Chapter 4 - Class

The boy who saw this said, "Do you need help?"

Zhang Tianshen immediately nodded. However when he did he felt like he had messed up. The boy's increasingly wide grin made him realize this, but it is already too late. When words are spoken they can't be taken back. Zhang Tianshen braced himself for what was to come, at least he tried to, but his reaction was too late. All he heard before feeling the pain of one's eyes being gouged out was the boy's voice as he said in the same immature voice, "Never agree when a ghost, a stranger or someone who is both agrees to help you for free?"

Following this was the boy's laughter sounding as innocent as ever, yet it felt like it was mocking Zhang Tianshen for his ignorance. Zhang Tianshen could barely hear the boy as he fought the fear that was welling in him. The fear of the unknown. Without light, he felt horrors. In life people had always asked him about the worst way to die. It was only now that it dawned to him what the worst way to die is. It is to die in total darkness, not knowing what killed you or how you died. To bleed out without even seeing your own blood, that is pure despair. Although to Zhang Tianshen this felt like a whole day, in reality only a few seconds passed. The boy smoothly inserted the pair of eyes into Zhang Tianshen's eye socket. Although Zhang Tianshen could not see. He could sense everything around him in absolute detail. It was truly a novel experience for him. Zhang Tianshen closed his eyes as he let the eyes integrate with his body. His fear long forgotten by now. He sensed the screen change again, this time shoes appeared. Looking or sensing this huge variety of shoes left Zhang Tianshen overwhelmed. He went through them using his instinct as usual and this time only one pair of shoes attracted him. He felt a special link to it, the type one has with a phone that has accompanied you for a long time. Zhang Tianshen did not understand this link nor did he see the shadow behind him look at this pair of shoes with interest. This particular pair of shoes had a Nike sign on it and strangely resembled the self-tightening or tying shoes that came out some years ago. He directly chose them. Zhang Tianshen felt exhausted, doing all this has left him drained and yet there is still one more section left. Although he did not face any challenges in the second one, for some reason his intuition was warning him about the third one. And as if to validate his concern, he noticed the boy's smile get wider. If before one could call the boy's smile cute, now one would call it creepy, the likes of which Zhang Tianshen has only seen in Solo Leveling. Either way Zhang Tianshen has been through a lot so he managed to keep his calm. The boy seeing this just smiled even more before saying in that same voice, "The next reward is slightly special as it will determine what type of cultivation you will partake in. you will not be able to choose, the heavens will choose for you."

For the first time in a long time, Zhang Tianshen was mad. 'To think that I would do all this, kill so many people just for some simp called heaven to decide what I get. No it is okay, I will just surpass heaven even if it gives me the trashiest class and then have it call me daddy.' Zhang Tianshen thought all this while on the outside he said, "Oh."

The boy naturally did not care and simply let the screen do its job while he waited. Soon the screen appeared again but this time it brought with it an ancient timeless aura. Zhang Tianshen was slightly stunned by the vibes that the screen was radiating, but that did not stop him from looking at the screen or to be more precise the word written on it in giant letters, the word SURVIVOR. The color the word was written in shocked Zhang Tianshen. He did not understand. The boy at the side who had been smiling since the beginning stopped smiling as he explained, "In the universe there are a great variety of classes, and for example my class is guide. I guide people into the world of cultivation. No matter who it is, I guide them. But that is not the only thing, each class has a weakness and mine is blindness, you can only guide impartially when you cannot see what you are guiding. Those are the words I was told when I got my class. However there are exceptions to this rule and your class is one. Yet each exception is full of danger, with your class being the most dangerous and strongest. You can cultivate everything, you do not need to cultivate, only survive the tasks giving by heaven. You are practically heaven's stress ball. I am sorry I did not expect this."
