and purple all over his body, and his limbs and face was covered by machinery, and like the others, he had a scouter on his eye, which fit his skin color perfectly.

"So, Renegade has lost the Cyber Suits? That imbecile. Why did I trust him with something so important?"

Lance said: "Sire, Ren is of no use to us! He is an embarrassment! He has been defeated by an earthling and Kane. He is too weak to be part of us!"

"I'll give him one more chance. He won't dare fail me, no one does! ... And the same goes for the three of you! If you ever fail me, I shall have your head!"

"Yes, we understand sire." said the three of them in unison. Then they exited out the room.

"Damn it! Kane is once again on my trail. And that means all the rebels knows about my plans! Even if he is killed, I'll have my hands full with the rebels! I can't underestimate them...Once I get the Cyber Suits, all earthlings will die! Heheheheheh!" He entertained himself with thoughts of victory.

Kane searched for Terry, and it wasn't a problem, with his amazing scouter. He found Terry meditating by the waterfall. Terry had his back facing him.

"I believe you." Terry said, sensing Kane's appearance. "All my life, I have noticed that some thing was different about me. Something that separated me from other people. Even though Zelfire, Piper and I were trained under the same master, my master says that my potential is far greater than theirs. But I never suspected that…that I'd be one of those sayans that you mentioned."

"I know you're not evil, Spade. I need your help. I can train you, and you will become stronger than ever, may be even strong enough to beat Destructo!"

Spade sighed. "I can't believe this is really happening, all this time I thought I was a normal person, and then suddenly one day I find out I'm not so normal."

"I know it's a big burden for you...but..." Kane couldn't find the right words to say.

"Alright, I'll do anything to stop those tyrants from destroying all of mankind." Zelfire and Piper overheard Terry's line and joined in. Kane was surprised that he didn't detect them.

"We want to train under you, too, Kane."

"Are you sure about this, guys?" asked Spade.

"Yeah, we can't let you fight them alone! We live on this planet, too!"

"Very well, then. We will start tomorrow." Kane said gratefully.

The next day, early in the morning, the group began their training. They trained from dawn till dusk each day for the next week, fighting each other and nothing else. On the way, they learned some new techniques which Kane thought would be very useful. Spade was doing very well and he proved to be a true sayan, as Kane had said. Leila visited them three times a day, providing their meals and cheering them on.

During lunch break, Terry went to meditate by himself, sitting under the waterfall, and letting the cold water run through his hair and his back.

Zelfire jumped over to the place and joined him. "What's the matter, Terry? Why you meditating by yourself? It's no fun unless you've got company." Zell said in a cheery mood.

Terry opened his eyes and didn't say anything.

Zell grew concerned. "Look, I mean…you don't have to let what Kane said affect you. Whatever you may be. Whether you're human or sayan, it doesn't really change anything. That's how I feel. No matter what, you're still good ol' Terry Spade."

Terry knew he meant well. "Thank you, Zelfire. I think I've been in denial this whole time. I mean, I've never heard of anything like this in my life."

"I know what you mean."

"Master Lang told me something before…a long, long time ago. About how he found me."

"Uhhh…"

"And I thought he was playing one of his stupid mind tricks or something. But after what Kane said, I started to think about things. Whenever we train, and I get hurt, I'd go see a doctor. And they'd say I'm not normal, even though I am. They just couldn't figure out what's wrong with me."

"All answers will come in time. That's what Master Lang says."

"Yeah. I should just relax, right?"

But relaxing was the last thing Terry could do. Kane's training program was pretty intense and rough, plus he had a limited time to teach them what they needed. But it's good that they already had the fundamentals hands-down. These humans (and sayan) were pretty cooperative, in Kane's opinion, considering they just met.

Neither Kane nor Terry mentioned anything about Terry's origin during their training, although they think about it a lot. Whenever those two fight each other, they could almost hear each other's thoughts. They can tell by the look in their eyes. Terry would start accepting the truth. Kane would think that Terry's improving, and he knows that Terry knows. And whenever those two walk by each other, not saying a word, a lot was going on in their mind.

As the heroes continued training, Destructo went on a rampage on Network City. He flew around the air, and shot energy balls at vehicles, monuments, and people. The police force was powerless against him. The citizens ran like hell as they never faced some thing like this before. By the time he left, a third of Network City was demolished.

Aria, Lance, and Goldark floated in the air and watched him go on a rampage.

"With a force like that, Kane is no match for us." Aria said as he watched Destructo leave the wreckage.
