Ruben and I went back home after school has ended, upon getting to my house, I saw Mia and her boyfriend – Mike. Seeing her, I felt happy because this was the first time I'm seeing her after we returned from the portal. Though I was happy, I felt somewhat distant from her, I could not just explain the feeling I was having but I knew that it wasn't a good sign.
"Kiel!" She called me with her usual warm smile as we approached them. I walked up to her and hugged her for some moment before breaking the hug. "You look so lean now," she said as the smile on her face disappeared and was replaced with a frown.
"That's because you are no longer here to cook my favourites for me," I replied, trying to sound like someone who has been mistreated.
"But you know how to cook, or don't you?"
"I do but not like you!"
"Fine, I'll cook for everyone tonight!"
Finally, I won the argument. I wanted her to stay around today and so I had to make her cook the food or else, she would no doubt, leave with Mike again. Talking about Mike, something feels weird about him but I am yet to discern what it is, whatever that is, I will find out later because I definitely will want to know.
The four of us went into the house and after Mia had changed, she entered the kitchen to cook, I also changed and joined her in the kitchen to help her also to ask some questions.
"Mia, where have you been? You haven't come home since we returned from the portal," I started as I handed a plate to her.
"I've been with Mike of course," she replied with a smile. "Guess what, his parents accepted us to be together," she added and laughed.
"Huh? What did you say?" I asked in surprise.
"You heard me right, we are now officially together. Aren't you happy for me?"
"I'm happy for you but. . ." I paused. Aren't his parents the same people that drove her away? It's not up to a month yet and they accepted her, just like that?
"But what? Kiel! You aren't happy for me, right?" She asked as a frown appeared on her face.
"I'm happy for you, sis but don't you think it is suspic—"
"Just stop!" She yelled cutting my words short. Now, she looked angry, I was taken aback by her sudden yell because this was the first time she ever yelled at me with so much resentment in her eyes. "Ever since you became friends with that kid, you totally changed! You know what, you should sever your ties with him or you stop regarding me as your sister, you couldn't even tell me you awakened your elements today, I'm so disappointed with you!" With these words, she dropped everything she was doing and stormed out of the kitchen.
I stood there for so long recalling everything that just happened within the space of a few minutes that I didn't know when Ruben walked into the kitchen.
"Hey man!"
"Kiel!"
"The hell! Kiel!"
It was at the third call that I heard my name and turned to look at him, I couldn't say a word rather, I stood staring at him and wondering if what my sister said was true or not.
"Your sister, she just left with Mike. My presence is the issue, right?" He spoke again.
Again, I didn't say a word to him, I had no words to say to him at this moment. What my sister said was true, I have indeed changed but it wasn't because of him. It was my decision but how should I explain it to her? How should I tell her that I am no longer the Kiel she brought up? I sighed deeply and dropped what I was holding as well and walked out of the kitchen.
"Let's leave!" I mumbled and walked out of the house. I needed to clear my head and there was only one place in mind.
We strolled to my usual quiet place–the riverside. I sat by the bank of the river and Ruben followed suit.
"Even if you don't tell me what's wrong, I already know," Ruben spoke up.
I sighed at his words, I shouldn't ignore him because nothing is his fault, I still have this bad feeling that something is wrong with Mia and it should be related to Mike, just that I don't where to point my fingers at.
"It's alright," I replied to him after some minutes of silence. "I came here to clear my head and then try to create some basic spells."
"How are you going to do that?" He asked, he too was eager to learn some spells.
"We meditate, connect and control–find your stars, connect and then control them. Hold on for a sec, I think we've done the first two steps so we should focus on the last one which is controlling them," I crossed my legs and closed my eyes, "Concentrate on what you are doing so you won't make mistakes!"
"Sure!"
To be able to control the stars, one needed to be focused so as to not make any mistakes, for someone like me who has three elements, that is, a total of 54 stars, it would be pretty difficult and if I should make a mistake, I think it would require me starting afresh again.
I looked into my soul and I could see a large sea of three different stars floating around their own kinds, they appeared to be so breathtaking but as I looked further, it seemed as though they were drifting away.
'Which should go first?' I thought as I watched the drifting stars. Fire, lightning and dark, which one should go first? Fire is a very fierce element which burns everything in its way, I would like to go with this one first but then, I am not the only one with this element. Lightning is a very destructive element and it would be nice if it should go first as well, the decision already made, I focused on the purple stars.
Unexpectedly, the purple stars were the ones drifting farther and farther away than the others. 'Don't even try to make things difficult for me!' I thought as I began to approach them with my will.
As stubborn as these stars are, the moment they sensed my will, they crushed it down and kept drifting even farther away. I smirked and tried again, this time around, I used my will as a demon lord to approach them, this way, I'll see how they'll crush it. 'Since you are proving to be stubborn, how about I control all of you at once!' I thought as a grin formed on my lips.
I directed my will towards them and the moment they sensed it, they created a transparent glowing wall that surrounded them, but because of how strong my will is, it was able to crush their wall of defence, rendering them unprotected.
They reluctantly formed a star path and flowed towards me, surrounding me with purple glowing lights. After a while, very strong energy flowed into my veins, I felt as though my whole body was being struck by lightning bolts.
"Go!"
