It was already morning.
I felt there was something on my face so, when I opened my eyes and saw Jin starring at me, I let out a sigh and woke up saying, "Even you have grown to wake me up uh lil Jin!"
As Jin swirled up on my laps, I slowly raised my torso and said, "Good Morning Brodhur!"
His speech has definitely improved. I'm impressed, young man.
I slowly got out of bed and went downstairs, swaying Jin to my head.
"Good morning, Ethan! Jin! You guys are just in time," my mother called out to us from the kitchen as Big sis Alice and Evana, were preparing the table.
"Good Morning Eth! and you too Jin!" Eve said as I went to the table and sat by saying, "Yeah! Good morning Eve!".
My sis starred me as if I ignored her, so with a laugh, "And you too Sis!" I said and sighed out loud.
"Good morning, Eth—and good morning, Lil Jin. Did you guys sleep well?" My father, who was coming from morning training, turned to us, petting Jin's small head.
"Ehyu" Jin sounded as it was good as I laughed at them.
After greeting everyone, I returned to my seat and began eating a ham and vegetable omelette with a light soup.
My Sister abruptly spoke up while eating, her mouth full of eggs. "That brings to mind something. Do you want to come to City Square with us if you don't have any plans? There's a big announcement in the Capital City of Aldir where the King and the princess reside but a couple of artificers are going to put up a live projection of the broadcast in City Square!"
I heard the King lost his wife during a battle with demon clan members who spearheaded the castle twelve twelve years ago, and the princess is rejecting her position as she wants to protect the kingdom on siding with the military. However, it appears that the king obliged her to attend the Atlas Academy before joining the army. After all that, I still don't bother asking the King or Princess's name. Their names will most probably end in Vrisorid. And that's all I need to know.
For me, my father is the King, and my mother is the queen, and all my siblings are the prince and princess, living inside a small roof castle.
"Al, please don't talk with your mouth full," my mother gently reprimanded before returning to her conversation with Evana. Mother and Eve appear to be getting along quite well, to the point where they are discussing haircuts.
It's hard to believe Eve was the girl who gave me chills in Master Waylen's office. She'd become very fashionable, but when we're both training and waiting for missions, she still has her cold blooded assassination sides.
Uncle Arthur had said that he would send me notice if I should anything, but I guess we should focus on joining and learning in the academy first.
"Ah....That sounds good...but...I've got some work to do!" I said as my family worriedly stared at me, Evana pinched me in the thigh as we sat nearby.
"You should take some time off, Ethan. You always seem to end up at the workshop or the public library! Don't worry, you'll pass the entrance exam!" My mother said and my sister gave of nods at the end.
"Ehh..." I simply smiled hearing that she would think I would fail the entrance exam.
"You're not going anywhere, Eth. We're going with sister Alice, and don't bother resisting me!" Evana said as she resumed eating.
"Sighs"
Guess there is no choice.
"Alright! Alright! You win! I will go with ya!" As I returned my attention to my empty plate, I said. Looking down, I noticed Jin devouring the last of my omelette. Sometimes I wonder if Jin really is a snake.
"Fhyu!" Jin sounded ecstatic.
They must have all planned it. I'll also visit the man who Bulat mentioned.
...
The City Square, which was usually bustling with activity, was unusually crowded with both ordinary civilians and nobles.
There were four orbs forming a square on the side of the large tower-like building, and beneath these floating orbs were two artificers in brown robes.
The mages chanted with unnecessarily grand gestures, hands waving as if conducting a symphony, despite their less-than-attractive clothing, indicating that they didn't do their work for glory and fame.
Jin was fidgeting on top of my head, taking in all the sights and the large crowd. Evana, my father, and my sister were the only ones who came with me because my mother had other plans.
As more people gathered, a crackled image began to form, with the four glowing orbs serving as its corners. The fuzzy image became clearer all of a sudden, the mirage of colors forming the image of the Vrisorid Castle.
"The three Kings and Queens of the different countries in our beloved Continent of Aderon have gathered here on this memorable day!"
I see a very fancily-dressed man with a thick grey beard announce to an audience that looked to be in the hundreds of thousands, judging by the space the people took up.
Wait a second? Is that....?
"Attention Humans, Elves, and Dwarves alike, I go by Arthur Vrisorid. While most of you know me as the King of Vrisorid, today I speak not as the King of Humans, but as one of the representative of the Continent of Aderon!"
You've gotta be kidding me right? Uncle Ar..Ar...Arthur is.s.s the King of the Vrisorid Kingdom?
What the helll!! I'm practically freaking out seeing the President of the Council of Assassins, turn out to be the Red Scythe to be a King!!!
The hundreds of thousands of people all kneeled, some going on all fours in worship at the sight of the King. The blurry projection becomes clearer and zoomed in closer to the balcony of the Castle.
There, I could see the Uncle Arthur in the front alone, while the other Kingdom's kings sat alongside their queens.
Even though I am surprised to see Uncle Arthur as King, I am enraged to see how lonely he is. Are the ones sitting near him can't see his suffering? For some reason, I felt compelled to rush up to him and scream h e is not alone, like I am his son, but I couldn't help him.
Uncle is strong, but I get the impression that he is in pain when I see him.
Why? Why am I feeling this way? he is my boss, the president of the council of assassin. I call him uncle simply because we share the same viewpoint, and....why? This feeling...I can't put into words.
"Brodhur!" Jin exclaimed as he felt my emotions erupt.
Observing my clutched hands, "Eth? Are you all right?" Eve inquired quietly.
"Its nothing Eve! I'm just so uncomfortable here!" I replied as I walked away from the crowd and out onto the road.
