"Where are you heading to now? I usually don't trust you alone." Ivan commented lightly as they strolled away from the class they just finished now. They've been given an assignment which he's already begging her to do for him not because he isn't smart, just to keep her occupied.
"I'm going to the library obviously for our assignment." She rolled her eyes, hit on a pebble in front of her out of habit. She finds it irresistible whenever she sees it lonely sitting on the curb.
Ivan narrowed his eyes before letting them go when he realized that they really are going to the library and nowhere else. "Well, that place isn't for me so I'm gonna just hang around."
Jennifer shook her head because she's tired of scolding him, he doesn't like studying but he is intelligent nonetheless. "Well, that place is for me so I'm gonna go hang around there till I'm bored to bones. See ya around." She made a left turn while he stood there to watch her go first.
Jennifer isn't stupid to not notice that Ivan has this little crush on her or maybe just some stupid infatuation but there is something there in his eyes whenever he looks at her. She knew that with time things are going to dissipate and he won't feel her anymore in his mind. She smiled to herself, he is the only guy that showed interest in her but that never faltered her self confidence.
For what reason? She is doing just fine without going on countless dates with men and wasting her time. She's had an amazing time with her friends during their high school days too and wasn't a saint either. Her father was the one who's forced her to go out there and enjoy her time with her friends, it wasn't hard because she's wanted to do it. There is always something wild within her that she's never let out after leaving high school.
There is just no one out there for her to bring out the wild side of her anymore after she's left her two friends in high school —Anna and Jake. They were really amazing. Anna was this wild fellow she's started talking to the last year of their high school and then Jake is her gay friend. He's always loved Jenny with his whole heart but just not romantically, a great guy he was. Like the big brother she's never had.
She walked into the library and removed all her books, placed them in front of her on the table. She went to the far back end of the library to not attract attention from anyone for she cannot afford it. People tend to distract her with just one glance at them. Sometimes their outfits or maybe just something about them related to their facials or legs or hands. She hates how she makes fun of people in her head or just start picturing things in her head.
Starting to read slowly, trying to keep things with her assignment, she got tired after a little bit of reading and lie down on the hard wood desk. She thought she was dozing off but that wasn't what she was doing in the least. She is just thinking about her life again just like the other times she is not occupied. Ivan is right, she should be kept occupied to avoid things like that.
It was too late when she realized that her eyes are leaking with unending tears rolling down the sides of her face. She tried to muffle the sobs but she wasn't too quiet because the girls close to her threw her a dirty glance before standing up. Some people are just not sympathetic. They should at least try to ask her what is wrong with her but they just left like no one is crying behind a desk.
She could be thinking about committing suicide or something and they can say something that will change her mind. She chuckled at her thought inwardly because no one will change her heart whenever she wants to do something. If she wants to commit suicide, she'd do that no matter what.
Deep into her sorrow, she felt someone coming to sit close to her and wrapping their arms around her. Confused and not comfortable by the unfamiliar cologne, she leisurely sat up to clean her tears albeit embarrassed. She yawed to her left to see a girl around her age staring at her with huge doe eyes filled with compassion and sympathy that shouldn't be there for a stranger. She is definitely a soft person from the looks of it.
With her dyed bleach blonde hair, forest green eyes that stare right back at her while illuminating even in the dark place. She is a cute little thing and a ball of sunshine too it seems.
"Hello, my name's Amelia but you can call me Ami. Why are you crying if you don't mind me asking?" The girl tilted her head, her expression written all over that she does not expect the real truth from the story.
Jennifer stared at her for a few more minutes before completely clearing her eyes and stuck her right hand out for a handshake. "And my name is Jennifer."
"You can't tell me about your problems huh? I totally understand because we are strangers." Amelia who could apparently be called Ami suggested with a hesitant smile etched across her lips.
"I'll tell you everything because I want to hear a stranger's opinion on it." Amelia looks surprised at how quickly she is ready to spill out her personal business to someone she's never seen before. She could go out and tell everyone out there, you don't know who to trust now.
But Jennifer told the girl her problem nonetheless, not leaving any detail away from her problems from the time the tragedy struck her when she lost her father, how broke she was then, her own uncle wanting to use her, her job at the restaurant, offer from her friends to pay her rent and lastly how Ivan agreed to help with the project.
After wasting a few minutes thinking and mulling over the story, Amelia brightened with a smile that could outshine the sun.
"I've got a perfect person to help you with this!"
