Synopsis

A Note From the Author

I originally had the idea for this story about 17 years ago while at varsity. It was called "Tales of Tiobor" then. Before I had built the Sawgiw language. Naturally the story has changed dramatically, but many of the core ideas are still around. The world developed in my head before the stories started emerging. This is just one story of many that span the world of Cyla across its ages. One of these stories and possibly the most important is the story of Saiyi which emerged as the lore expanded to the age this book covers. There are some characters that survived from the original idea. One is Troketh, though his name has changed as the language evolved. The first character to ever emerge from the lore and the first person to be imbued with power was and will remain Kez Visat. His name has remained the same also. Wep also deserves special mention as he developed fairly early on.

The story written here uncovers itself largely as I write. As they say the story writes itself. Though I do have a broad plan of events that I drew out from the lore. As I write the story evolves and changes with characters like Kit (the newest character) emerging. Some of the twists and events are as much as a surprise to me as they are to anyone reading. The idea behind the story is to include lore as the people of the world understand it also for context when they discover the truths and deeper hidden parts of their world. Most notably this can be seen in the journey of Saiyi. Which is why Cyla – Myths and Legends centers largely on this young woman flung into a world beyond the scope she could have ever imagined.

I hope everyone reading enjoys the book as much as I enjoy writing it. It's about time I put it on paper. I would also like to thank my friends and family for building me up and supporting me in my endeavor.
