Chapter 5 - Those Few Meetings

Some days pass. Amar asks Shahid to find out the address of Nargis's house. Shahid tells him that Nargis lives two lanes away from Amar's house. Near the nearby square, Nargis had a small house, which had two rooms and a kitchen. A little unpaved road passed in front of the house. There was a small place in front where Sarfaraz used to sit and wear clothes. Amar and Shahid often take a walk around Nargis's house. He could sometimes see Nargis through the window. One day in the evening, Amar was walking in front of Nargis's house with his bicycle. With the hope that he would see Nargis. He does not see Nargis but his shadow is definitely visible. Because of a small candle, Nargis's voice was falling through the window. At that time Nargis was offering Namaz. Nargis was busy in her prayer. Amar puts his cycle near the wall and talks to her shadow and promises her that he will tell her heart to Nargis and make her his own. Then suddenly Nargis's prayer ends. Amar leaves before Nargis can see Amar.

Just like that a few days pass. Shahid reminds Amar that 15th August is coming and Jashn Azadi is celebrated by both the colleges together. During this, the students of both the colleges would present their skills. Some perform poetry, some present nazm and some entertain everyone with their dance. This was a good opportunity for Amar to win Nargis's heart. Amar was looking for some new tune so that he could please Nargis. Amar waits for the next Jumeirat. So that Nargis comes to the tomb and Amar can show her his skills. On the day of Jumeirat, after leaving the college, Amar takes his rubab and goes to the dargah. Amar sits under a tree in the garden behind the dargah. Amar was engrossed in his tune. After a while Nargis comes there. Nargis is very happy to see Amar playing rubab. For a while she just keeps looking at Amar. After some time Amar realizes that Nargis has arrived. He stops playing the rube. Nargis smiles and tells Amar that he plays rubaab very well. Amar thanks her and blushes and looks down. Nargis loves her tune. She asks him to play for some more time. Nargis sits down on the grass nearby and Amar continues to recite it by playing the rubaab. Amar used to sing a few songs too. He also wrote a song in the name of this friendship. Along with playing the rubab, he also started humming the song. When her song was over, Nargis applauded her with applause. Amar tells Nargis that he is doing Riyaz for Jashn-e-Azadi Din program. Nargis tells him that she too is going to present her poetry on that program day. Amar becomes happy and congratulates him. Amar and Nargis talk for a while and then Nargis leaves from there.

The next day Nargis goes to college as usual and Bhumi sits down nearby. The land looks very happy. Nargis asks her the reason, then Bhumi tells that the landlord's relationship that had come in the past has liked her and their relationship has been fixed. Nargis gets very happy hearing this and congratulates her. Bhumi blushes. Nargis asks her the name of her future groom. Bhumi says her name is meaningful. Nargis teases him by the name 'Bhu-sa'. 'Bhoo' of land and 'Sa' of Sarthak. Bhumi tells Nargis that after two weeks she is engaged and she must come. Nargis promises Bhumi that she will definitely come and she starts joking again.

Two more days pass. Amar's heart desires to meet Nargis. But what to do today is Sunday and today is a college holiday. Amar has to buy a new cloth from the market and goes to Sarfaraz's house on the pretext of sewing clothes with Shahid. As soon as he reaches Sarfaraz's house, he finds Sarfaraz in front. He hands her the cloth. Sarfaraz asks Amar and Shahid to come inside the house to get the cost of the clothes. Amar's eyes were just looking for Nargis. He looks here and there. At last he sees Nargis in the kitchen. He had never seen Nargis's face before. He fell in love with Nargis's soul without even seeing her face. Today for the first time he had a glimpse of Nargis. Amar had become a fan of Nargis's beauty. Nargis's golden hair, silvery white complexion, beautiful eyes were adding to her beauty. Nargis was unaware that Amar had reached her house. Amar wanted to spend some more time there so that he could look at Nargis with all his heart, but since Sarfaraz had taken the measurements of the clothes, there was no reason to stay there any longer. Despite not wanting, Amar had to leave from there. After this Amar used to stand outside every day after leaving college and wait for Nargis and as soon as Nargis came out of her college he used to smile seeing her. He also went to the Dargah every Jumeirat and waited for Nargis for hours. Sometimes Nargis used to come in the afternoon, sometimes in the evening. Nargis also liked talking to Amar. He felt like Amar himself in this strange city.

Amar used to roam around Nargis's house every Sunday. Sometimes on the pretext of taking clothes and sometimes on the pretext of giving clothes, he used to come to Sarfaraz's house. He became Sarfaraz's forever customer

Even today, as usual, Amar was roaming around Nargis's house on his cycle. Amar was not paying attention on the way and suddenly Amar hits a bullock cart standing in front. Amar falls from the cycle and gets a serious injury on his leg. Some people gather around and pick him up. Sarfaraz was wearing clothes in front. He also comes out after hearing the sound of someone colliding. When he sees that it is none other than Amar and his leg is bleeding he panics and asks her to come inside. Sarfaraz brings her into the house with the help of his hand. He makes Amar sit on the cot and calls Nargis. Nargis comes running and sees that Amar's leg is bleeding profusely. She gets scared. Sarfaraz tells Nargis to bring water to Amar. Sarfaraz goes inside the house to get the ointment. Nargis brings water and Amar asks her whether she is fine or not. Amar looks into Nargis's eyes and smiles and says that she is fine. Amar does not realize his pain at all, but is very happy that Nargis cares for him so much. Amar was glad that he saw Nargis with his own eyes today. Sarfaraz brings the ointment and applies it on Amar's wound. After sitting for a while, Amar says that he is fine now and wants to leave. Sarfaraz supports Amar with his hand and comes to drop him at the door. Nargis looks at Amar through the cover of a curtain from the window. Nargis is worried but Amar is happy because he is happy to see Nargis's concern. He also showed love for himself in Nargis's eyes for the first time. Amar picks up his cycle and leaves from there. He keeps thinking of Nargis all the way and he keeps smiling. Finally Amar's desire to see Nargis face to face is fulfilled. But the desire to get Nargis grew even more.
