Because the next day was school, I had to return home early and prepare for school and so when Ruben and I went back to the Inn, I took my sword and left. As expected Rina had said that there will be no need for us to work for her again but we could be coming to assist her anytime we wish. But before I left, I reminded the waiter to help me watch over Rina and contact me if anything should go wrong.
As I got home, the entrance door was open and so I quickly rushed inside, taking slow slides, I walked to my room as it was where some noises were coming from.
Upon getting there, I saw the door open and Mia inside. "Mia!" I called as a look of confusion filled my face.
She paused and turned around and meeting her gaze, I saw how shocked she was.
"What are you doing in my room? Why is everywhere scattered?" I asked not understanding what was going on.
She didn't say a word to me and continued what she was doing — scattering the whole place in search of what I had no idea of.
"The hell, Mia!" I called, raising my voice a bit high.
Once again she stopped and looked at me. "What?" She asked. The way she spoke, she sounded not herself and the same time herself.
"The hell is wrong with you?" I asked. "The last time you came home, you left angrily and ever since then you haven't returned and today when you finally did, you are here scattering my room. Can you tell me what you are looking for?" I inquired.
"It's none of your business!" She replied and turned to continue what she was doing.
I got upset and approached her, I was just about to grab her arm when she shot a ball of ice at me. I didn't see it coming and so it hit me directly on my stomach and I was forced to take some steps backwards until my back hit the wall of my room.
She had her eyes wide open as she stared at me but that wasn't because she was shocked that she could attack me but because I was able to stand her attack. "How are you able to withstand my attack?" Was what she asked still in surprise.
I adjusted myself and stood properly, I touched where the ball of ice had hit me and I felt pain. Why did she attack me? She had never laid her hands on me before so why today? These questions filled my head as I stared at her.
"That's an intermediate spell so how were you able to withstand it? You better answer me!" She coldly spoke, her eyes filled with hatred.
"What has gotten into you?" I asked. "You weren't like this before," I added.
She chuckled and began to approach me, "Everyone is bound to change, even your dear big sister," she said while grinning.
I watched as she approached me and when she was close enough, another ball of ice formed on her palm. "Give me that necklace or I'll be forced to harm you!" She said with her other hand outstretched towards me.
The moment she requested my necklace, I knew something is very wrong. I was beginning to think why she needed my necklace, she had never shown interest in it so why did she suddenly begin to request it?
"What do you need it for?" I asked.
"It's not of your business! Just give me the damn thing!" She said and tried to drag the necklace from my neck.
"I can't give it to you without knowing what you need to for," I replied as I pushed her hand away.
"You! Don't make me do something we'll both regret," she warned sternly.
"Sis, you have really changed," I said, expecting her to say something but then she ignored me.
"Hand over the necklace to me and I'll leave," she spoke.
"Leave? Leave to where? This is your home, Mia!"
"Tsk! I no longer call here home, you can have it to yourself but first I need that thing!" She said and rushed at me again, aiming to grab the necklace but I was quick to dodge which caused her to fall to the ground.
"Mia!" I called and rushed to carry her up. My action landed me in trouble as she already had two large balls of ice prepared and waiting for when she'll take action. The moment I got close to her, she attacked me with her balls of ice and they hit me so hard this time around that I was sent flying to my bed.
She used this opportunity to do what she wanted and so she dashed over to me and made to collect the necklace. Just as her hands touched it, a red light shone and then she was suddenly blown away with great force. She slammed her back against the wall and fell to the ground.
"Mia!" I yelled and tried to get up but I couldn't, it felt like I was being pressed to the ground. I couldn't move my body at all. I watched as Mia got up and ran out of the room. "Mia!" I called but then she was no longer around, she had left the house.
I tried to get up again and this time, I stood up. Leaving my confusion aside, I rushed out of my room to the sitting room and as expected, she had gone. A deep frown settled on my face as I walked to one of the couches and sat down.
"What the hell just happened?" I asked myself, still frowning. I could not understand what had happened, starting with Mia and then the necklace, everything happened fast that I wasn't able to understand a thing.
While I was still in thought, my mind wandered to Mike. "Could it be that he asked Mia to collect the necklace from me? But what for?" I mumbled. Remembering that he also awakened the fire element, I began to think of the possibility of him asking her to get it for him but what I didn't understand is how he knew about the necklace. Apart from Mia and I, no other person knows about it.
I've been long suspicious of Mike right from the moment he asked Mia out. Could it be that he is only using her to get what he wanted? If so, I won't fail to expose him and deal with him. He was going to pay for everything he has done to her!
