Bowie looked at his door in shock, sitting in the bed while imagining a sword in his hand before summoning it with a simple left-hand swing and a finger snap. As the thing moved the cosmic barrier with ease, he felt his entire body become much lighter as the barrier had been destroyed. The doors slammed open revealing a rotten version of Bowie with his face rotted out showing his exposed eye and blood vessels. His stomach is cut open with his organs spilling out while his legs are consumed by what looked like human hands. The creature screamed his name as he also summoned the cosmic sword Bowie had summoned a second ago with ease.
"BÒÔÖØØOIWEÈÉË"
The creature lunged at him with speed, and as he blocked its sword trying to push back, it felt like the creature had twice the strength of his entire body. He thought for a second before attacking, only to have it blocked by the creature as its rotting smells began to enter his nose. He attacked again and again, realizing that the creature must be the Kavise that wanted to eat their powers, and it was like a direct copy of him. His arms soon gave out as his arms lowered down with the sword, and its sword approached his neck quickly, his eyes flashing at the sword. his heart beat faster and his natural instinct kicked in. Bowie unknowingly swung the sword, which to his surprise had cut through its arms. The creature looked at its arms confused. Bowie looked at the creature, realizing that it could not predict the attacks that were not planned before hand. With a quick hand, he swung the sword wildly, hitting the creature's face, cutting it in half.
The creature collapsed, its eyes slowly looking up to Bowie as sounds began to come out of its head, crackling like an old recording, as the choir began to sing with the piano. Bright lights formed inside the creature's now busted skull. Bowie stepped back holding his cat near his chest. As the choir continued to sing, the creature attempted to reach out to touch Bowie, the creature screeched one last time like it is crying for help but the music stopped before it could move that far. The bright light exploded, consuming the creature before disappearing, returning the apartment into darkness once again, leaving one traumatized cat and a shaken man on the bed. Bowie quickly gathered himself calming his breathing down before releasing all of his spells at once and collapsed on the bed letting go of his cat.
"What the fuck was that... O-Oh god why is it so haunting.. Why is it crying for help.."
Bowie hid his face in his palm, clearing his mind before taking off his shirt preparing for shower. Turning on the radio as the news had gone wild about the news of his mark, Bowie could only sigh mildly wishing he would not have asked for this power. But while being left alone to his thought, clouds of cosmic opened up beside him. He glanced at the clouds as Koyil stepped out of the portal as graceful as ever standing before him with a gentle smile.
"Thou have done well, I have seen Thy performance upon such a small battlefield with Nay knowledge of what it is or who it is."
Koyil complimented Bowie with a smile on her face, though Bowie expression did not change staring at the spot on his room where the creature died. Koyil slowly moved towards the spot before kneeling down taking her crown of cosmic cloud off her head placing it on the floor as light once again took over the floor, she lifted up her crown as a door opens up before his very eyes. Bowie looked at Koyil putting back on his shirt and quietly walking through the door into a place with human like creatures walking around a statue.
"This world was made for Thee, as this is a rememberance of those whom had Thy faithful, Koyil along their side as their guide of the mark, thou aren't the first and shalt nay be the last."
Koyil slowly walked up as grass lands fades into sight with every gentle step, kneeling down placing a small light inside a freshly dug hole before covering it back up.
"Eventually the travelers shall take Thee to the land of the marked to meet those whom are alike to Thee, Thou are welcome to visit this ground as much as Thy please, whenever you felt like the world is falling apart, this sacred land shall be Thy safe barrier."
Bowie nodded, Koyil turned around before holding his hands, lifting it up and opening his palm she put a small bell inside his hands, smiling as she let go of his hands walking away.
"And I always will be by Thy side."
She smiled before disappearing into the statue, Bowie stood there before waking up to his real world just to realize that he had slept through the night, looking at his clock then his 21 missed calls, panicked he quickly put on his jacket and run straight out of the apartment, while running he looked into his palm to see the bell was there though no time to admire the beauty of it as he put it inside his bag and took off with his bike. And today is the same as the rest but sure in shape nonetheless, before coming to a stop in the bakery once again he checked the time and its just 6:30 in the morning, he sigh a relief before entering the cafe, being greeted by the same cheerful voice by Donna, Bowie smiled as her cheerful personality always brighten his day up even if it's his best day ever, though Donnie took a look at his face as her expression changed, from a cheerful into a look of interest.
"Nice mark Bowie! Looks great on you, pretty fitting."
Bowie giggled and thanked her, and looked at each other's in the eye in understanding of what he wants this morning, Donna giggled brightly before going back to her coffee maker, he sat down and took out his phone but instead of doing the same routine of checking his phone he sat there as he realized what deadly mistake he had done, he forgot to feed Mrs. Kometa her Jibbles this morning and she might ended up retaliate my sharpening her claws on the pillows, but there is nothing he can do and sigh accepting his fate for the night. Donna finished the order calling out his name which he quickly stood up and picked up his order. But before he take his leave Donna strike up a conversation.
"Hey, Bowie, you were all over the news last night you know? You made me worried that you suddenly collapsed then some dudes took you away and you just disappeared, though it is great seeing you here today, you know, what will I do without my every day customer?"
Both looked at each other before bursting into laughter, Bowie waves his hand goodbye before leaving to his work, as he opened up the door to his office, his co-workers and his boss, Mr. Devin stood beside the door way before clapping and cheering loudly, congratulating Bowie in receiving his mark of the cosmos, Devin walked towards Bowie shaking his hands congratulating him, and Bowie nodded as everyone slowly step away to go back to their work, all with snacks and coffee in hand and satisfied except Bowie and Devin who are still standing in the hallway.
"Congratulations again on getting your mark, Mr. Bowie, from what it seems your life will be a lot harder than before now since you have to fight something... Kayjib... Kavive.. Whatever it is right? Luckily we hired new employees too and from what I understood one of them will be working directly under you, uh, not literally of course, but he will be your true co-worker, so give him the work if you feel like it's too much, but make sure that you don't over work him either, alright?"
Bowie eyes widened with happiness as he nodded, Devin nodded too in approval before going back to his office, Bowie looked next to his office from what was once an empty office is now occupied with someone else, eager to meet his new co-worker. But the closer he approaches the more he felt un-easy to go near but biting his own instinct not to approach he walked towards the new co-worker. He soon stopped right behind the new co-worker, saying hello, the new co-worker got startled as he turned around with a friendly smile saying hello back. Suddenly as if all the sudden he felt at ease, why was his body repelling away from the new co-worker.. Maybe there is something wrong.
"Hey... You must be Mr. Bowie! My name is Colin, Colin Brown nice to meet you, I will be your co-worker."
Colin put out his hand for a handshake which Bowie accepts, holding his hand firmly shaking it but just a second he realized that Colin's hand is oddly cold. Though his mouth dare not utter a word releasing the grip on his hand. His heart is beating faster, though he must not show emotions or feelings as this is professionalism that is at stake here. And his heart beating faster and his visionsharpened, Bowie stepped back, bowing slightly before walking away. Walking back to his desk he remembered about the bell that Koyil gave to him, though, this is work time maybe he could check it out some other time, he sat down at his laptop at start working.
Hours had passed, Bowie put away his stuff leaving work to go back home, typical Tuesday, he looked at Colin still working while Devin stood beside him pointing at the screen. Bowie looked at the clock on the wall, 7:00 PM. Saying goodbye to Devin and Colin he walked out of the building before getting on his bike and rode home. The cold air of the night and lowered traffic as dimming lights from distant building slowly turning off only a few neon signs from bars are still open, finally getting back to his apartment, he opened his door expecting carnage and pain, instead Mrs. Kometa is sleeping silently on the bed, the food bowl is still empty. Sigh a sigh of relief, he poured Jibbles onto the emptied bowl, the door bell rang as he looked at the door, checking the peeking hole to see Garrett and Helen standing in front of the door.
"Bowie, we need to take you some where, but if you are tired we can delay it if you want!"
Bowie is concerned on how they got his address, still he opened the door while in his working uniform, the couple's smiled brightly greeting Bowie with a handshake, Garrett looked at Helen and nodded silently, asking if Bowie is ready, Bowie didn't answer for a second looking back at his cozy apartment. He wanted to be sleeping in bed but this is important, he swallowed a small bit of his grief, closing and locking the door to his apartment. Helen seems satisfied with Bowie's decision, as she lifted her finger up into the sky swirling it down near her eye, pointing at a direction before snapping her fingers. Bright lights covered the floor before disappearing from the apartment, flickering into a new reality, in there he saw a few 20 people walking around or doing something together, though one thing he realized it is filled with people with different marks in their eye, many with interestingly cool spells.
"You know Bowie, eventually you will learn a spell to get here, but some people don't want to waste their spells slot so they would just call me and then I'll give them a ride to here or anywhere, that's why we are the travelers, well, we do get people anywhere for a fee, of course."
Bowie nodded as he was handed a piece of paper containing both of their numbers, Bowie quickly put away the contacting information in his wallet before he start exploring looking around, a land that is stuck at noon, but the sun never moved, as it seems to be stuck at noon forever, Koyil appeared beside Bowie, she seem to be well known by everyone here as everyone greeted her like she is an ordinary person.
"This is a home for many warriors, this place is also a place for rememberance of a hero who fought in the war of Kavise, when thousands of Kavises came out from hibernation and clumped into one army, we did not win but we also did not lose either.. That is why there are us, to fight the next war and if we lose, they could break through the reality and actually kill people in our real world"
Helen explained, as Koyil nodded in confirmation to the information that Helen gave, Bowie listened still looking around the place, showing high interest in people there, there are people playing music, or doing something together as a group, Helen sighs quietly following Bowie everywhere he goes, even though the land is small Bowie took his time to learn about the land, he looked around, suddenly his gaze locked onto someone as his eyes widened.
"W-Wait, is that C-Colin???"
